  1. A bit further but Merry Pebbles in Sabie.
  2. I am more surprised that you are getting 0.7% on a hard currency account.
  3. Just do a check on the buy and sell ratios on physical gold and silver plus the cost of storage, I think you'll find ETFs are the way to go.
  4. 15 years is the current lifespan on the topline prosthetics.
  5. We spent a huge amount of time consulting Physicians to determine exactly what they would look for and in the end it was exactly what the anesthetist was looking at. What happens now is that if there are co-morbidities identified the patient is referred to a Physician for these to be addressed before coming back to us. The entire process has been designed to reduce risk and drainage is actually a huge risk because it prevents mobility.
  6. This was exactly why the clinical pathway was developed and that's to make sure that a patient is properly assessed to ensure that a patient that is susceptible to blood clots is identified early on. The patient is subjected to 3 separate checks for this and other potential complications. The current process is flawed in that the anesthetist generally only sees the patient on the day of the op usually a 15 minute cursory check , under this the protocol is to give the anesthetist an opportunity to do a proper pre-op assessment. The other risk is that blood clots occur because of the lack of movement while lying in a hospital bed. Because there's no drains etc the patient is able to get mobile and prevent clotting.
  7. My doctor partners have developed a clinical path for certain patients (manageable co-morbidities) that allows for patients to be discharged on the same day as the surgery. This is for full hip or knee replacements and so far this year they have completed 37 patients without any complications. Patients go in early morning and literally walk out on crutches in the afternoon. We are shifting these procedures to day hospitals which is how it's done in the US, 70% of patients are eligible for this type of surgery and it reduces the average hospital stay from the current 4.5 days to a partial day. This saves on cost and it gets the patient out of the hospital and away from the risk of infection and COVID. People are literally back at work within a week. Ground breaking stuff for SA, the sort of thing that will be on Carte Blanche very soon.
  8. Fibreglass has advantages over conventional cementious based solutions such as algae resistance, heat retention, easier to clean and flexibility. The latter is also it's downfall as it can de-laminate from the substructure so it is important to ensure a very good bond to the substructure which can be achieved by doweling , unfortunately there are very few contractors that do this.
  9. Cemcrete is good make sure that you acid wash the surface to get rid of any organics and use the bonding liquid before applying the new surface.
  10. I think you're on a tangent my reading of the OPs requirement is that he needs an inverter to connect his 12volt battery to. That implies that he has a bespoke charger which operates off a normal 230v supply which is why I am more focused on the power produced than the volts.
  11. I got the impression that this was not a portable set up, assuming it isn't the 300w panel measures 2x1m and with an input of 300w it should charge a 365w battery in about 1-3 hours if fully discharged. You could go for smaller solar panels it will just take longer. As a back check my overland camping set up uses about 22ah overnight and it takes about 5 hours for the 130w panel to charge it back to 100% while the fridge is still drawing off it. If I disconnect the fridge it takes less than 3 hours so that gives about 7ah /130 watt in an hour, so that it's possible to use a smaller panel. The price difference is about R400 on R1200 to get double the capacity which helps on cloudy days so if you have the space go for the bigger panel.
  12. Or even better just add a 300 w solar panel with a MPPT Solar charge controllers to the battery and charge during the day.
  13. Agree as a rule I apply a factor of 2 when matching inverters to load so if you need 100w go for a 200w inverter. If the load includes the start current for a motor I apply a factor of 3.
  14. Not sure if this has been posted but one of my favs.
  15. You are still paying the interest on the 30% balloon payment just not the capital which is 8%/12 x 224819 x 30% = R449.63. The only way the balloon payment works is if you have a guaranteed buyback otherwise avoid it like the plaque.
  16. Seems like he had to dash back to the finish to do this.
  17. He got told on the bus on the way to their digs that he was given yellow in default. He basically acknowledged that Alaphilippe was the real leader but for the transgression.
  18. I really like the humility from Yates in accepting the yellow jersey, great for the sport.
  19. There are security vehicles in the reserve up to 9 am in the morning on weekends, this is done as a community service by Brinant, CSI and Axxon security so not guaranteed. After 9am it's not advisable to ride and after 8 am on weekdays. I am trying to arrange this on a permanent basis but it needs the involvement of the surrounding estates and it will take some time.
  20. Or they want us to rather focus on cycling related topics
  21. Unfortunately, this is now a regular occurrence at Klapperkop. I had a meeting last Sunday with the three security companies Brinant, CSI and Axxon involved with trying to make the area safer and they have undertaken to comeback to us with a proposal. What is currently happening is that the security guys are present from 7 till around 9 am and the attacks are happening after they leave. I have asked that they give us a schedule so that we can adjust our riding times to this. Please bear in mind that they're currently doing this free of charge as a community service but have no obligation to do this. It might be that we will have to establish a fund to compensate them to make this a commitment, I will let you know.
  22. Could be but I have changed my routine to midday during the week because the trails are too busy and I am tired of people not giving a hoot about masks and social distancing. This is the case in the mornings and late afternoons as well.
  23. Not sure when you visited, it took a while to build a clientele but before COVID the place was buzzing and I doubt whether it was a numbers problem. Even during LD I found about half the parking lot full at 12h00 on a weekday, on weekends the parking lot is full for most of the day hardly a ghost town . The issue could be high rentals, COVID or a combination thereof.
  24. This is really sad nice bunch of guys and my dog is going to miss his buddy Bear the Labrador. Bear belonged to one of the guys at Trailwolf and would join us on our hike or run, Ranger and Bear formed quite the team sniffing out rabbits and guinea fowl.
