  2. Always insure my watches helmets, shoes everything. Currently as specified on my home insurance with mutual and federal for R40 / month and R250 excess.
  3. I think this is only really possible by making a copy of the GARMIN\APPS folder and copy it back after your update. This could however screw with either the apps or the update if there are compatibility issues. I have only owned Polars before my Fenix and it was always a breeze to setup the different exercises / apps online or in a windows app. Maybe they will d it at some stage, I have posed the question but have not had any feedback. Will keep you guys updated.
  4. Don't hold your breath though, I have submitted several suggestions to their suggestions team but they have yet to be implemented. Such as distinguishing between offroad and onroad as I don't want my 21k road time to compete with my 21k trail running time and same with road and mtb. Similarly distances. It dilutes the stats and really cannot be compared. Anther issue I have is that you cannot switch Sensors off for certain apps. So I have made a Gym Cardio App but I am not utilising any sensor data on that apart from HR. Similarly I have a Wattbike profile where I utilise HR, Power, Speed and Cadence. We have a few Wattbikes at the Gym and you don't always get to use the same one so you pair with all of them. So every morning I come in for a Cardio session I have to first cancel the connection requests from the 14 odd sensors and can then start my Gym Cardio app. Small issues but just makes it frustrating to use.
  5. Only crap isnthat you have to setup apps again .. on the watch. Still dont understand why these cannot be done on the garmin connect portal or express app or at least backed up there like with Polar. Such a shlep!
  6. Got the v7 update this morning everything still ok.
  7. I haven't had this issue but loads of issues with stored heartrate downloads from the HRM-Tri band. Either did not work or corrupted files. Eventually did a hard re-set and so far so good... To do this power off the watch and then on again, as soon as the Garmin logo is displayed hold the start and back buttons in until you hear a beep. On the first beep let go of Start whilst still holding in Back until the second beep, then let go of Back. NOTE: This will delete everything from the watch...totals VO2 max etc etc etc. But ist does seem to sort out some of the issues...

  9. Thats really very little over the distance.
  10. Yeah those are also reasons for not going that route and also tend to loosen the strap a bit more when on the Wattbike so I can turn the watch to the side of my arm to enable easy viewing. The main gripe people have is that a strap is uncomfortable and chafes but I have the HRM-Tri version and really haven't experienced this even on long rides and runs. Anyways think it will come down to personal pref in the end.
  11. I've been wanting to do that even since the Mio sensors were out but it seems that the accuracy vs chest strap is just not there yet. http://www.wareable.com/sport/heart-rate-monitors-chest-straps-v-wrist I don't mind a chest strap that much really but util the optical wrist monitoring is more accurate I think I'll wait.
  12. I wear mine 24/7 and have done so for the last 5 months. Gyming, Trail Running, Mountainbiking etc. Not a single scratch on the glass at all. Few smallish scuffs on the ring but as I said in an earlier post, this is an outdoor sports watch and those few little marks will happen. Should I really get a big scratch I will order a replacement glass / ring and get it fitted.
  13. You're right but it only cost a few 100 bucks so still a bit cheaper than the difference between themtwo watches. I will never use the metal strap so it's a waste for me personally. I went with the normal version and will get a replacement glass and ring if needs be. http://stores.ebay.com/PARTS-FOR-GARMIN It is afterall an outdoor watch so not too fussed about the odd "adventure reminder"
  14. From me to me
  15. Yip but it does not seem like every time however. After upgrading to 5.0 it has happened twice though.
  16. Some serious skills there. Awesome
  17. Cool let me know if you're still having issues
  18. On the main screen there is a menu option called ANT Channels. Select that and select all the sensors you want to see. Once you do this you will see a code at the bottom of the Wattbike screen which is unique to that specific bike. When you the Add Sensors from the sensors menu on your watch it will pick up all available sensors and you simply select the ones corresponding with the code of the bike you are on.
  19. I have done a fair bit of running well actually sport in my life but have only recently started trail running (it was the only way I ran whilst still growing up on the farm. However I would like to join a club in Pta or Centurion just to meet with some like minded people and maybe get my arse into gear to be a little more serious about it. Any ideas / suggestions?
  20. Always been a niner fan this takes a step away from their usual design though...dunno if I like it...yet
  21. Where the trail ends ..... improvise.
  22. Absolutely love it! Gotta get this guy for able ppl who park in disabled spots. It seems that my baseball bat approach to make them legit is landing me in hot water more than I care hehe
  23. You gotta love it cause if ya dont ya be dead man!!
  24. Yeah same here, I have had mixed success with the short adidas pants as they are fine for gyming and even a road run but because of the amount of movement going on when you're trail running they don't work for me for that. Just went and checked at Duesouth and they have some decent Salomon ones with that lycra inner for 399. Where do you guys get just proper trail running tights? (without the short part).
  25. Trust me Anton I am so frustrated! Haven't even had time to get a magnet yet alone fit and go for a ride and not looking good for the next few days either. Hopefully on Sunday afternoon!
