  1. [Hi-jack on] I'm looking at off-loading XT v-brakes - and I've had a query about whether they would work on a cyclocross frame? Any ideas? I've googled it, and there appears to be quite a few sites that say it is possible? Don't want to mess the buyer around - what do you all reckon is the best way to get confirmation? Anyone know of a LBS who is really clued up on Cyclocross bikes that will be able to give some insights? [Hi-jack off]
  2. Did the Marathon loop over the weekend - good fun, and I'm happy to report - the moss was ridable! Beautiful loop - there are sections where those weird looking ferns are growing so high - it's quite easy to imagine yourself being caught on Jur-ass-has-had-it-Park island! I can see how that could be very tricky in Winter - but at least it's not as steep as the Eliminator, which makes it a bit more manageable... Started off by riding up BMW for the first time (anyone know why it's called that?) - at the top fork, I went right - up the Cement path. Holy moses. Any Paarl mtb'ers know of anyone who can actually ride the whole way up? My gradient reading on the Garmin was jumping around like crazy - but was happily staying in double figure percentages - is that even possible? Next time I do BMW - will swing right at the top intersection, head down that rocky downhill, and then join up with the outside track in the direction of Christmas Camp - think that's pretty much the only part I still need to explore! Good times ahead!
  3. Too lazy to google this to confirm...regardles - "And now for something completely different" Remember reading about several deaths in England shortly after WWII, blamed on bananas... With the War shortages, bananas weren't exactly a dime-a-dozen over in London. With the War ending - they come flooding back into the market. Many children had never eaten bananas before, and as a result, did what children would do when they were suddenly exposed to a 'healthy' fruit that tasted good and unlike anything tasted before... Apparently, some were eating them peel and all - having never had them before, and not realising they should be peeled first. Potassium overdose was blamed for the deaths - though as is clear, I reckon you'd have to eat plenty at once, and in this case, the bananas were probably being introduced into a body that had a shortage to begin with... The possibility also exists that the peels might contain more potassium than the actual fruit(??), which might have compounded the issue... Kind of a sad story, in a way?
  4. How old is the stem?
  5. Tankman - each to their own, I guess?? As for me - my fork is almost always locked out, since I've set it up in such a manner that it still reacts to everything but the gnarly stuff... Which means that when I need to unlock it - it's usually as I've started a hairy descent, and I only remember to do it when I've already begun the run ... I've had a few close shaves, purely because I'm leaning forward, around the bars, trying to dial my lock-out open, without actually concentrating on the pure evil that is rapidly unfolding under my front wheel Having said all of this, it doesn't happen nearly enough to justify the expense (presumably?) of installing a remote lock-out - and the weird part of me, enjoys those moments of fear! So I guess I'm just asking really, without necessarily thinking of doing it
  6. Hello All, Why google, if you Hubbers are funnier? Can one add a remote lock-out to a 2008 F80 RLC Fox Fork, after purchase? I seem to recall reading somewhere that you can buy a seperate unit for certain Roxshock's -- but was wondering about the Fox? Any thoughts? Fanks!
  7. I SO would've done the same if I was a bike designer - big up's for Mr. Jones

Berry - I'm also in Stellenbosch, but what I want will only be in stock again at CRC on 28/10/2010... I'd therefore be looking at buying first thing in November - also +/- R1000.00... Shout if you can wait?
  10. Sweet mother - sounds like a scene from a movie! Where was this Standi? Rolex gang = top-end bicycle gang? Ps - hope you treated the girl in the car to something! Brave move that?!
  11. Oh that's beautiful! An no disrespect meant to any Pakistanis, or their cricketers - but this mental image is just SO apt!
  12. Ouch!
  13. Scroll down to the bottom of my post, Covie No way I'm doing that again - just checked the UPS website - it's telling me I'll have the stuff by Monday. I'm sure customs will throw the proverbial spanner in the works - but at least I can track the package this time... B) Lesson learnt!
  14. Well done - sounds like an awesome ride! One day, when I'm big and my lungs have fully developed [ ], I'll give you a call!
  15. Don't want to be p!ssing on any picnics here - but has this ride been approved? I.e - have landowners etc. given consent etc etc?
  16. Thanks Mampara. Think I'll be putting these guys on next!
  17. Right. Parts back in stock. So I've just ordered a new parcel, and - just to prove a point - I'm again using Royal Mail again. Ja right. UPS Express it is. Finger's crossed etc. etc. B)
  18. That popular, huh? B)
  19. Nothing?
  20. Hello All, Please see the pic below, lifted off the CWC website... They look like they could be useful - and don't appear to be priced badly either... Anyone using them - and if so - your thoughts?
  21. Lucky b@stard!
  22. Down + 3 Had a pair of Oakleys, Polarised etc. My first Oakley pair... After a few months, lenses started peeling... frame eventually snapped! Back to tried and tested Raybans - and will never go back to Oakley!
  23. Well well well... Payment came in this morning. R42.10 short. Well, not actually - but presumably CRC refunded me in Pounds Sterling, which - thanks to the exchange rate - saw me being paid back less than what I spent... Which kind of blows. B)
