  5. Bert Dietz, a former teammate of Jan Ullrich has admitted using banned performance-enhancing drugs with the assistance of two team doctors. Dietz, who rode for the Telekom team between 1994 and 1998, said he was introduced to the use of the blood booster EPO by the two doctors, Andreas Schmid and Lothar Heinrich. Dietz spoke in an interview on national television late on Monday and became the first rider to acknowledge doping among the team, now known as T-Mobile. He did not implicate any other riders from the team, but said they must have been aware of what was going on. Dietz said the two doctors introduced EPO in 1995, explaining the way it functions and the risks connected to taking it. "If we wanted to ride at the top, we would likely have to take it," Dietz said. "They offered it, but in such a form that everyone knew: If I don't take it now, I'll probably have such bad results at the end of the season that my contract would not be extended. It was clear," Dietz said. The two doctors were recently suspended by the team. Dietz's admission follows revelations by former Telekom massage therapist Jed d'Hont earlier this month. According to d'Hont, two doctors supplied EPO to former Tour de France winners Bjarne Riis and Jan Ullrich and other riders and the substance was supplied by the University of Freiburg clinic. D'Hont worked for the team from 1992-96. Riis won the 1996 Tour and Ullrich finished second. Ullrich won the 1997 Tour. Ullrich retired in February after being implicated in the Spanish doping scandal, but he has denied ever taking performance-enhancing drugs. Riis and the two doctors also have denied doping. T-Mobile said on Tuesday it would revise its cooperation with the Freiburg clinic at the end of the season. The clinic provides regular health care to its riders.
  6. Yeah I know, but it was to take place in your valley
  7. Well with the entry fee that they were asking, it's no wonder no one was interrested. Sadly Tropical tour is going to go the same way... Only 2 (two) entris as yet. Entry pricing for Tropical tour has inflated 300% in three years
  8. Are you gonna have great specials as in the 2007 Team Raleigh again?

  15. Yet again, there is not enough Tandems to be allowed to take place. Another year of preparation might be for nothing.... Unless we can organise more Tandems to enter... according to CSA... Are there any other riders that might consider going to SA's in Bloem to take part in the Tandem race that have not Entered?? Or that might reconsider entering??? Please PM me Thanks
  16. Typical!!!! Just at the start of the Giro!!!! It's maximum sensation just to sell their crap newspaper!!!! the Italians and French will do anything to implicate and eliminate other riders so that their riders win their Grand tours!!!! You can't trust the results of that Doping Labs!!!! Their Integrity is soooo questionable!!!!! They have a hidden agenda!!!! Who Leaked the information to the Media????!!!!! Who will they ask to incriminate next for a more lenient sanction???!!!! Ehrmmmm.... wait... ooops.... I only see now!!!! , It's from CSC about CSC....
  17. Don't understand?
  18. ASO is the guys that is prepared to make a stand! They declared outright: No implicated riders will be allowed to start the Tour or ASO Races The UCI wanted to take them to task for that. Now they (UCI - McQuaid) are suddenly singing from the same podium, declaring "I am especially sad to learn that a talented rider like Basso has apparently partaken in illicit practices. However, I try to see this news in a more positive context. Our increased efforts, with our other cycling partners, to put riders under pressure appear to be paying off." They never put pressure on anyone!!! ASO is the guys that put pressure on everyone!!!
  19. And... at least he's not trying the famous Lance/Landis/Hamilton defense that the Spanish Guard has a vendetta against Italian and German Cyclists and planted the Blood in Dr Fuentes's lab, or that the search was unconstitutional, etc, etc, blah, blah ,blah, fish paste, fish paste!!!!
  20. No come on Rock!!! He only considered depositing Blood when he heard Jan deposited blood. Not that either of them really wanted to dope, but you know, just in case the other one actually doped, then they could both be on equal foot!!!!Cruxpearl2007-05-08 10:31:00
  21. He will not be allowed to race for a Protour team for 4 years That would make him 33, and not racing for 4 years will not be good for his racing form...
