  1. Yeah, saw the Motorex gazebo and got a friendly greeting from Rob as we zipped past. Would've stopped, but we had a babysitter deadline to stick to and we were running/riding late. Very good idea! Saw plenty of riders on the Spruit on Saturday AM so the brand exposure would've been good.
  2. Don't get into fights much' date=' do you, Sean? I wouldn't take on a guy armed with a knife or a gun with a 12g CO2 cartridge. Not even a 16g one... [/quote'] Flight or fight? Flight would be my first reaction - hit the nearest downhill and pedal like hell! Not many downhills on The Spruit though! Fight decisions would be determined on the weapon of the assailant...
  3. If it was such major issue, why didn't you walk up to Andrew and voice your concern there and then? If I have a problem with a restaurant, I tell the manager/owner while I have the problem. I don't wait till I get home and then complain on a website forum.
  4. What is that? All I know is that I can ghillie withou some special cloting. I was high school ghilie champ. Half colours or full colours?
  5. so what's happening in your other sock dude? Hees ankle ees visiting... Hees moms bruvver

  7. Ask holy' date=' it apparently makes a good offensive weapon if you spray it in your face... I mean in your assailant's face... [/quote'] Classic! Bombed at 8am...
  8. Are you saying we can avoid a-salt with pepper? Very sharp Sean stuff the pepper spray' date=' just carry a dagger in your sock like I do[/quote'] Not sharp enough to stab an assailant though! Daggers are great until you're staring down the barrel of a stolen gun... I reckon a CO2 bomb makes a good knuckle duster. If there's time/space, the front wheel makes a great weapon too!
  9. Also heard about danger up that end. I don't ride there.
  10. Where about? I interviewed two cops yesterday that have a SAPS MTB patrol unit that tackles this kind of problem. Any more detail you can share on this? Where do they patrol' date=' how often etc? Where will the article appear? I'd be quite interested to read this. [/quote'] November issue of Bicycling. On sale in about 10 days I suppose.

  12. Oh, and to answer your second question, my wife and I ride on The Spruit most weekday mornings (after 08h30) and have never had any problems. But I must say that I'm always wary of the 'bush sleepers' as the cops call them... Nancy Drew reckons she rides The Spruit on her own and feels safe.

  14. Isn't that Humpty Dumpty's stepbrother?
  15. Isn't that Jackie Chan's stepsister?
  16. Thanks for the compliment. I averaged 29.8km/h in that same race two years ago. And, mostly dirt roads or some proper dual-suss-specific terrain?
  17. Best warm-up 'oil' is sweat. Just glowing on the skin as you arrive at the start line. Tip: Arrive 20-30 minutes earlier and actually warm up.
  18. Or PM DvG. He knows those road and rides better than anyone since I left the coast...
  19. Contact Cycle Lab in Durban North. They may know.
