  1. Depeds which way you go. The piece to Vangalen is not great and narrow but do able. Heading to pelindaba side around has a nasty 8km bit . if your are carfull doable but be aware traffic is heavy and road is horrid. But once you turn left up saartjies nek = fun. on the 5th they doing the Ian Audax 200km and the rout normal goes past pieces there. If MTB vangaalen is awesome and there are many places. Also a nice 27km one way if you do from peacon wood on the 300 road and back past upside down house. rolling hills nice climbs

Great ride, great event. I did not race it, as broken ribs and a bad fall few weeks back made me loose some training time. joined a friend who had an operation. we chilled and just went to ride our bikes. Enjoyed the vide, the small crowds everywhere and the kids all smiles next to the road. Cant wait to chill it again next year. did a 4:20 but was so chilled and pushed my fair share of tnt chariot, tandems and individuals up some of the climbs. Do I want to improve my time. Hell no. was so much fun. even stopped for 10 min on he Nelson Bridge to take in JHB vide. and a note on traffic. I think they dropped the ball in one small point. they forgot (or i missed) that the New Nasrec turnoff will be closed at 5:30. When we saw the long que as in typical JHB style we passed only to find out that at nasrec the double lanes was open and seems people forgot about it. 10 min in and parked 150 meters from start. We left 530 mogale.

I have not yet received QR code but have booked over a week ago. what is interesting is i received a sms for promotional digital package @ only R379.00 And before any one asks. there is only a unique code but no QR code and my number is being collected. He has copy of all documents except QR code. 947 Ride Joburg - Confirmation Expo Booking mail done 5 days ago. and my last edit. I have never done the 94.7 been riding for many years beforet aking it up again. And must say the amount of complaining is interesting making me wonder why? But i entered and will go ride (not race) i thought that was the point of this when it started but seems it has changed over the years. must say the fees to enter are getting a bit ridicules. Every ride is what you make of it. Guess back to the Audax and long rides for me.

they sounded relieved to get someone nice on the phone. I do not think people fully understand the situation and to get upset not going to help much and they seem to be taking the brunt of it my hats of to them

lol After many races including some long ones seems my batch seeding ran out of letters. Makes no sense and even if you do ask for re seed get a polite know. Or is it just me. I know of a few people wo dont even race and got better seeding. My concern is not the time but the lack of experience in some of the lower batches. on how to ride in groups etc.
  17. So yes agree however. I did not just complain and did go to cycle lab and tried to speak to them. No Joy And interestingly on Sunday morning at 715 driving my son to a cricket, saw a group (some very Young perhaps under 16-18) with older riders. 8 in toal taking up the road. as we were approaching robot i stopped next to them and said morning and explained i am also a rider that perhaps they must be a bit more careful riding next to each other. And for my troubles i got swore at. And sadly I see more roadies having a *** attitude than not.

  22. So glad i found this thread. Did the parys road a while back. cradle to ventersdrp, then potch to parys was awsome. Have the Silverback gravel Siablo with 29 x 45s. Doing the grit with it and then will see some packing trips. re bags. Sometimes takelot has some nice deals and have been using lizzard and rock bos all under 2k. also like the warmshowers.com option
  23. Just some info to pass on. General IQ of population and the world I think has dropped many may points in the last 18 months. It has happened over the sea and is bound to be some one here that will follow Criminalisation of transmission of SARS-CoV-2: A potential challenge to controlling the outbreak in South Africa A small portion of the article but still relevant. South Africa: Deliberate Or Reckless Transmission Of COVID-19 May Have Severe Legal Ramifications On Wednesday, 24 March 2020, it was reported that a salon owner from KwaZulu-Natal, Ladysmith, breached the rules of home-quarantine and went on with his business as usual at his salon and thus exposing his employees and customers at risk of contracting the virus. It was also reported that criminal charges (for attempted murder) were laid against him, but postponed due to the national lockdown of 21 days. In this example, any customer who visited this relevant salon and thereafter got sick and tested positive for COVID-19 may potentially have a delictual claim against him. The potential claimant will have to prove that the salon owner's wrongful conduct which was either intentional or negligent (fault) has caused harm. Although all these elements will need to be proven, the most likely challenge in succeeding with such a claim will be to prove the element of causation i.e. that the owner caused you to be infected with the virus. This is due to the fact that transmission of the coronavirus is very easy and, unlike most viruses, does not need the exchange of bodily fluids, blood contacts, etc. Albeit this being a probable challenge in such claims, the surrounding circumstances will dictate the outcome of each particular case. If for example, a potential claimant had recently tested for a COVID-19 and his results were negative, subsequently goes to this salon and thereafter falls sick and tests positive for the coronavirus and he proves that he has not been exposed to any of the high risk areas/individuals (abroad and locally). If all factors are considered holistically and, on the balance of preponderance, show that he probably contracted the virus at the said salon, the owner may actually be liable. The success or failure of the claim will, like in any other claim, be determined by the relevant prevailing circumstances.
  24. Actually now. it was on the second uphill so dont see the reason behind a group taking up the whole lane when they will be doing that climb. And again this weekend i was amazed at the utter lack of care, selfishness and stupidity. I had no choice as it was part of the 200km ride. Anyway. bonked twice over 300km this weekend so really no more f#cks to give.
  25. Then i have very very very dense bones but ttais a great article and use it in long distance but about 1 minute of cycling time saved per 100 km ridden for a 1 kg weight saving. use it dont use it. My Munga weight was 95. but the stress and covid has pushed that up. I got down to 102 but seems to get stuck there as i gain muscle and shed fat. Now hovering 105/109 depending on the day. I also did the R2TS and sub 6 hour so for me some weight loss would be great and I am trying but my diesel engine needs a big tank.
