  1. I thought the days of riding narrower rear than front were gone
  2. How fast do you want to go ? I have 5x5mins to do tomorrow, 5ish start from corner of sandown/r27, on the way to kloof/suikerbossie
  3. Then probably reach out to City Cycling rather, they really have all types of riders, all the way up to elite. Outriders seems more chilled
  4. MMh I thought I had these but mine are 2.35... Not sure what's the max your wheels can take though sorry
  5. This is a 2.4, plenty of grip, and the front lasts, you'll probably run 2 or 3 rears for one front
  6. https://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/maxxis-rekon-race-tyre take two of these, you won't be sorry
  7. Don’t get me wrong I also think it was a terrible choice of tyre, but it doesn’t mean that the whole brand is ***, I’ve ridden lots of their tyres over the years, some I found terrible, some I found absolutely amazing. This applies to other brands too, you just have to chose wisely according to how you plan on using them !
  8. Yass how many times are you going to post that maxxis are *** and that PFP has no teams skills ? We got it the first 3 times…
  9. So what’s the next MTB race so that us wannabe’s SCR can reconnect with the reality of how tough a single day marathon race is? 😅
  10. Yes very impressed ! Next time I'm getting pushed off the trails by one of them I'll say thank you sir 🤣
  11. Crazy how epic is demanding on components, they are all having issues I've never had in 30 000km over the last 2/3 years, and I'm assuming most would go in a race like this with a fully serviced bike !
  12. I would pay big bucks to see Alaphilippe attack up chapies and/or suikerbossie 🤣 Unfortunately we'd probably miss it since the coverage will probably show the women when it happens
  13. if you can find a XT 1x11(or XX1 1x11) it's the best option, 12 speed is useless and a pain in the ass. I upgraded from mechanical XT 2x10 to 1x11 on my old bike and never ever had any issue, life was good and all I needed to worry was ride my bike. On the new bike I started with XTR 1x12, now I'm on GX AXS / XT cassette / XTR chain, it works much better but there's always a noise that pops after a couple hours in the dust, like said before, tolerances are low, chainring alignment requires compromises, and the extra gear doesn't justify the cost and trouble (again, I found it completely useless, on the road since I moved from AXS 12spd to Di2 11spd I do find that extra gear would be nice to have, but on the MTB I never found it was useful to have it) If you really want to go the 12spd route GX Axs is a good idea.
  14. According to instagram he’s doing ok 👌😬
  15. Better start working on my daughter's training plan then, if the prize money is the same but the field is much smaller, the chances of success are much higher ! (Even though the top of the field is still mad strong)
  16. I have XTR and Dura ace chain, I don't know of any better ones for "marginal gains", still the only time I ever broke a chain was because I re-used a quick link. I almost broke a SRAM Force chain, only one plate on the inner link was broken no idea for how long I rode like that before I found out, but replaced it before it actually snapped
  17. I only know the "race" and the "pro". I like the "pro" a little bit better because it's longer, but I think they are only available if you order customised kits. I just rode this morning on the IDT with the "race" one, and the padding is exactly the same, they feel the same on the bike.
  18. I wear M for Alé/Ciovita/Assos/GoCycle bibs, Assos is a bit short and tight for me, Alé and ciovita perfect, Go cycle the race bibs were just a little bit short, the pro ones are perfect now : To give you an idea on how M compare in lengths on myself : Alé : https://www.instagram.com/p/CTzmr4DM1Pg/ https://www.instagram.com/p/CRuOLacHWMX/ Ciovita : https://www.instagram.com/p/CWIiNpQslcF/ Gocycle : race : https://www.instagram.com/p/CXdBpTvsCDy/ pro : https://www.instagram.com/p/Ca1zixnqok-/ Assos : https://www.instagram.com/p/CNk5kUzHijH/
  19. Ok so I am racing for Go-Cycle on the road so obviously I only ride Go-cycle stuff on the road. I used to rotate through all my other stuff while riding the MTB (Assos, Ale, Ciovita), but now I pretty much only ride with my Go Cycle stuff as over time it's just what I find most consistent and comfortable for me, the padding is slightly thinner than Ale and Assos, but I like it better because it offers better consistency if that makes sense, I never feel like on the contact points with the saddle it's moved or it's not straight or has soft spots. Alé is my 2nd choice if I need to save my team stuff for the next days, padding is a bit thicker but still offers good consistency, overall I think it's close to Assos in terms of feel on the saddle, bit more consistent/precise. And I love the looks and cut. (and you can buy 3/4 of them for one set of assos) Assos I find them too short, too small (both mine are M, like all the other brands I own), I actually need to stand quite a lot when I wear them for a long time, so I barely use them anymore. Ciovita mmmh since everyone seems to love it I'm not sure I want to give my opinion about I only have one bib, and it was my first one (so the oldest, about 3 years old), probably has the most hours as well, so the comparison is a bit biased. I have a pair of Corsa and I find now they are very inconsistent, I always feel like the padding has softer points and makes the rides unconfortable, it's now my last choice when getting ready for a ride (Except for the 1st ascent stuff that I must still have somewhere, those I think I'd rather ride naked than with them). But I never was sold on them, to answer your question Ciovita vs Alé I'd buy Alé every day.
  20. I'm currently shopping on takealot and realise that Ale products are now available there, and reasonnably priced too : https://www.takealot.com/seller/troisport?sellers=29842476&filter=Sellers:29842476&filter=Brand:ALE

    The Classics

Just read this, surprised of the "no signs of concern", I'd be very very concerned !
  22. exactly, the lead ladies are very fast compared to the average racer (not even talking average Joe)
  23. surely they know what they are doing better than we do
  24. hopefully they put new ones on since these have 10 plugs in them already 🤣
