  1. What is the best degreaser for your chain? is it ok to use something like clean green or must I get bicycle specific cleaner to protect my parts?
  2. Did the 45km and must say it was awesome, some of the best mountain biking I have ever done really tough going through mountain sanctuary but manageable and the last 20km or so were simply superb. And how was that little concrete bridge and the path through the trees and orange orchards, will definetly be back next year.
  3. The Gobi's been killing my butt! Dude are you sure its installed correctly remember the pointy bit is supposed to face forward not up
  4. Also we will be staying at Mountain Sanctuary for the race does anyone know if there are good spectator viewpoints in or nearby MS as the Wife and my son would love to watch a bit of the race.
  5. I am in for the 45km, looking forward to it going to be challenging, will be riding my new steed thanks to the Omnico bike specials. A brand spanking new Mongoose Canaan team really going to be awesome to test it out on the ride
  6. BULLS! Cant see it going any other way, the Bulls are unstoppable at the moment and the rest we took against the stormers paid big divedends against the crusaders. Had the game in the bag almost from the start
  7. [ If it's really a deal-breaker for you, look up the spec sheets you can easily find on the web. It's really not that hard. Have you ever tried to find the weight of a bike ? its extremely frustrating most manufacturers websites do not have the weight of the bikes anywhere, they are quite happy to give you a spec list, but somehow dont seem to be able to afford a scale to weigh the bikes, have you ever wondered why this is? Is it not because they know that when it comes to buying a new steed and we are faced with two choices as cyclists we will 99% of the time choose the lightest option. Will always ask the weight of something I am looking to buy,
  8. Hope this is not another "Cape storm" Water bottle, Ask your wife to check you will probally find it in the bags
  9. Dont you get 2 diffrent types of derailers, a top and a bottom pull ? Think you might need a new derailer.
  10. When I was there on friday they were open until 6pm
  11. Thanks Regard will look out for it!
  12. Very much so went and tried it out on Friday after getting the flyer, managed to get in about 15 km it's not bad but not groenkloof, the best climb was on tar I am afraid up to the spanneskop fort really beautiful views from up top there, there looked like there were some offroad options on the way down but it was getting late so no time to explore. The main trail is well marked but other options were few and far between, hope they mark the trails properly and it will have great potential. I will be using it for hill climbing as it is a really steep and long climb to spanneskop until I find the off road option.
  13. 9, 10 and 11 are the one's
  14. You see even Zig Zag had to pay damages to an unfamous minor for using a photo without her consent, now what chance does CL have in there case when they used a photo of a mrs SA for advertising purposes without her consent? they should have settled long ago before any of this came to light, and as for the sum of money she is asking for seems to be the going rate
  15. Joe Low how can you add a smiley after that statement, kind of takes the edge off your righteous indignation, really if you want to make a topic about race then stand by your convictions, I think if you have a look the hub is probally 80% white male cyclist, and in general if you follow the threads most people get attacked in petty personal terms when the general hub population feels slighted by there actions. Leave the race card in your pocket where it belongs.
  16. Have to agree with Alan, dont just defend cycle lab as a knee jerk reaction, this is a legal case she has a very strong case and will most likely win why? because its illegal to use someone's picture for the purpose of advertising without there consent simple, cycle lab is guilty, do not think they did not know what they were doing when they chose that specific picture. Cmon they chose it to get free publicity based on the fact that she is a celebrity of sorts, they new what they were doing was illegal and now they are caught they must pay
  17. Awesome love going over klapperkop on my rides look forward to seeing the Zebra's thanks for the headsup, and as already mentioned 5h30 in the morning on klapperkop in the cold, thats dedication.
  18. Used to ride with pepper spray when I was going for solo rides and luckily never had to use it. I think I need to dig it up again and put it back on my bike, but as always the best defence is to be alert and be ready for anything, be suspicious of strangers on the bike paths if they dont look like they belong there then they probally dont, I agree with a lot of the posts it is better to fight back if you can, but never at the cost of your own life. Sum the situation up and then decide if its worth it or not.
  19. Hi WW bit confused when you say you dont like tubeless arent the ZTR's tubeless rims? or did you mean you dont like tubeless conversions because of the extra weight?
  20. Speed is your friend, hard to believe on a rocky decent but you will be surprised,
  21. C'mon guys its going to be great, the biggest sporting event in the world in our country it can only be awesome. South African's need to stop being so pesimistic every time something good is on the horizon, stop being so selfish and worrying because a race is cancelled.
  22. Hey guys I am the afformentioned buddy, and I must admit that the domin8tr has a case, I am a bit lighter then him but neither of us are light weight I am 90kg's and Domin8tr is 94kg's (or so he claims). Anyway new and better wheelset should equal better performance should it not, compared to the old set he had on where he was easily freewheeling past me and I had to peddle to keep touch he is now lagging behind. as to the importance of freewheeling I would say that over the distance of a race less energy because of a better/ faster freewheel or rolling resistance so when you lay down some cash on a product that is supposed to help you perform better, it is dissapointing when the reverse is in fact true.
  23. Dude that sucks, Glad you guy's are ok and I hope your insurance was paid up there is a link under the forums for posting stolen bikes, maybe someone will see them when the bastards try to sell them.
