  1. i need to learn how to do that back wheel 1st jump off! normal lifting the front is so yesterday
  2. This is the actual bike, cannondale 2009, dunno which model?
  3. Trying to find a manual so that i can maybe service it myself... Good idea bad idea? Wanna see if i have the correct pressure and spring. Trying to set the bike up correctly. Also i dont know if the shocks need a service. I think its a 2009 cannondale
  4. Hey guys Trying to figure out what year model this rear shock is so that i can download the owners manual for it. i know it's a manitou 4 swinger 4 way... dunno the year though... also want to find out what spring is on there and if it's right for my weight... please help guys, it needs some attention. thanks!
  5. you talking bout that chicken meshed downhill slope type thing? Hardly a drop off, more like a steep gradient slope just shift your weight back a bit, cover the rear brakes, hand off of the front, exhale a little just before going down (helps you relax), don't tense up, and enjoy
  6. no rocks but now that you mention it it might be worn thin, coz i've had it for probably 3 years now? and i like endos and all that jazz... is 3 years life out of a rotor good or bad?
  7. tried truing the rotor last night. didn't achieve much without the proper tools. so then i placed it on the stove. That helped a bit. but the whole disc is mangled. more than one place where it is bent up and or down. so i'm gonna have to buy a new one. but that got me thinking why did it bend in the first place? so yeah i grabbed a hand full of front brake, leaned back and the wheel didn't lock up. so lots of force on the front. but will it not happen to my next rotor as well? and some might say just don't brake that hard again but then i'm sorry whats the point of strong brakes? maybe it was just a cheap crappy rotor? Running a 180mm Ashima with avid elixxer 3. any comments?
  8. Thanks guys, will try the shifting spanner with a thin clean cloth between the spanner and rotor. If that doesn't work I'll put it on the stove (what could possibly go wrong)
  9. Hey hubbers, Any of you guys know how to straighten / flatten warped disc brake rotors? the best solution i could come up with was to place the disc under a heavy book any help would hopefully save me the cost of buying a new one fanx
  10. Any idea who did the photos or where i can get hold of them? I saw one photographer on the route...
  11. I decided to get some decent UST tyres before going tubeless. Looking for mountain king 2.4 or similar UST. So after i wrapped my rim with two layers of duct tape, and failing at installing the piskriek 2.1 UST tyre, I re installed a new tube, gooied some baby powder, and put in some slime. Pumped it up hard and it held great during the race on Saturday. But there are some amazing advice in this topic, even had a few PM's so im sure ill come right once we go tubeless
  12. do you perhaps know who did the photos?
  13. thanx johan and hayley, printed the messages, will be taking them home and doing tubeless over the weekend. no just to find a decent size tubeless tire, like a 2.4 UST. also have a brand new out the box tire which i bought yesterday for this little project that im not gonna use, its a 26 x 2.1 piskriek tire. up for sale at 400 bucks
  14. so tried last night and was unsuccessful.... the problem i had was getting the tire to seat on my rims. In the UST tire packaging i bought it said "fits on UST rims only" so that got me worried but i pressed on... So i cut the duct tape perfectly and neet, and wrapped the rim twice... Then i made a small hole, stuffed through the tubeless valve and tightened it as best i can. then i put the tiny 26 x 2.1 tire on.... it looks soooo small compared to my mountain king 2.4's that were on then i saw a huge problem... there were massive gaps between the rim wall and the tire bead, and i mean big, like 6mm gaps. and this is due to my rim being so wide and the tire still being deformed from the packaging. so no matter how much air i forced through the valve at what tempo it didnt help. i even tried seating the tire manually and then inflating but no luck....
  15. just got myself some black duct tape, tubeless valve, stans, and a 26x2.1 racing ralph or rocket ron(can't remember what the name was).... so tonight it's me and my rim
  16. where can i get some?
  17. what do you guys think of the Vredestein Killer Bee UST 26" tire?
  18. Okay so I read you can use any rim... Can i just gooi some duct tape, a tubeless valve, stans and a UST tire? edit: is the 20" bmx tire really necessary?
  19. Thanx all for the response! okay so i will do the tubeless thing! been getting punctures from thorns not so much pinch bites as i ride a very hard pressure! even with the slime in the tubes i still get punctures!! do i take the rim tape off before wrapping insulation tape?
  20. So i think i'm cursed - i always get punctures! and it's making my rides soo unpleasant! so i need the help of our hubbers... what can i do to alleviate the situation?? I've checked the following: - im running mavic 325 rims, with proper rim tape covering all the spoke holes - no damage to the rim (that i can see) - high volume 2.5 tubes with mountain king 2.4 tires still new - i had tire liner installed with slime in the tube (took the tire liner out as i was still getting punctures with or without the tire liner) - there are no thorns/objects stuck in the tire - i'm pretty sure it's not me damaging the tube when putting it back - it only happens to the rear wheel how can i ensure no more punctures?? tubeless is on my to do list but i need a remedy before saturday's usn race at big red barn. any help will be much appreciated!
