  1. XTR M975 shifters... Here be one very sad Hubber at Shimano's decision to drop the RapidRise range...
  2. Hey Dubber, Nope - sorry - don't have a vehicle GPS. Took my Edge 305 along, but the thick forest cover was screwing it around. Pop in to the bike store in Kynsna near the Waterfront - they'll give you all the direction info you'll need. Pretty sure the same will apply if you're coming from the Plet side of things...
  3. That's apparently changed, or is about to?? Where did I hear/read about this.... [getting old]
  4. I'd love to have this answered as well... I was an occasional, weekend kind of mtb'er in the times before suspension forks... Also had a mtb at school - an old Puegeot(?) would you believe, that also came rigid... Obviously - at the time, we all managed. But surely only because we didn't know any better? Going from suspension to a rigid, must be a completely different kettle of fish? One must be prone to want to do the same - only the results would be dramatically different? All those rigid souls out there - please share the love, and let us in on the transformation!
  5. S@B - that frame came out real nice... What's at the bottom of your seatpost - is that tape or a shim?

    Airtime Photos

Ah - thanks - makes sense now Well - on the assumption that you're slightly mental, it would make sense.
  7. By "who else", do you mean - apart from Tyerone, here on the Hub?
  8. Well, in fairness, I guess that would depend entirely on the size and demeanor of her friend!
  9. Looks sweet! At least you have the tools now to change colour at random! Do you feel like putting up some pics of your "equipment"? Would be interesting to see what all was required to do this?

    That Dam Cow

    Cool story!
  11. Maybe I'm just a smooth rider, but.... [having thrown the cat in - he continues] I run v-brakes, and have the rear brake running left... And I'm a lefty... With v-brakes - strength obviously plays more of a role, and I prefer it set up this way. Wait - actually I'm fibbing now. I've never really thought about this. I can grab a handful a rear, pump hard - and then use the right to feed in the front brake, as necessary... Guess it would probably make sense to have my 'dominant' hand feeding the front - but I inherited the bike set up this way, and never thought to change... I'm pretty sure that if I was to change things around - I would kill myself. Period. So I won't.
  12. You might need to be a bit more specific, or PM Admin - you should get a very quick reply... Also took me a while to get into it - but when you do
  13. Classic. Consider yourself told!
  14. Sounds interesting! Please pop up some pics!
  15. Fanks!
  16. I read somewhere in the week that parts of Stellenbosch are going to be traffic-free zones on Sunday? A few quotes from Meurant Botha were included... Anyone know anything more?
  17. Which LBS Ratty?
  18. My mind boggles at what must go through some peoples minds... Oh wait - maybe my first mistake is to make this assumption? Case in point: Yes, there is always two sides to the story - and yes, maybe the intentions on the other side were good - but in the face of everything above, what more could possibly be said?? Seriously - what does the seller think will happen when the buyer receives the goods, and they're not what was promised/advertised? Just shrug his shoulders? Is getting 'away' with a few hundreds of Rands, really worth the effort? On the odd few occasions that I've sold something on the Hub, I've gone out of my way to bombard potential buyers with info. Probably too much, in fact, which is why (I think) I sometimes don't sell a few things... But I make it clear from the outset - what the condition is, and how they were used - and I welcome any and all queries - since I then know that when I've posted it, it will probably be the last I will hear from the buyer. Having said this - the Seller must take responsibility too - by asking all the right questions, including Hub references, and then making a call on CLEAR terms. Swift - it unfortunately appears as if you did all that you could (barring references??) - and so I guess, you've got to roll with it... The princicple of the matter might dictate that you take things further, in the 'real' world - but whether that is worth the effort, is a whole new debate...?
  19. Not cool!
  20. Where's the emoticon for "straight over their heads?"
  21. Classic story this! And sooooooo many options sprung to mind regarding the "important lesson" of the day!
  22. +1
  23. 2 or three times... Amazing how the absence of pain experienced after/as a result of the fall, is directly proportionate to how stoopid/emabarrassing the reason for the fall was...
  24. Those are some interesting stats.
