  1. On this topic, anyone done the K2C. What are conditions REALLY like for a first timer? The first 20 odd k's seems like the tester to complete? Obviously a lot of offroad rides required, and peak at least by mid August to do the full distance as exercise. BTW, We are doing our entry this week.
  2. So, I have had my mind set for a couple of years to do a long distance MTB event.Coming from roadies a couple years with ultra distances there. For some reason the K2C keeps popping up. Okay, I will obey and set it as my to-do-2019. If all goes well, my son will back me up as support. Now the questions:- 1.How fit is fit to do it? My current cycling pattern, most of it, 40-50 k's on Saturdays and Sundays. 2. Starting end March, this will go to +/-140k's per week, four to five rides, 50 on any week-end day. 3. I do not want to challenge the front runners, just wanna comfortable finish - does this exist? 4. How serious are the climbs?
  3. Any MTB riders out Meyerton area for week-end casual rides? Or ideas or routes close by, from Meyerton
  4. Oooooookey, I am in as well. This year has to be done right! Battled my "dinges" off in December at the coast, and now my mindset is back as it is supposed to be. I have this sh@tty 10-12kg to lose, and my son and I want to do a Duathlon this year as well. !5km running for him, and me 40km cycling. Want to do it with the MTB!
  5. Is somebody planning to do this in March 2019. I got this mail today, and it seems like fun in the "States" Has somebody done it and any feedback?
  6. Been watching Hawaii 5-0. Still trying to get ideas without being caught Just for in case!
  7. Dr Visser at Eugene Marais in Pretoria, did my knee op about 5 years ago after me meeting a tree, and it's still going good.
  8. I am of the older clan. 61 but still going strong. I have been riding road for a number of years, and now MTB for about 6 years. My goal is to do stage race next year, a dream to be fulfilled.(I do not believe in bucket lists) Doing mostly week-end rides, I last week stepped it up to do week rides as well. Staying in Meyerton helps somewhat as it is open and free riding. The challenge is getting my weight down to an acceptable level. I want to drop at least 12 kg's. My wife and I am doing some healthy intake routine, which helps a lot. SO, it is up to myself getting my act together, and let the rubber burn on the road. Following everyone on this forum will certainly help.
