  1. Think its time to get my ass into gear and join one of these rides. 10th sounds good, and you all sound like an awesome bunch of people See that Mr Slick will be there as well, hopefully me learning some technical skills will not be a hopeless case....not that I'm totally useless, there's just a lot of room for improvement!
  2. Cool, thanks. Just one question that I asked earlier, and it seems like you will know the answer, when switching to 180mm rotors from 160mm is some kind of adapters needed or can you move the position of the caliper? (should be the latter I think, havent looked at the different setup options for calipers on my bike yet) and would you add a 180 to front or back?
  3. Good to see I'm not the only one switching over...
  4. Thanks!! see the Juicy's havent even made the list..... SLX it will be....should be substantial upgrade. One day when I'm big and jumping around the Spruit some Hope Tech's will do
  5. yep 160mm. good to know....but knowing myself very well, I would probably go for a full change.... And just a another Q: changing to a 180mm would probably improve stopping power....my logic tells me it should be in front? But then again do you need some kind of adapters etc. I know that I could probably google it Ive done a bit of reading on the SLX/XT/XTR and from what Ive learnt is that is seems like XT is almost better than XTR in terms of stopping power and SLX is just a short bit behind?
  6. I currently have Avid Juicy 3's and is considering going either for Shimano SLX or XT. Can I use these with my Avid rotors or would I need to change those as well?
  7. That seems good!! I've been to Breedts a few times last year, and will definitely be making a plan to get there again. Just want to give myself a few more weeks to get to acceptable level fitness wise. After a loong break, I took off my training wheels on Wednesday this week...
  8. Hey guys, I know the title is slow and unfit.....what pace are you going at? WIth the way things are going now, I should be able to ride sweeper for you end of Nov.....
  9. speaking of base training, when do most of you normally do it? Busy getting back into some kind of form slowly but surely, and want to do ot all according to the book this time.
  10. eish, almost reported your post instead of replying to it! I guess that most people knew that the TDF is/was/will forever be riddled by doping, but choose to turn a blind eye to it. But as I said, Lance-gate took it to a new level perhaps? I dunno Isnt it Body Building that has seperate titles/associations for dopers and non-dopers? But it wouldnt work for cycling. To venture a bit off topic, are there any sports in which doping could be the exeption rather than the rule?
  11. Cash and CC paid off very quickly for most things. If something big needs to be upgraded fixed and the time is right, either 13th cheque or SARS refund. At the moment I'm saving towards an XT brake set....almost there
  12. I would like to think their reasoning behind the decision not to advertise, is all about company image and ethics? If i had a company that had a product/service that could be advertised during the TdF, I would also not do it, taking recent developments and revelations into account. Its tough times out there and customers might associate the company's product with a sport fueled by stimulants. But then again ,and I HATE it when I contradict myself, it would probably be the case for most professional sports anyways. I would like to get the reasoning behind the V's company decision. wonder if they dope in chess and darts?
  13. What about the "Dopers Derby"?
  14. Forgot to add, my Spez Rockhopper is 2011 model, bought in 2012 for 6K. But I sold my old MTB and an unwanted competition prize and got the bike. Will ride this bike for many years, I'd rather spend extra cash on my wife and son than having to pay above say 20K for a bike
  15. dis nou 'n bleddie nice fiets daai, sou net bietjie dat die drivetrain beter ge-spec is. For bikes, my limit on spending would probably be 20K as well
  16. Also some L-Glutamine with whatever you have after training and an additional serving before bedtime. Helps a lot
  17. you seem like a nice bunch of people, it the S&U hasnt changed to F&F by end of November, I'll be keen to join! No harm in meeting new peeps!

All of a sudden I'm thinking that my decision to only do the K2C again next year was the wrong one. I bombed out at 58km's last year and it still haunts me to this day. This is an incredible race to do, with lots of support from the locals en route. I had such a laugh at times last year. My name is on my ROAG shirt, so constantly got chirps like "hallo Rudolph" and "hoe lykkit met 'n happie" and the most cherished one "is daai 'n papsak op djou rug?" referring to the camelbak. To all the Hubbers doing the 2012 K2C, all the best, have fun, travel safe and enjoy the Mitchell's Draught at the finish!
