  2. I did get a price list from a distributor and R25k seems to be accurate. Plus the guy is high up in SA cycling, so guess I can trust him. I guess I must just do it (if it is the right size), thnx as always for your feedback guys. The hub is a great place!
  3. Ja its got XTR groupset. He added some extras like GEAX white wall tyres , whatever those are...
  4. Help me please - can get a few-month's old Silverback Surplus 2 for R14 500 (bicycling magazine says they cost around R25 000 new), do we agree its a good deal? Think I can do better for the money?
  5. there was a guy on a single speed starting the Sabie ultramarathon in the leading pack on a single speed...then you know you CAN...
  6. Just dont act nervous while you rescue me from the side of the mountain after I have fallen me a** off
  7. Ja jislaaik that accident on the way to Barberton was an ache in the what-what...you guys leave early, I only gonna go at 2:30 or so...
  8. fortunately for me, my boss is also going, so we both sitting here anxiously looking at each other and the watches...but hey at least the sharks are leading on the telly against the 'saders, does help to distract
  9. Have same problem - love my grips but would likethem to stay where they are and not rotate like a stripper on a pole (not that I know bout that at all..). Will be watching the clever hubbers' advice to you closely!

  11. It cant be an automated machine program thingy, its so personalised, they even said they enjoyed reading my profile on Lonely Riders dot com...
  12. Sounds great...idea of the cost involved for a Gautenger? Do we need passports for Baviaans? *grin*
  13. Yes, first time MTB riders do get a bit of a rough welcome from the serious contenders, and yes, younger MTB riders are less curtious than those with more experience and less testosterone, but once one accepts those facts, it is still a beautiful sport with more camaraderie than most other sports
  14. We are actually saying the same thing - no matter what sex, age or gear, if we start people in roughly similar groups of cycling speed, that would smooth out the flow. Again, Barberton being a good example, whereas a less competitive event such as Babbas Lodge gives you the opposite situation, where absolutely casual riders sneak into the front pack at the start and get literally driven over.
  15. Whether they are racing to win or not does not change their average racing speed, which means they can race for the win in a group with similar speed....
  16. Well, I dont know that "ladies" should have their own starting groups, I just think your average speed over previous races should determine which group you start in...for those who are not first timers anyway. If you are a first timer, one of the slower groups would surely be a good place to start.
  17. Hope this is ON SUBJECT enough: a lady fell her arse off in front of me in the starting pack this weekend...I was not responsible for the fall but kinda wanted to stop..but if I had to stop everytime someone fell, flip I'd literally never finish a race. In this case the fall would not have happened if the lady did not start up front with fairly fast men, because she got flustered in the tight pack in thick sand and pulled the front brake... I really think Babbas Lodge should have separate starting packs like at Barberton...
