  1. I would describe myself as a mountain biker who does the occasional ride on the road. I've always perceived Roadies to be a bunch of arrogant people who ride next to each other taking up the whole road and only care about speed and the weight of their bikes. On Saturday morning I went for a ride on my road bike from Sea Point to Noordhoek side of the mountain. On my return my rear tyre decided to commit suicide. Two flat tubes later I was pushing my bike up Chappies. I lost count on the number of roadies who slowed down to ask if I need help/a spare tube etc. Those roadside chats turned the crappy experience in quite a nice one! So for everyone who stopped to help... THANK YOU! It made me realise how the little things can change your perception about people!
  2. ... and whatever focus you had on the race!! How to mess with the fragile male ego. I'm quite sure not one of the guys who stopped in front of these ladies showed how tired they were at that point in time... Stamiek iiin.. chest ooouut!!!
  3. So much for SLEEPING during the holidays!
  4. Sounds yummy!! When in Dec do you plan to do this? I'm done with work after the 14th!!
  5. There are two sides to the story, but if you agree a time and place to meet someone, at least have the decency to honour that agreement first!
  6. I had a similar experience last week when I wanted to buy a Bell helmet. Was the first one to post a reply. Arranged a time and place to meet the guy. On my way to meet him, I phoned to confirm the address, when he informed me that he sold it already. WTF?
  7. Lucky you! Get on that MTB and ride it! Like the guys said, your body takes a different strain than on the road.
  8. For those of us in CT... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/85448-ergofit-bike-fitment/page__p__1172731__fromsearch__1#entry1172731
  9. And people wonder why I prefer my mountain bike!? As a newbie on the road, I have to get used to the politics and etiquette of riding in bunches. No use in complaining about it. Every sport has it's injuries... I didn't hear Schalk or Victor complain that they were tackled too hard after Saturday's rugby.
  10. Good gracious me!! It is easy to criticise from the sidelines. I’ve been involved in organisations where you try and perform a service and then have to face the critics for your efforts. I share some of the gripes about the PPA, but moaning about it on a forum is not going to make any difference. I think any person who pay to enter an event, should get all the “benefits” they paid for. That includes results. If the same person wants seeding, they should pay for that too. If you can't beat them, join them! As Icycling pointed out, there are not even enough people who are willing to join the committee to fill all the available positions. If you want young blood to run the show, get enough people to volunteer for it and get voted in! Be the change you want to see!
  11. ... or you can join us on Saturday morning
  12. It's ugly... It's ugly... I don't want one of those... I don't want one of those...
  13. Drool....
