  1. Sounds like you have been in the wars. I've fortunately only ever broken my wrist, still rode my bike with my cast on a few days later, the joys of being built like rubber when you are younger. Other than that its just sprained bones and more just scrapes, bruises and of course ligament and muscle damage that have been caused by falling off the bike. I hear you when you say you are not in the mood for the pain, I am only happy with the pain of my legs and lungs screaming at me going up climbs but not when your body comes to a sudden stop on the floor. Really hope that you can get over the concussion sooner, rather than later. Before anything I spend a lot of money on protecting my head especially after the effects I felt from concussion.
  2. @Robbie Stewart I had my last proper fall in 2019, had concussion, a mangled shoulder and a good few scrapes and bruises, but the biggest thing was the mental scars of the crash, took me a good few weeks to heal up physically but mentally it took a lot longer. I rode a few times afterwards but then just decided, nope not for me until 2021, where I got a bike again started off slowly, building myself back up and I am now the fittest and strongest I have ever been two years later. I keep pushing myself to become better and faster but within reason, I will be 32 in May and I can tell you the falls don't get any easier and your body just doesn't bounce back like it did before, so I keep that in mind when pushing through certain sections to remind myself about the crash in 2019 and to just stay in my limits, think about getting home to my wife safely and trying again another day. Try not to call it quits, just dial it back and try find that balance that will help you to enjoy riding again and wanting to be out on the trails. If you are feeling good on the day, by all means go for it, but if you not feeling the greatest take the B line and just enjoy.
  3. I think if washing is wrecking your gear then you are using the wrong methods to clean them.
  4. You could also use Perspirex Foot Lotion, it helps manage the sweat on your feet. Using this and some of the other solutions the guys have given you should be okay.
  5. Main event for me is my first Trans Baviaans, looking to do Race to the Sun, will see what other longer races pop up as well, then will do a few Trailseekers and possibly 947 road race for the first time.
  6. While I was watching my wife was asking why the other guys even turn up to race when these two are there😂
  7. I think over this entire cx season where WVA and MVDP have raced, when there were more technical elements, like mud and soft sand, WVA has been the more dominant one and has made far less mistakes. The course yesterday definitely suited MVDP more and he had the additional advantage of the home crowd.
  8. Thanks for the feedback @DieselnDust I am currently on Maxxis Aspen, have had zero issues with them, but want to try something else, I have gained interest in doing more endurance races this year and in the future so need to find something that can manage all terrains well.
  9. Not sure if many people have tried the Pirelli Scorpions, I have heard some good things about them, thinking of trying them out when my current set of tires give up.
  10. Surprised that they never decided to put Colombo with Nino, seeing how well they worked at Tankwa last year, and they weren't even teammates then.
  11. I run 1.2 bar front and 1.3/4 on rear depending on conditions, I have even gone as low as 1 bar on the front and 1.2 rear. I must say they are definitely not great in mud, but what I learnt is do not fight it, they do find grip eventually. On more technical descents they can also leave you with a few clench moments as they don't stop the best but the grip on the side is very decent, you just need to learn to trust that they will grip and trust in your abilities as well.
  12. I ride with Aspen's, I have ridden them over just about every terrain and have not had a days issue with them over the last 3000 odd kms I have done on them.
  13. Hi Guys, I would like to find out, for those who have imported some stuff and it has gone through the absolutely fantastic service delivery of our beloved SAPO, do any of you know what it means when there is an exception on your parcel? I have tried to contact them but we all know how difficult that is.
  14. I think Titan are currently in a position that the likes of Hyundai/KIA were in all those years ago, and now what Haval/GWM & BAIC are in. They are providing good products with great specs at a much affordable price compared to the premium brands, you get the people that are really happy with the products and feel like they made a great decision to buy what they did, and you will get the others that will always say its a terrible product etc.
  15. Speaking to guys that I ride with, majority of them say that they no longer race or do events is because they are tired of being ripped off. From stage races to one day events, people are starting to lose interest because of the costs to do it all and would rather go out and spend that money on a trip away with the family and ride trails in that part of the country they go to.
  16. It is Thaba, it’s looking great at the moment, honestly haven’t ridden there since they started with the estate. Some of the trails could do with some work after the rains, but other than that everything is in a great condition.
  17. Nice hot ride this morning.
  18. You definitely could, we averaged 23km/h over the whole ride, on less than ideal tracks in some parts so being on tar you could easily do that.
  19. Was my first time out riding in The Cradle and Magalies area. Was great to ride some proper hills and climbs, and the mud just added to the fun factor!
  20. It’s surprisingly not that bad, going down certain trails can be quite risky and I’ve had my moments, the only fall I’ve had is when my dad rode into me😂 but overall it’s not bad.
  21. There is, but it is passable which is great. The trails all over were very muddy, was dodging mud everywhere today, thought that the trails would be drier by now.
  22. First ride of 2023, unfortunately my riding had to wait as I woke up with a stomach bug on New Years Day, so that was great, but great to really get out and ride again.
  23. Looks like a toughie, my legs are crying stop just looking at this🤕
  24. @ChrisF you are absolutely right. Just hoping that they are reading this forum and taking some notes. I think Wayne needs an increase, sounds like he is the one that is making them look good😅
  25. It is weird, surely by now they would realise that happy customers come back and will always refer one to use them, and that would start with customers being able to order like they would with any other online retailer. They have shown intent on keeping up with the times by building an app, but yet they cannot provide a true “online” store to their customers. From this forum alone you could possibly make up the cost of potential sales lost due to their online store process being such a hassle. We live in a world where we want things done quicker, faster, cheaper and easier, and Bike Addict have only one of those things covered for the most part.
