  1. Thanks but can only get info on XR29 wheels, these were 2011 wheels. The 2012 version is an XR39, probably not much difference? Looks like about 1750grams. Only 150g more than American Classics or Ztr with light hubs and spokes. Not really worth spending R5k plus on 150 grams when your a weekend rider tjat doesnt race much
  2. Can anyone help.me with weights on these wheels. The 2012 Scott range 29ers come out std with them? Many thanks
  3. Yup very common fault, Try this Loosen the two bolts holding the stem onto the fox steerer tube, then tighten the bolt that runs vertically down through the steerer cap that pulls the fork up tight against the head set. Dont over tighten. Once this bolt is tight then only tighten the two bolts holding the stem onto the steerer tube. This should fix the problem, Good luck
  4. Guys at Chris Willemse Cycles well done!! Every now and again one tends to buy on specials from different suppliers, and experience poor levels of service!!! I live in Nelspruit ordered some parts on line from CWC yesterday morning 11am (thursday 01st sept.), The parts were delivered to my office in Nelspruit this morning 09h30!! Thats 1100km (west coast to east coast almost) Friggin awesome service guys well done!!! I wont buy anywhere else
  5. The New Scott Spark 29er,,,,,will have the best components and be the lightest. Arriving end of August

    Spark 30

Buy a second hand one. I just sold my 2010 with full xo, for 16k. Great bike very light, very fast and great climber.
  7. Hi there, Im looking to upgrade my 9 speed group set to a 10speed? Its on a SantaCruze Tallboy 29er, and i weigh 100kg's. I have always had three blades up front and am concerned that 2 blades up front will restrict my granny gear ability? Im a heavy cyclist on a29er? I have an option with shimano XT to keep the three blade up front with the 10 spd option, but prefer the to go SRAM, I think they only have the 2 blade option up front?
  8. I already have both forks but need to fit one on my tallboy and sell the other. So is it Rock Shock Reba XX or Fox F29 for a 29eer, I weigh 100kgs,
  9. Hi all, If you had the choice would you use a Fox F29 100mm fork or a Rock Shock Reba XX?? The fox has a 15mm thru axle, the Reba XX a 9mm skewer. Fox a little heavier but stiffer with the thru axle?
  10. Awesome buddy, the world needs pioneers like you. I wish you success and may the project bring you rewards.

    Scott Spark 30

its amazing it just lost 1kg by using the other bathroom scale!! sorry that was doff, it weighs 12.2kg,s not 13.2 scale was incorrect. Just lost another 600grams with egg beater pedals and protection tyres instead of full UST. Down to 11.7 by spending only R1200.00. Thanks to all for your comments, its an awesome bike, very stiff and makes me look a lot better on the climbs with the twin lock system!!
  12. Hi there, I have a Scott Spark 30 full carbon 2010. It weighs 700g more than my Santa Cruse Tall Boy 29er!!! Where do I start to drop a kilo or so? she weighs 13.2kg. Standard spec as per Scott website. SLX/XT groupo, DT Swiss XR 30 wheelset. Maxxis LUST tyres. Rock Shock Reba SL fork. 120mm. Dont want to spend huge mulla's. Where is the most effective place to start?
  13. ' In last months Bike Radars mag "what mountain bike", the Editor rates the Am Classics 29er's the stiffest, best build quality and best price 29er wheels he's tested. I find their reviews very accurate and helpful, he has over 26 years experience in testing MTB. Good luck
  14. hi Darren, Roger here, bought some brakes from you just before the Argus. Hope ur well, I changed from my Giant wheels on my Anthem X 29er to American Classics. Weight saving was 380grams, thats all. I also have the ZTR 29er crests, Hope hubs ect (buycycle web site specials) R4999.00. Am Classics slightly lighter and come with factory rim strip. Weight limit 105kg's. Probably just confused you? Cheers
  15. Guys its simple, I have had several 26' full sus and had a anthem X 29er and now have the Santa Cruse Tall Boy. A 29er requires more effort to climb. Are you a good climber? If not stick to the 26' bike. Simple. What you gain on the levels and downhills with a 29er is normally much less in time than the time spent climbing in any event or ride. Strong climbers 29er Weaker climbers 26"
  16. Is the 29er not better suited to flatter less technical disciplines? Cross country is very intense and technical?
  17. Cycling SA must burn for this. They have hijacked the cycling world in SA, not for the passion of cycling but for financial rewards from the cyclists. They have been warned (publicly on TV) by the old school organisers not to hold stages in the CBD's, and to incorporate the staff who have been putting together events for many years. All this has been ignored by the CEO and his hench men. Id love to see Mr Mocke on SuperCycling now in front of Andrew Mc, so much egg on his face he'd look like a omlette. Unfortunately the only losers is SA cycling/cyclists, we need new organizers quickly before international sponsors and teams stop coming to SA. Is it not amazing that the Argus the largest cycle event in the world, goes like clock work. 30 000 cyclists through a CBD, but organized by the pro's. Resignations please Cyling SA
  18. Its a joke, say goodbye to international cycling, just like formula 1 GP's watch this space.
  19. Hi there, I privately sponsor a talented school boy who has shown incredible talent and dedication to MTB racing. He has just been invited to cycle for SA in the up coming international in March and July with his aim on representing SA in the olympic team. I need to buy him an appropriate bike to give him the best chance of doing this discipline XC racing. He is 61kg 1.88m tall and has an in seam of 85cm!! He rides an XL frame. 26' Ht? 26' Dual? or 29' HT?
  20. Hi there, Does anyone produce a full UST 29er tyre yet?
  21. The Tallboy rocks, awesome geometry, handles like a 26' bike. Very light too. Go orange
  22. Hi there, I have a 2010, 9 spd XT crank, my middle chain ring needs to be replaced, can I use a SLX middle chain ring will it fit?
  23. Yup the Anthem X29er is a very different machine to my Sworks Stumpie, more plush, 2kgs heavier, but as a tall 1.9m cyclist a much prefer the Giants ride comfort and geometry. Dont think one can compare the two as the design ethos is very different. But for your average outrides and XC races that are not very technical, the anthem 29er is my choice! and half the price. Be nice to be able to keep both, two different horses. But need to save my marriage first.
  24. I weigh 100 kgs had my Anthem x 29er XL two months and hammered it. Dont know if you know but all Giant frames have a lifetime replacement guarantee, regardless of year. Whats the fuss its awesome, lighter and a lot more affordable than the frames shown above!!! Theres no time to hesitate.
  25. I've done nearly 1600km on mine, I weigh 100kg's and ride them hard. They have been great, no hub problems! Highly recommended
