  1. A HA... Martin T... and whoever was with you ... Please do not stop in the middle of the road to chat. Move slightly sideways so others can follow the line!! I'm already loving this!!
  2. mmmmm good idea, I can now go and check who the three idiots were parked in the middle of the road in Groenkloof just after the s-bend down section on Saturday.....
  3. Still waiting for the lockout I ordered from my LBS!! Frustrating to say the least. Does anyone perhaps have a normal lockout lying around that they want top sell?
  4. No obviously fitness, power, core strength etc are fundamentally important and come before any technical ability in my personal opinion. (They are like the A C D E cords ) But to improve you overall ability as a rider the rest is important too and makes your ride just so much more enjoyable. Lets face it, it's MTB so if you're in it to just ride district roads you are missing the point and a whole stack of fun with it imo. Rule #5
  5. I've seen guys in A and B bunches that could not spell technical nevermind ride it!! It's like learning to play guitar and never trying out a song with a difficult cord in it somewhere, yes you will get really really good at A C D E etc. but hit an F or anything slightly more challenging and it will ruin the fact that you have ability to play the others well. (I know this as I am currently in the process of learning to play acoustic ) But learn how to play an F (read take a drop off or fly into a berm no brakes or do a trackstand or ride rocky terrain etc) and you will be able to enjoy much nicer songs (riding / races) and look better doing it Start on the lawn with stuff like track stands and fall your knees f.... up because you could not hold the stand or click out in time. Repetition repetition until you get it and next time when you hit that unsuspecting rocky section and lose momentum you will not have to click out but ride the damn thing Learn it, Live it, Love it man!!
  6. Has the 36 hours passed? A link perhaps?
  7. Must say I have been using XO on most of my bikes and have never had an issue. XT is good too but I have had many issues as soon as the conditions get really bad....SRAM click click like a BIC Just a personal pref that has proven itself for me. Must say on the brakes side I am not impressed with the XO's. XTs and Maguras that I ran before were much better but think I must swop them for Hope

Have finished my second bottle now and can say this at a very high level: Pros: Good protection Doesn't get lost in water or dirt Cons: Very stubborn to clean

  10. I thought, since I needed new shoes and it is my b'day coming up next week.... I treated myself
  11. Ok have some more feedback after my previous comms: Racetec: Hi Izak, You could still participate in our events, it simply means that they would not receive the whole race’s (all the participants) data. Me: Yes but that means that they won't get my result and therefore it will not count towards SASeeding? Racetec: That is correct. That to me means then that I will think twice about entering Racetec timed events. Especially when trying to get a good SASeeding score. Pity really!!
  12. Bought myself a fairly descent and complete tool kit and have been servicing myself and must say it really has taught me a lot about my bike and also saves a shizzload of money as shop services are bloody expensive these days. Bought a full bleeding kit as well and manage to bleed brakes etc. One thing I would like to get someone to show me the ropes on is wheel building as I think there is a bit of an art to it.
  13. Been using for three months now and all seems well. Have done some serious muddy riding and races and this stuff sticks. It takes a good bit of scrubbing to get off after a ride. So far so good for me personally.
  14. Exactly this was my response: Thank you for your feedback. This will then in essence mean that if a SASeeding is important to you you will not be able to attend any racetec timed events? (if you cannot come to an agreement)
  15. Ok have spoken to someone at Racetec and this was my question and their response: ME: SASeeding informed me that they are waiting for the results for above mentioned race form you. Could you please advise on the status of this soonest. Racetec: There are currently negotiations regarding whether or not race information from our database will be given to them, however, an agreement has not been reached.
  16. @#@%!! That's ridiculous!!
  17. Cool cool, any idea on price? Just an arm or a leg too?
  18. Hi Guys Anybody know where I can buy a SRAM XLOC Full Sprint lockout? It's the one that locks both Revelation and Monarch at the same time. Any assistance would be appreciated.
  19. I've given up...
  20. Fort Fordyce in the Eastern Cape is just over 700m in just over 7k's! Was my first ever MTB race
  21. Both bikes, shoes, helmet, glasses, Polar and Thule comprehensively insured. Yes it is expensive but I will still have to save for a #$%@ long time to be able to self insure!
  22. AWESOOOOME!!
  23. O cool, please keep us posted!! and thanks
  24. 3K is a fine weave, 12K slightly coarser and UD (unidirectional are made up of sheets with unidirectional strands. Most frames consist of the same build underneath the top layer and the 3k or 12k are merely applied as a "last" layer for cosmetic purposes. This will obviously change from manufacturer to manufacturer. Gloss is as it says gloss finish (like a polished look) whereas MAtt is matt sorry but that's really just what it is (slighty dull looking finish). I got the 3K finish as that is what I like and did not want to paint the bike but I know that UD is very popular as it looks nice when painted since there is no "carbon look". Hope that helps a bit...otherwise .... Google is your friend
