  1. wearing full lycra will definitely lessen your rolling resistance as well..... Btw we met briefly at the one Spruit ride, I asked if u are Patches from the Hub
  2. do we just have to like the FB page?
  3. I also got one from a family member who was here from the USA doing Tour de Tuli last year. OK, I only got one. but to me it was the same as those waffles from the Netherlands that you get at your local friendly Spar, they call it "stroop wafels" and they come in little packets of 5 or 6. Also got one of their Honey Stinger gels...but yuo have to use a few to see if it makes anty difference
  4. S C A M............ I was stupid enough to "loose" a PC like this two years ago..never again, cash is king
  5. The first and probably the last...
  6. Only saw this now...thanks dude, will let u know
  7. What I know about these things is dangerous, but my current MTB has wider bars (640mm) than my previous one (didnt take measurements) It felt odd in the beginning, but man o man, the handling is so much better, especially in the twisty single track stuff.I didnt even replace the bar-ends, and dont miss them at all If you are comfy with what u have and bike handles well, leave it. If too wide, cut a little (5mm each side) and ride for two weeks and go on like that until comfy.
  8. Yeah it is, and when you chat to them eack weekend, its even better whenever you are up here in Gangta's Paradise, come and join us for a ride!
  9. Yeah, same this side! Riding with them at the Epic Sports group rides on Saturdays, both she and Grant are such nice people. And man oh man, that Grant is a machine on the bike
  10. Epic Sport in Jean Ave Centurion have rides that leave on Saturday mornings from 06:30 in summer, leaving now at 7:00 in winter. Thinks Cyclelab is same
  11. Leeu, cool thanks! When the time is right, the beer will be ice cold! Hehe, but I would first give it a bash myself, shouldn't be too difficult! Btw, where in Centurion are u? We're in RHK North
  12. In my first year of cycling(mtb) I did a race every month, but had a complete mindshift, Since January this year, I just ride for the joy of it, do as many outrides as possible, and a race now and then if I really want to. This worked wonders, I'm fitter than I've been last year, did some nice rides, met up with an awesome bunch of people at Epic Sports in Centurion, AND most importantly, I fell in love with mb'ing all over again. That's how I will continue to roll from now on
  13. try and continue as normal as possible. Just changing my twice weekly running sessions to earlier the afternoon and not at night after my son went to bed. IDT set up in garage, just closing the doors in winter and have a hooded jacket for the stretch from garage to house. If things change at work, I may very well bring IDT to office and work in a session before/after work Weekends maybe just start later, like in 9am-ish instead of 6:30 am AND very important, watch what I eat more closely just incase the training takes a dip. Just have to work it out, had a very good summer training and riding season and dont want to let all the good work go to waste.
  14. Yeah, at school I had the old egg, milk and vanilla essence shake once in a while, but thats about it.
  15. Strange to me as well. Well since its the brainchild of Mr Meyer, I can might just as well give it to my 3 and half year old son, who at this early age is showing a huge talent for rugby and hope to have him bulked up and ready for Super Rugby at 14! please note this was all tongue in the cheek. I would not ever consider giving my son or any kids supplements at such an early age, maybe from 17 onwards yes, but until then they dont really need it. Best of luck with your venture
  16. now to get my hands on a "nano technology expert" and put that motor inside my seatpost... Very creative!!
  17. Leeu, How much did it set you back? On my Spez Rockhopper I have 2bliss ready tyres, but the rims need to get the conversion. See you are in Centurion as well, so when I'm ready, can I come to you for lessons perhaps? Off course we can negotiate as to how many beers you may need
  18. Biomouse, Thats not too shabby. I dont need a serious light. On weekends our group rides depart at 7am and decided that from this weekend I will ride with my bike to the starting point, starting at 6:15, for that few minutes before getting lighter, this is ideal, so thanks for sharing!

    Gloves

I bought myself a pair of "crank it" full fingered gloves from Solomons a few weeks ago. For R120-00 its a bargain and very comfy as well.

  21. The stickers on the water bottles seem to last long too...... saw them at USN Mtb Cup over the weekend.... But to be honest, if I was in that league, and did the Epic, I would probably do the same thing
  22. For a "Crazy Child" that is very well said! I had more than a mouthful to say (in a good way) to those laaities who push their way past while we were all waiting in line at the bottle-necks. One responded to my "waarheen is jy so haastig oppad boetie?" With a "jammer oom ek is net haastig vandag". It was quite funny at the time
  23. I did the 60km. 1st lap there was some bottlenecks before/after bridge as was to be expected. On 2nd lap I could ride through, that was awesome. It helps being in the bottom half of the field :-). Its an awesome race, some technical bits, steep downhill sections, super cool fast flowing singletrack, and well organised. One of my favourite races for sure. As it is growing each year, there will be some growing pains, but I'm sure the race organisers will be able to figure that out!
  24. I agree with Garfield2010 on this one. It brings back the old argument of how many km's of cycling= running km's Running has a bigger impact on the body than cycling. here I'm thinking of the pounding your joints have to take. So physically I would say comrades is tougher. The Epic is more demanding from a mental perspective, even though you have to be physically very well prepared too. you have to be in top mental shape to take on each day or you wont survive. With Comrades its only one day. So its actually a tie between the two.
