  1. Naw. my winning days are long gone. and if i want to win i go shoot my Bow. now I ride because i can, I want to, and i enjoy it. Too many people are always racing and not actually slowing down a bit to enjoy the journey. Strava hunting segments etc. I love taking someone over their first 100km the joy they have and the memories it brings. I gues we all ride for our won reasons. Yea so i carry a lot of crap with me. Makes me feel better and always a cool conversation starter. This thread case and point. My racing snake friends go out with the least amount of kit and bleed but that's them and they enjoy that.
  2. There we go. just made it before i ran out of hydration. Gp500 is 10.66kg without pedals. Bottles and all bits on mine comes in at 16kg add the lockdown weight gain...........
  3. actually now you all have me thnking so let me go unpack and lay it out with a quick pic. Will also do a weight comparison quick. give me 10min
  4. I use to say that however have learned my lesson and am a strick believer in 750ml-1000ml per hour riding and my back pockets are reserved for food. small snack every 30 min. I don't like suffering so much anymore and Munga has tought me a few valuable lessons. The list does look extensive but right down what you take with you on your ride and bar a few things won't be that different. But list the items individually.
  5. II am a bit OCD with this. Rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Also as I do long distance it just become the norm for me. Either on my dual sus or the gravel bike. It is also amazing how many times i was able to stop and help some one that did not have it with them. Funny story on my last Magalies ride ran into a group that had given up hope and was about to call a friend. I just so happens that I still had my 650 b tube with me and was able to sort them out. It doesn't add that much weight and as I am not a weight weenie I also believe if I want to shed some grams just have a good morning movement. And if it doesnt kill you makes me stronger. _ Must admit Silverstar and sterkies is fun downhill but coming back sux sometimes.
  6. ah forgot the leatherman. Cassette not too stressed can always make it single speed fixi Chainring i think is overkill
  7. Always on. but i also carry medical kit and thinking about it. list of things always with me. wether t is a 9km ride in HP or a 12-hour+ ride. Bike is tubeless 3 tubes for my bike 2 tubes different sizes 1 x hanger Patch kit first aid kit space blanket spare jockey wheels spare brake pads 6 bombs 2 x plug kits 3 different type of multi-tools (strange how many bikes use different configs) Tyre levers goo sealant chain lube Leg warmers arm warmes small jacket rain coat small 2 x water bottles and camel back 2.5 lt. Cellphone 1 x 5000 external battery rear light front light Jeff and bob my 2 companions always on my bike. Ya think that's it.
  8. Lol i have the lizard one and it stays on my bike. Strange how many times I have stopped and people have nothing with them. even basics. Then again I am no weight weenie. Just makes me stronger....

  10. Might chuck in the Al 3 as well in your spreadsheet. Seen them for around 27-32k Oh and thanks as it saved me the hassle of drawing up one. Owe you a beer.
  11. Hahaha 10Kg. LOL, when training for munga it was 28kg more...
  12. gladly when I have a chance later today. But will it make a difference. doubt it. Why bother posting. Guess we must all keep quiet and accept that they live amongst us. A few spoiling it for the many.
  13. after a long cycle, yesterday in the cradle must say cradle wars are coming. And I can't blame them. Not point sharing the footage but seriously disappointed in our cycling community. Lambast me all you want but this is my observation and I have the footage but will make no difference. From taking up the whole road to being inconsiderate across the board (Yes a few or small portion) but when it gets taken away who do we blame. Even the arrogance of riders blocking the whole road and creating an unsafe environment for everyone (Yes, your group going past avainto ) where there is already limited space. The group of 5 that forced me to pass on the wrong side of the road because the yellow lane seems not big enough. Groups chatting in the yellow lane with friends People not thinking there are other cyclists coming from behind and just crossing the road Of my 60+km cycle, only 28km was in the loop and this is what I experienced. the other 40 was on public roads where I had no issues with cars, other cyclist, bikes or even runners and pedestrians. Makes me wonder. Do we somehow change when we get to the cradle or do we behave like this always? Not sure? but in all the km on public roads and trails outside the cradle have never had any issues.
  14. 2de hand is great and you can get some bargains but if something does go wrong.... Silverback al3 is what I am looking at after selling my stumpy and riding gravel currently. Think you have 2 choices. 1: Buy and hang on to it for some time. look after it and she will look after you. Ie blow your wad once 2: buy a bit cheaper and make sure you are in for the long haul and then make sure you by something you can upgrade components. Bikes are always fun when they belong to someone else. they also go faster, ride smoother and have no mechanical Note: Building your own is great but again beware service parts etc might bite you later if you are not too mechanically inclined and it has to be done at a shop. Sometimes a mix and match on your dream bike is great for you but not later when you want to sell or upgrade. Other than that go chat to a few bike shops, look at atersales and who you are comfortable with because it is a serious relationship. Go ride and enjoy.
  15. thanks for the ideas. Breeds is gonna sux with a 42:42. Wish i was back to 95. Lockdown and munga stress. still paying the price. Just want that little bit of easy climbing. miss my 34 11-46
  16. Quick question here and looking at all the comments. have 42 front 11-42 back. find in the hilly bits the 42 : 42 is a bit of a killer especially on the long climbs. I am playing with the idea of a 34 in front??? Momsen 500 gp ANd before i get lambasted. i am talking long climbs breedts, sterkies some mini munga rides etc. top end is wearing thin and enjoy the cruise. due to lockdown weight gain and still recovering from Munga
  17. Lezyne. get 40+ hours.
  18. Very happy. They added RRP to the site and if you do do a bit of home work then... Must also add my local shop matched a sales price in a different province as it would have saved shipping etc and would prefer to support my local shop. I have spoken to Momsen and they are friendly and service is great. So much that I have sold my Specialized and got the GP500 and now looking to add the Vipa Ultra via the local shop.
  19. never once cycled on HP. bidon out to magalies
