You can set the tap sensitivity for every sport profile Settings > Sport Profiles > Profile X > Sport specific tap sens.

This is apparently an issue and they are currently looking into it.

That is rather strange. Unless this was after a few days off where you were 'completely' undertrained.

Hehehe Should I stop digging and complaining What do you use?

Herewith their half-arsed response: Thank you for your e-mail. You calculations and observations are correct. On the Polar V800 you are able to select your HR display as "% of HR reserve" under the "Heart rate view" for each Sport Profile. This view is then the same as the Karvonen calculation. The fat percentage for energy expenditure considers maximum and resting heart rate only and not the target zone settings. I hope this helps. I can give you a letter that it does not work like that, maybe one of you can investigate, maybe I have a dud watch. Furthermore to the second part of the response: Ok so the training zones are basically null and void then for anyone wanting to use a Polar watch as a training aid for weight control.

Picked up something else now. Diary training calories and activity screen training calories do not match...

Further to that ... I can just stick to my ranges that I know yes and my training will work as intended. The issue is that the watch will not give an accurate presentation of that. I can actually remember having the same issue with setting personalised zones vs own optimizer on my RCX 5.

    Polar V800

Ja thats what they say but the question actually came up since I had the zone pointer and the % of MAXHR indicated on one screen and also could see my heart rate on the WattBike screen it did not match. For instance I wanted to train between 60-70% and especially towards the higher end of the range. But when I was, according to what I know about my personalised settings and the HR indicated on the bike, within the 60-70% range I was already well over that according to the watch's % of MAXHR indicated and the zone was also incorrect. So therefore I am assuming that the calorie and % fat burn of Cal calculations were also incorrect. I have mailed Polar support so lets see what they come up with.

Hehee actually I do know these by heart (no pun intended). It's actually more of a functionality review thing for me as It should really work on what ever inputs you have made as none of us are exactly the same. Just makes sense to me that their top of the range watch should not work on a 'generic' (% of max) value rather than accurate values ... Don't you agree?

    Polar V800

Ok so I have a question, maybe one of you clever okes (or ladies for that matter) can assist me. I will be sending the question on to Polar as well but lets see... Ok so I have used the Karvonen method to calculate my HR Zones as stipulated in the table below. Image 1 (since the paste from word function works about as well as an underwater dartboard) I then set my Strength training sport profile on flow.polar.com as per the calculations. I also set my Heart rate to be displayed as % of HRMax as that would assist me in being in the correct zones for specific purposes all the time without having to remember lower and upper limits. However since 60% of HRMax is not the same as 60% as per the Karvonen method as illustrated below Image 2 SO here is my question: Does Polar use the % of HRMax as a base for their calculations for fat burn % of Calories or do they use my input values for the different HR levels?
  11. Awesome way to look at it! Proper cyclist!!
  12. In the following post you refers to all moaners and bitchers and is my own opinion. shame yes and as all you moaners are seasoned race organisers why did you not offer to quickly organise traffic stopages medical support water stations etc for a mere few thousand cyclists, of whom another bunch would have surely moaned about something else, in record time. Go drink some wine or visit some of the awesome spots while you down there. If you dont drink wine I can understand the whining. Put your big boy shoes on and pay attention to rule #5

Have any of you guys found it to be a bit frustrating that you cannot pause a multisport exercise? When you press back it stops the current exercise and you go into the transition. I would like for it to be one press - pause and then another for stopping the exercise and moving into the transition.
  14. I was very lucky and bought a second hand (but worn only once) one here on the hub for R1500. I am a bit of a Salomon freak however (can fill up at least one double bed with Salomon stuff ... Shoes, shorts, shirts, Ts, hydration packs, peaks etc.
  15. It is true that the Salomon packs are ridiculously expensive, but I can tell you that it is the bees knees!! The beading around the pack edges keeps it tight to your body with the help of the cross chest straps which are super comfortable. The bladder sits nicely on your back within a isolated sleeve, keeping it from heating up. There's plenty space to store things and no bobbing whatsoever even on a rough trail. I really can recommend them (imo of course) Edit.... Oh and the quick release between the bladder and pipe makes for quick no mess no fuss refilling.

Almost thought I said export exercise and not route... Aren't those what the buttons say...
  17. Izak

    Polar V800

Not yet. As far as I know it is planned for a future release. Now you have to go into the exercise and then scroll right to the bottom and "Export Exercise" and then manually upload file into Strava. There is an issue however with the files being created having duplicate dates and times but that should hopefully be sorted out soon.

I use only the watch as it is with GPS. As far as I know the footpod only really gives you strides as an extra. I would rather get a cadence sensor to go with it as I am not that interested in stride length etc as I do mostly trail running.

Mostly to Strava and the likes ... I have used the other .tcr creation tools but it's a schlep and anyways it should be fixed ... damnit.... I mean Polar you're great sorry ....

Yip I know, but I have been away since 12 December do you know what an absolute pain it is editing almost 30 files ... aaargh. Anyways lets hope they EVENTUALLY sort it out.

I agree!! They seem to be having their knickers in a twist about all the wrong things!! You still cannot export multisport excercises and the issue with the duplicate files created by the <id> time stamping the excercise as time of export rather than excercise time. Weekly summaries has also been lost somewhere. Ai jai jai. Well let me stop complaining before I get another rap on the fingers
  22. Please send me some more details ... izakmerwe@gmail.com Yeah I agree Tour de Tuli is one I would lovvve to do or that one in Madagascar!!
  23. Dunno if I agree with you. If we label this as boring we can just as well say K2C etc. are all boring. I think they all have their place.
  24. Done 3 halfs with best result topping off the top 10 so on to the 80 next year. Less waiting at the freakin river crossing Hopefully. Hope to see loads of you there truly is a proper race.
