  1. USA vs algeria....what a blast!
  2. For the second time while traveling through Botswana to Namibia, I have passed a European Mountain Biker traveling through southern africa on his own. This dude cycles till he gets bored with it, goois a tent and snores. But I actually wanted to say that Namibia is becoming a world-renowned MTB destination. This time I took a SPecialised Stumjumper carbon to test out and I could not get the thing to even puncture. Man, where else can you cycle past so much wild game in mild to warm winter weather..the kudu just looks at you and says wtf is that thing rolling past? Cant wait for next trippy!
  3. I absolutely love it...
  4. most unpretty thing I'd ever seen...
  5. You lose; I have; no I don't Err...men as manly as my boss would NEVER use emoticons...or wear those pants...oh wait..maybe it IS you!
  6. I can spot experience a mile away when I read it... will you be my Mentor?
  7. 6.15 before work is best time at groenies (normally fridays), but I see there is a thread here full of guys who like to do groenies after work, in the dark en all....
  8. yeah woulda tried it but reallly hate running...goes too slow!
  9. My bet is he has never heard of the hub...probably has a secretary that does his internet banking for him
  10. Err... may I politely refer you to point 1 Sir, where I stated that MTBing was to escape from the likes of him He is a grunter at best, now when he's out there and tired, I can fully understand why he didn't greet me back..probably didn't have any breath left... (I hope you are not him btw!)
  11. nah he was coming from other direction...doesn't know about clockwise he doesn't! lol He would never catch me from behind, unless he promises a promotion or such...
  12. One of the last outposts where I could gettaway from women and work was Groenkloof..this morning at friggen 6:30, the CEO pops past me on his fancy wheels...now there's a sure way to suck the mud out of my smile... (yes, I fell shortly after and donated lotsa skin!)
  13. ohhhh...I know where you mean now...I was talking about further out, i.e. on the south side of the racetrack where they fly microlights...but the dumping around centurion is ridiculous, cant understand how people think its acceptable to do something like that
  14. I do 40km from Centurion to Gerhardsville through some rural stuff then back past villa mora/laudium and zwartkops racetrack...am wondering if I cross this reserve in the process, cos the route is fairly untouched/ not developed. Would not say that I feel 100% safe when doing it though.
  15. Bigger, bigger, make the circle biggerrr.... (some coloured okes form CT)
  16. Ahh...there's my contact lense!
  17. Plastic bike! hehee...and I am only buying the thing this wknd, stop scaring me! Since not a single reply actually said "my bike cracked due to hang rack", I am going to go with Mampara/Edman's advice and just secure it properly. Although the G-force guy is scaring me...
  18. Thnks, the bike is now fixed (will see during Babbas if its a lasting result). Just a few things on above replies: * I wish I was the kinda guy who enjoyed/ preferred/ was mechanically minded enough to do these things myself but I much prefer a shop where I can drop it and pick it up KNOWING they did what they are charging me for * I have always been treated nicely by Mervin's people, and almost feel bad about having had to moan about them but I doubt I will go back there, they definitely have staff skill problems or lack of quality control - no-one should have to take a bike back three times * if Trek put better switchgear on their 3 series, we wouldn't be having this discussion in the first place
  19. Am new to cycling, have for the first time taken my Trek 3700 to someone other than Cyclelab Centurion - took it to Mervin Dinkleman. They just needed to upgrade the real derailleur to 2010 Shimano Deore, fit new chain, give full service and return. I paid the R1 270 or such bill which I thought was cheap compared to cyclelab's quote, but the friggen chain just slipped when I tried to peddal/ride. So i took it back. They "changed a sprocket", apologised, salesman said he "rode it himself" to make sure it works. The MOMENT i got home and on the bike it was clear that changing the shifter from 3 to 2 to 1 did not result in a single gear change! Do I take it back a third time? Or can someone point me towards someone in Centurion who will actually give me a perfectly tuned bike back? Purnjap2010-03-03 12:13:05
  20. Hey Velouria It was the salesman at Thule that said that when he sold it to me (at the time I had aluminium frame), but when I asked a chap at Cyclelab whether its true, he said he has never heard of that happening. Hence my confusion, was the salesman only trying to make a bigger sale or has the guy at cyclelab just not gotten around enough (they are so young these cyclelab lads)...
  21. Hi I have a new Thule hang rack on my car (which means three bikes hang from it as opposed to standing on a platform) and am getting a carbon frame - does anyone here actually know someone who's carbon frame cracked because he had it on a hanging bike rack or is that just an old wive's tale? Because I dont particularly want to sell the fairly new thule just to get a different kind of more expensive one because the frame Might crack... thnks
