  1. I'd be keen to come and do the route with a GPS so you guys can have a profile and route to give to riders.
  2. Ended up getting lost once and racing past many of the turn offs and having to brake hard and turn around. All an all a very nice track and finished in an unofficial 2nd place on the 55 on a distance of just over 54 km measured. Will do this one again!!
  3. hehehe, yeah really looking forward to some proper riding. Tired of all the fairly flat racing around here. I started mtbking whilst living in the Eastern Cape and have done a fair few races down there and it's just so much more interesting with all the technical and nice single track. Man you are making me look forward to tomorrow a whole lot now!!! Come 12 O' Clock I think I will be required to do some carbo loading
  4. Cool stuff, you doing the 55 too?
  5. Cool no offense taken. Maybe we can have a cold one after I'll be in ASG MTB club colours and riding a pure black carbon frame straaaaight from China
  6. Clever.... You ride for whatever reason/s whether it is to stay fit or sometimes to compete or sometimes to prove something even or maybe just because we love to be in nature or close gates or help others with breakdowns etc. Nothing to do really with being classed a real mountain biker or not in my honest personal opinion of course. So still looking forward to the race/ride/gate closing exercise regardless. Hope to maybe meet some of you afterwards
  7. "REAL MTB'ers" being ?
  8. http://www.lezyne.com/en/products/co2-systems/cfh-pumps#!Pressure-Drive-CFH
  9. Already entered on Tuesday Any small previews on how much ascent etc. ?
  10. They should apply Rule #5!!! Have a cup of cement....
  11. I just see it in every race, guys that should be leaving me on the trails because of their equipment etc. are just not able to ride technical or get off at the sight of any small rock etc. I love technical so have fairly good skills. But like with everything you have to practice these things. Start wit a freakin track stand in your garden if you have to but do something. Also people without any riding manners, jeez it's just like everyone decided they're a pro and stuff you. Anyways, off topic rant done, really looking forward to the race this weekend! Hopefully it will be a nice one and we can all enjoy a well managed safe race.
  12. Make some lifestyle changes and buy the wheels you really want
  13. Yeah me too, don't get enough opportunity to ride it (that means not every day ) Something that urks me is the amount of fairly good riders that cannot ride technical....
  14. Yeah well but it will be nice riding even though it's tough. Some good technical riding, can't wait. Would have been nice to know when and where and how much to push but suppose will have to wing it.
  15. Cool stuff man!! I spoke to Clive Hardy organiser of Voriberg and he said that they will be back next year!!
  16. Did anyone maybe pick up a silver Lezyne CO2 drive pump on the route?
  17. Cool thanks!! Have done a few Voribergs and Monsters so should be good training!
  18. Got feedback, No route map or elevations etc. so all n all good fun. Hope to see some of you guys there on Saturday. One thing I did not ask is whether you can ride with your SAS board?
  19. I emailed for more details, and will post here if I get a reply. Have entered for the 55 so long.
  20. http://www.cycleevents.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/DeWildt-MTB_Info2014.pdf All I could find.
  21. wait it's because every time is up twice ....
  22. I'm slightly confused here. First of all my chip (RAC89241 - which I have used for more than this race and is registered to my name) only comes up as the chip number in position 6 for the 40k. But it says that I was 11th ... Maybe someone can shed some light.
  23. bwahahahaahaaaa XO or nothing for me thanks
  24. That's my problem I never get out of big chainring but have not done massive and technical climbs so not too fussed about that but I run out of speed on flat sections and downhills is a free only zone at the moment. I'm fairly strong and it is on a 27.5 so will decide between 42/28 or maybe 39/26 - Think 39/26 might be the best overall solution for me. Thanks for all the feedback and cool link.
  25. Hi Guys I am running out of speed on my current setup: SRAM 1170 Casette with 38/22 up front. Was thinking of cranking it up, so to speak, with a 42/28 combination. What do you guys think? Oh and it's on a 27.5. Will this be too much when I get to serious terrain or should I be able to push it?
