  1. TitusTi, the others were announced some time back. Only the women's road and BMX were officially announced yesterday. Full squad: Sifiso Nhlapo (men?s BMX racing), Burry Stander (men?s mountain bike), Yolande Speedy (women?s mountain bike), David George, Robert Hunter, John Lee Augustyn (men?s road race), Marissa van der Merwe, Cherise Taylor (women?s road race).
  2. Okay, listened to/watched it... Protest song, with visuals to match. Rap with some brass and a violin ? different. I loooove the violin!
  3. Aha! That's better. More than seven words these days is considered talented! Busy buffering on Youtube. Will give you feedback when I've had a listen.

I can't really judge it until I hear it I suppose. Will search for it on youtube. I dig this one from The Killers: Bling (Confession Of A King) lyrics When I offer you survival, You say it's hard enough to live, It's not so bad, it's not so bad How do you know that you're right? I awoke on the roadside, In the land of the free ride, And I can't pull it any longer, The sun is beating down my neck So I ran with the devil Left a trail of excuses, Like a stone on the water, The elements decide my fate, Watch it go..."bling". When I offer you survival, You say it's hard enough to live, Don't tell me that it's over, Stand up Poor and tired, But more than this How do you know that you're right? If you're not nervous anymore, It's not so bad, it's not so bad I feel my vision slipping in and out of focus, But I'm pushing on for that horizon, I'm pushing on, Now I've got the blowing wind against my face So you sling rocks at the rip tide, Am I wrong or am I right? I hit the bottom with a "huh!" ?? Quite strange, I get my glory in the desert rain, Watch it go..."bling". When I offer you survival, You say it's hard enough to live, And I'll tell you when it's over, Shut up poor and tired, But more than this How do you know that you're right? If you're not nervous anymore, It's not so bad, it's not so bad... Higher and higher, We're gonna take it, Down to the wire, We're gonna make it, Out of the fire, Higher and higher. [x2] Higher and higher, We're gonna take it, Down to the wire, We're gonna make it out, Whoa-oh-oh Higher and higher... It ain't hard to hold, When it shines like gold, You'll remember me.
  5. The Scott Spark LTD dual susser weighs 9.2kg for the complete bike and the frame and shock is 1.790kg (3.85 pounds). And it's comfortable to ride and it's easy to clean... The Scott Scale Ltd hardtail weighs 8.6kg and the frame is 980g (2.16 pounds). Maybe not so comfy, but fast ? and easy to clean! Sean Badenhorst2008-07-09 11:22:22
  6. Vermarc. If it's good enough for Belgian winter weather, then you know it's good enough for our mild SA winters... I have the long-bib and the knicker-bib, both of which are very comfy. vermarc.co.za, click on 'Contact'.
  7. So what does it weigh? No point telling us it's the lightest in the world without giving the weight...
  8. Correct. For now. Unbelievable isn't it?
  9. Slowbee, that's Sauser. He rode with No. 1 cos he won the marathon world champs in 2007. He should also ride with No.1 again next year after his appeal has been considered... Sauser is a brilliant mountain bike racer and could even become one of the greatest ever (some reckon he already is) as he is still relatively young. He's also the current XC world champ and at this stage, looks like the favourite to grab gold at the Olympics...
  10. On Sauser's website www.sauserwind.com there is mention of an appeal having been lodged. If they can change a race result due to a positive doping test days later, I don't see why they can't do the same for a result dispute. It is the 21st Century and we do have technology to help with, er, frame-by-frame replays...
  11. We should give CSA credit here. Mostly we find it easier to criticise than compliment them. But there is clearly plenty of good work being done by CSA.
  12. Not sure of the precise rules Slowbee, but body contact is common in sprints in road races. As long as a rider keeps his hands on the bars and his feet in the pedals, body contact is pretty acceptable (expected even) in tight situations. The key really is whether or not a the front rider in a sprint (in this case Sauser) moved off his line deliberately or not. Sauser had the lead and he held his sprinting line. It seems like Paulissen's body contact is what led to the crash. I feel sorry for Sauser.
