  1. OOOOK, so it looks the root cause has been found!😀 The locating nuts(?), circled in red, were switched around, offsetting the whole wheel to one side. This was discovered when stripping the whole axle, and re-assembling it. The wider of the two was placed on the brake side, which moved total wheel over to correct position. Re-aligned brake caliper and it's good to go! Thanks to all who gave advice and info, made us all think a bit!! Apologies for incorrect part names, but hopefully it was sort of clear explaining the problem.
  2. It has a QR skewer. The wheel does not buckle, and I will be checking the dropouts next.
  3. Wheel is not buckled, running perfectly true.
  4. I need some assistance please. Rear tyre is just about rubbing against frame on brake side. I have found that when doing some rougher terrain, the wheel axle seems to "relocate" slightly, causing rubbing of tyre against frame. Although properly tightened and settled into frame location. The tyre size is 29x2.25. The gap difference between chain side and brake side is clearly visible, and is about 2mm from frame on brake side. What can be done to bring the rim more to the center - re-align with spokes?
  5. With winter approaching, I would like to know, which type of winter clothing you wear? I am looking to get a gilet, (Anatomic) but looking for something not too hot, but which protects against colder Western Cape weather. Or would a vest type undervest be more effective?
  6. Been doing both roadie and MTB, but like my photo, my wife reckon I looks kinda cool with the shades and afdakkie! And I listen to my wife.
  7. I'll just stay at home and service what needs to serviced.
  8. Two bricks Weet bix with some raisins been working for me for a long time. Even with the ex-Argus years, stayed the same, and it worked, with date balls as well on the road.
  9. I think the nicest sound I ever heard, was that "ting" when the flippin one I had, dropped into the glass thingy in hospital during a "pp" session! When doc saw it, his words...."OK, you can go home now" And yes, do not talk about the pain beforehand leading to this.
  10. Sjoe, dis hectic Cois, met daai pille en gebede, gaan jy dit deurtrek! Sterkte vriend, en dankie vir die gereelde "updates" Dis altyd goed om dit te deel, selfs my vrou vra gereeld hoe dit gaan!
  11. We used a similar tool in the tyre manufacturing industry to smooth out rubber joints during tyre making process.
  12. This is was a very popular "incident".I remember when me and my brother did the "de Tour" and going throug Simonstown, there was also a lady bragging her noombies somewhere near Boulders Beach. Yeez, we nearly had a helluva ground/tar meeting. Until today we can not remember her hair colour or whether it was a short or a bikini bottom
  13. Baie sterkte Cois. Klou vas aan daardie Hand van Bo wat hierdeur sal dra, en so ook jou gesin en familie.
  14. Is it not so typical of us humans that we are so "scared" to read threads as this one. Then when you start you can not stop, and then realize how damm lucky we are, that we are still healthy! Cois, I have not met you are any of the sufferers as you, but may I wish you and your loved ones, only the best for the times ahead! We can only share your pain in our hearts and minds, but remember that you are most certainly in my daily prayers. My FIL at 90, diagnosed a couple of years ago, is still so positive, that it actually gives me a positive boost when I speak to him...."nee wat Oostys, dit gaan goed, ons kla nie" Ag no CBlake, now I also have that thing in my eye!
  15. I have never smoked in my life, apart from being "forced" to following my two kids celebration. But, I have to take my hat off to you people that do sport, and want to go the extra mile to stop smoking. My son was a smoker until two years ago, when he decided one morning - that's it! At least that is what he told us. He did his first 42k marathon last month, after many 21k's, and is pushing to do Comrades. He is my super hero! So good luck to all the forum guys and girls, all the best, and know that there are many sporting people out there supporting you in the fight to stop!

This is such a great idea to help those that need help. Just another idea if I may. What about getting a couple of sponsored sealer containers from supportive bike outlets, and arrange a pit stop en route, and fill up tubes as they come past. I do not live close by, but it certainly is something to think about in my area. A couple of years ago Pretoria Traffic had a stop en route to work one day, where they handed out helmets and reflective jackets to bike commuters. For months afterwards I remember seeing these okes on bikes with helmets and jackets until I moved away.
  17. I need to go ride there for MTB training uphills. Is it an all tarred road route, or are there some off road routes as well?
  18. I want to find out if there is a ride, closer to the sea, from St Helena Bay (Shelley point) to Paternoster which can be done with the bike. I have done some km's on the sand road in this direction, but am not sure if you can go all the way to Paternoster, apart from going the more "inland" road, over the hills, and then turn towards Paternoster.
  19. For the bike hangers, i used 6mm threaded bar with two nuts on either side of the allu tube. Then bent it suit the frame size. The cover of the hooks is with electrical cable heat shrink.
  20. If you are somewhat handyman, i bought a length of allu square tube, a couple of these plastic fittings, and made a stand myself.(Connect-it connectors)
  21. So, my son, in prepping for his first full marathon in September, and deciding that being a self admitted "brat", treated himself to new "sports-mans watch" Ag dad, you can have my old one (Garmin Vivoactive 3) for R1500-00, sorry man its already six months old! Thanks boet, looks like I brought you up well, looking after the ou-toppie!
  22. Yislaaik, this is one helluva thread! Looks like the both of you enjoyed this project! Just shows what can be done if you "TEAM-UP"
  23. This sounds like the place to go for K2C training?
  24. Been watching Hawaii 5-0. Still trying to get ideas without being caught Just for in case!
