  1. Ek dink dis net meer 'n geval van "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"
  2. Did Red Barn for the first time the previous weekend. Very nice singletrack. Other than that I normally ride with the guys from Epic Sports, and we do trails in Irene, Olifantsfontein etc, some awesome sections and most rides include sections of the old USN as well as Red Barn route.
  3. Did that PPFFFTTTTTT moment u had in Groenies result in new tyre, or was it fixable?
  4. Agree with most posts on this page. It only was my second outting at Fountains and one in a very long time. Yeah, maybe I was slow, but unfit? No. Unskilled? oohh yeah. After many obstacles I though, damn, could have done that one. So yes I think the intention of the ride was good, but it was difficult with 17 riders, as many also said . Slick nailed it right on the head, maybe we should have split right from the beginning. (Oh yes, expect a PM from me, need to go to the Spruit School sometime) One group could have done Fountains, and the other Groenies, and then switched around. But its also a matter of repetition and as Ms Slick put it, just to get out there as much as possible. Even with being nr 17 most of the times on Sat, it stil was awesome, had some good laughs and chats and met awesome folk. Definitely the kind of people I would suffer with on a looonnggg ride.
  5. Thanks for a nice ride guys and girls! Was nice meeting will stick around longer next time. Btw, nice contact lenses there Patches!
  6. Or in the words of my darling wife: "built for comfort, not for speed"
  7. glad I'm not the only one....
  8. Was just about to ask the very same...... Think meeting point is in Groenkloof. I drive a light Metallic blue Verso with a red Spez Rockhopper on the back (see profile pic for the all too suburbian "my family" stickers)
  9. Du-oh, its 18-95 for 500ml Prepsol...
  10. I've sourced some Prepsol from my local Midas today. Its not that Expensive, just over 18ZAR for 1litre and just over 90 ZAR for 5 litres. Now to get my bike dirty and test some!
  11. I'm off....have fun boys and girls
  12. O nee d*nner, I would like to see if I can out-live her
  13. If we start at say, 7 am, should we be finished at 10am-ish? I have to make a quick exit on Saturday, its me and the Boss' wedding anniversary, but she graciously gave me permission to ride. Even though she has no interest in the sport, she surprises me sometimes....
  14. I had a race like that a year ago. First a puncture, then the chain got stuck between crank and frame, and then my rear shifter broke. What made it worse is that it was like 10km from the start/finish. So I walked back, chucked my bike on the bakkie and waited for my friend to finish with a few cold ones and a burger
  15. Only if you show us mere mortals some gap jumps etc
  16. No witty or even remotely funny reply to that one.I guess every group needs a mascot, seems like there is a place for people like me after all...
  17. You, sir, are kind indeed.
  18. Hey, what can I say, i you're good, you're good!! Maybe I should ride solo on a tandem?
  19. Yep, PM me the dope details then if you wish...only real dope that works is T.I.T.S original plan for the weekend was to do 35-ish kms's ended up doing 53km and survived, so there's hope!
  20. Being new to this group, I will gladly assume the duties of sweeper on the day, this off course means I get to keep all unopened Chocolate Steri Stumpies
  21. Maybe just a related question here? OK I know its not much BUT I do a 18km ride before work 2-3 times a week and then try and go as hard as possible (doing this for three weeks now) the route stays the same, but on a few occasions there has been about a 850m difference, even though I virtually rode exactly the same route, even all the small klippies etc. What could be the cause of it and how accurate is Endomondo really compared to Garmin/Bryton
  22. hmmmm how to make a proper spyker bomb? 7am good for me as well....thank heavens. If I'm not around when my son (almost 4) wakes up, its a warzone at home until I get back...
  23. Thanks. Think that just some pointers here and there will make a major difference. after more than 2 years mtb'ing I think Im wayy behind... Been to Fountains once, and boy it was funnnnn
  24. Yep, I will bring an airhorn and emergency flares as well, as I'm bound to get lost! hehe only joking
