  1. Pictures from scene, you can draw your own conclusions.
  2. From initial reports I have is a group of rider's were standing on the side of road on top of Suikerbossie towards Hout Bay. A car travelling in the same direction struck one cyclist and he was flung approximately 50m down the road. I was told as I arrived at scene that driver had been arrested. Fire department and 2 doctors were treating cyclist. Not to say much but he has some serious injuries but is stable from all reports. Please keep him in your prayers and be safe out there.

  4. I have recorded Strava on an Iphone 5 for an entire DC years back. Just put your fone on low battery mode. If you need HR then you will have to use Wahoo with their bluetooth Tickr belt.
  5. Zwift would be your best option for being able to ride togeher on screen. If you want an honest opinion check out DC Rainmaker's reviews on web and Youtube. Sufferfest is purely for training. With Zwift you can control her trainer from a phone or tablet. If you ride the same course then you should in theory be able to see her avatar on your tv. screen next to you if you sync your start and pace. This should work in theory.
  6. I am assuming you are talking of wire bead version. I use the foldable Gator which is slightly more expensive but same quality and almost as light as GP4000S. I have done about 4000km so far and the wear indicator is still visible. I had a puncture yesterday in SCT and it took me 5min to pop tyre off and change tube. I only used one tyre lever. The problem might also be that your rims are tubeless ready and therefore has a different inner profile which seals much better. The foldable Gators will still be much easier to change a tube with.
  7. Hope you get it back. I make it a point to attach the supplied lanyard to my Garmin and wrap it on bar or stem when fitting computer.
  8. That looks like the Colnago museum and that is Tommy's bike from TDF.
  9. If you don't need the colour maps then Instinct is a good option. If you need to track HR while swimming then its out ( doesnt work with HRM Swim or HRM Tri). If you want colour maps, sapphire and good battery life and not worried about the Garmin Pay and music then get the 5X. Takealot had them on sale for 8500 in December and I should've bought one but I hesitated. Now it's up to 12000 again. I'm watching again when it does go on sale. Sign up for their alerts. On the other hand, Cape Union Mart has a sale currently and you can get either the 5 plus titanium or DLC with sapphire glass for 13000 or the 5X Plus for 13000.
  10. The reaction on the driver's were completely unjustified IMO. On the other hand we see all too often how cyclists and runners in groups tend to ride and run 2 or 3 abreast in places that are not practical and downright dangerous. Maybe the rationale behind that is if we are more imposing motorists will see us better or make us an easier target to hit. My favoured route to ride from Bay to Bay on the Atlantic is a nightmare on weekends with runners occupying the entire shoulder in opposite direction forcing rider's into traffic. I stick as far left as I can to avoid being run over no matter where I ride as I would love to make it home in one piece. I know alot of us are trying to be accomodating and at times I contemplate pulling up next to big groups and asking them nicely to ride single file or 2 abreast where it's safe but we know what the response will be most times. Would love to hear from the OP what transpired prior to the altercation yesterday
  11. Yes on website. Under elevation click correct elevation. Wait a minute and refresh page.
  12. Got it working. Had to activate on Garmin in Settings - Phone - Smart Notifications - Social Media.
  13. is there an app to download on Connect or just the update/
  14. I'm using the Tickr for pairing with phone app or Apple TV as my Garmin strap is only ANT+. I usually wipe mine down and remove it from belt. It's not a very good design as the unit itself is exposed to alot of perspiration as opposed to Garmin where the belt is between unit and skin.
  15. They belong on a classic bike IMO. If that C64 was possibly a different colour with white or tan bar tape it could work.
  16. Must every bike these days have tan sidewalls?
  17. GCN will be hosting an event at end of March in Mallorca for anyone looking https://gcnevents.co/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=gcn_terms&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI8ZyYg-ne3wIV1PZRCh28oQxCEAAYASAAEgJbbPD_BwE
  18. Depends on your internal rim width.
  19. My blueteeth HR belt dropped me twice already wen connecting to my fone. The ride and hike was atleast recorded on Strava.Note to self: Plz check that wife does not press any buttons on Garmin when she puts it away. Plz don't let Garmin lie around and wife reminds you to put it away.
  20. Have a chat to Evobikes. My friend bought his new from them. My 2nd hand as new Dorito was to hard to pass up.
  21. What are you planning on getting? I bought a 2nd hand Dorrito (Direto) and it's good to know that agents are local in Cape Town. Evobikes had a good price on the Dorrito. I am very happy with mine and a friend also raves about his.