  13. We have a round of the BMX World Cup in Pmb next year and the BMX World Champs there the following year. A round of the XC/DH/4X MTB World Cup will be held in Pmb over the next three years with the possibility of the 2012 World's being there. The Tour of SA should happen next year (2.1 UCI event I think) and the Giro may be upgraded from 2.2 to 2.1. Exciting times for cycling in SA!
  14. Just watched the clip and reckon Sauser was robbed by the officials. Sorry, official. He was ahead and never moved off his line. In fact, where the barriers narrow, he even edged over (away from Paulissen) slightly. Paulissen made body contact first and Sauser simply leaned slightly into Paulissen (as you do when there's body contact on a bicycle) to counterbalance. Dramatic finish! Just a pity the gold didn't get awarded to the actual winner.
  15. turtlek, Hushovd didn't flick Hunter. There's drifting and there's flicking. Hushovd and others drifted across Hunter's line which is Hunter's bad luck as it messed up his momentum. Serendipity, what key words did you use to search on Youtube for the Sauser/Paulissen clip?
  16. I always ride with a helmet and make sure my kids do too. I always use my seatbelt when driving in my car and make sure my kids do too. When I see a stranger riding without a helmet or driving without a seatbelt I just mind my own business.
  17. To me, this is the ultimate endurance sport challenge in South Africa! Well done Tim and Carinus, both pioneers from the early MTB racing days and still going strong!

Originally posted by Mampara Sean, it's not "FIT", it's "PHAT" dawg! Peace out! Correct Mampara, that is in the US-youth speak, Dawg. The Pom-youth use the term 'fit'. I have a 10-year-old son that is a national champion Hip Hop dancer so am exposed to a (mostly U.S.) youth culture overload constantly via TV, music, fashion and language. Even my two-year-old son says 'Peace Out' with the little clenched fist when he goes to school...
  19. I reckon it's when you feel confident and in control for whatever the physical challenge is you are tackling. This usually requires thousands of hours of dedication to gradual conditioning, physically, mentally and emotionally. OR It's when a woman is hot in modern youth-speak eg ? 'Oh my dog! How fit is that chick?!'
  20. Congratulations Robert and Claudia! Welcome to the 'hood! Parenthood. More proof that cycling doesn't cause impotence...
  21. As far as I know, the bigger rotors offer greater stopping power. The rear brake slows you down and the front stops you. Of course this will all be verified/corrected by Johan Bornman when he logs on later...
  22. In general Gauteng motorists are actually very courteous compared to Durban and Cape Town drivers. It was the first thing we noticed when we moved from Durban to Joburg eight years ago. Sometimes they're even too courteous, going out of their way to let you in and affecting the natural traffic flow. I appreciate Gauteng motorists every day. Honestly. Having said that, I now work from home so don't have to deal with as much traffic as most...
  23. Agreed HR. Mail and Guardian ran an interview with Sifiso Nhlapo last week and used pics of him in old SA team kit from two years ago. This despite Sifiso's manager handing the journalist a CD of current images at the interview and the journalist receiving current pics of Sifiso from MTN's PR agency on a regular basis. Magna Carta do the PR for Barloworld and send out pics of Hunter every time he does something significant. Often, the person that receives the press release isn't the one that puts the programme/publication together so the production person ends up doing a search for 'Robert Hunter cycling' and just uses the first pic he or she finds. Too much mediocrity in media these days. I hate mediocrity!
  24. School was awesome! I envy my kids every day. My oldest son's biggest decision every morning is which sandwich to eat first. My biggest decision every morning is what's the best way to stay above the breadline... Stay at school. Appreciate it. Make the most of it cos one day you'll be envying your kids every day too...
  25. wannabearacer, there are 8 sub-R9000 road bikes reviewed in the July issue of Bicycling magazine, which will probably be on sale this week.
