  1. Seems like you guys realise how lucky you are.... Keep it up!!!
  2. A certain Lady Hubber is taking in applications for a bf at the moment, maybe DaLoCo will get sorted there? Here's the link: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/95732-to-make-like-punt-or-not-is-the-question/
  3. OK, so I did my research on this here on the Hub Cant train while on antibiotics But when can I start again and how much? Talking of RPE levels here. and how soon before I can start going all out again? Am so peeved, things just started to get going well again after the festive season, and then courtesy of my 2year old, I got tonsolitis. Been on the Meds since Friday, and will finish on tomorrow evening.
  4. Congrats, it looks super fast!
  5. Tragic news, each time a fellow cyclist dies, it feels like we loose a family member.
  6. yeah, a kinda initiation period???

    Good day!

    awesome!!
  8. My cycling partner has a corsa bakkie. He just welded a piece of square tubing together, with the "brackets" for the skewers and then made sure it fits securely to the sides. Voila, two mtb's fit comfortbly. I've seen bakkies with a Roll bar where the okes just put Holdfast skewer thinga majix on as well...really doesnt have to cost you and arm and a leg
  9. Thanks to all of you that responded. Gman, me? A-Bunch....hmmm, perhaps in my dreams yes. It will become a bit of a drag for me then. I just wanna have fun on the MTB, and not die while doing it. Vanniri, Big S and Bikemonster, you speak many wise and true words! Main goal for the year is Karoo to Coast, so training and local races will probably have to revolve around it. Will have to do more trails this year, have good range of places to choose from around PTA and Centurion. Hope to meet some Hubbers this year
  10. I have a good idea of how to structure it. (read last paragraph), so I will excuse the ignorance just wanted to check from other hubbers how they do it, NOT steal ideas or perhaps beat you in the next race.....
  11. Hi folks So last year I started with MTB. Just plodded along trainingwise without much planning, except for the LSD rides once a week. Since then I didt quite a lot of reading ( three e-books with training programs etc provided to me by Renier....thanks again buddy) and also The Mountain Bikers Training Bible by Joe Friel. As I could see you can train endurance, threshold, temp, anaerobic, leg speed and strength as well as recovery sessions thrown in between. My logic tells me that in order to be a good allround cyclist you need to work on all of the aspects as mentioned above. How would you structure you training? Endurance is very NB, so that takes place over weekends, and at the moment I can train 3 days in the week, so working on threshold, anaerobic with recovery in between. Workout duration varies between 45min and 60min, with endurance anything above 90min.
  12. m,oved post to applicable forum thanks
  13. well done CWC. Made me realise what a priveledged bunch we all are. I vow to take nothing for granted anymore....
  14. I'm sure Dangle will be able to tell you more. I had a look at them at an outdoor shop around here the other day. Prices not too bad...around R1800-00 me thinks. You have to "phase" them in over a certain period of time. you're bound to get a lt of stares wearing those in public I guess, but dont all racecar drivers love that?
  15. Thanks Guys, great advice Saw on cwc that they have a Tacx 26x1.25 for R299....maybe something worth considering (but out of stock at the moment) Maybe just get a slick for now. Luckily the IDT will stand in MY garage (wife only goes in there when leaving for work in her little car)
  16. Swiss, yeah that's what I thought as well. I saw your post ( https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/71452-idt-vs-rollers-vs-spin-bike-for-mtb/) Maybe I should go to LBS and ask? Will see if slick works...probably must make sure that its inflated properly then, otherwise the tyre will get chowed quicker?
  17. So my dear wife unsuspectingly gave her secret away...I'll be getting an IDT as Christmas prezzie. I know the ideal would probably be a wheel, cluster and tyre. Buy thats ot possible right now. I've seen there are IDT specific wheel, BUT my question is, would a normal "slick tyre" work as well? Thanks
  18. Sort of the same thing happened to me the other day...I have Alivio Shifters (gear and brakes) Depends on how old your bike shifters are, if under 1 year, could be replaced under warantee, that is if there are no scratches or signs that you tampered with them Mine came loose, Local bike shop couldnt repair, took it to shop of purchase, three days later: VOILA
  19. WOW, what an awesome morning ride it was....the place is looking awesome
  20. OK, so late yesterday afternoon my bosses informed me of a )(%*)(**&%*&$)()(*&(*%*&$)(* meeting at 8am this mornning Therefore Groenies is a no-go today. Flippit, havent ridden in almost two weeks, so damn frustrated. Therefore tomorrow morning I'll be there, come hell or high water. Can feel that the fitness levels hav dropped substantially, not that there was much to begin with Are there any of you that wanna meet just after 7am, and have the patience to ride with me for say 1:30 to 2:00 hours? Just wanna take it easy to get back into the swing of things and take the time to improve my technical skills as well Oh yes, Dirt Rider: I also struggle to get decent kms at this little Eden of ours. Start from the guard house and take as much single track as possible but seem to loose the plot somewhere on the eastern side where all those 4x4 ramps and stuff are
  21. Summer (September to April): 05:30 to 19:00 Winter (May to August): 07:00 to 18:00 You probably can if you want...there are bathrooms woth showers...probably good to pack in some shower plakkies Gonna try it out tomorrow morning
  22. *HIJACK ON* Noooo that shouldnt be green, sign of either too much iron or sugar, should be brownies, not groenies *HIJACK OFF*
  23. Hmmmm think I should put my plans over to action from tomorrow... This time of the year, work is winding down seriously...so I will drop my son of at school, shoot through to Groenies, arrive at about 07:00, have a nice ride, jump in the showers and come in to work. Cant wait, love the place!
  24. Ok so i took my MTB there for a mayor service, having the lack of skills and energy to do it myself. (on my bucket list to do my own bike services one day) ANYWAY told the guys to PHONE me when stuff needs replacement. Got a call, BB in crank needs replacement, the quoted me a price, accepted. Went in the afternoon to pick up bike. Not ready at time mentioned by guy on the phone when they called about the BB. Saw the final price. BB was quoted at DOUBLE the price...mentioned it, reaction was ok lets change it then....FIRST GRIPE: I was peeved because the tried to rip me off My Alivio left shifter greeted after having my bike 6 months. They tried their best to fix it. But also didnt take the trouble of saying, hey wait, its still under guarantee...lets arrange a new one and sort it out for you NO I had to buy a new one there and then, didnt budge. (Bike now at Solomons, for replacement of shifter) They also replaced all the gear cables and housings without calling me beforehand on the positive side, the gears that I could check were super dooper 100 sharp, the wheels must have been trued to the mili-mili-milimeter and the brakes very sharp. Have mixed feelings about my experience there, dont really know if I will take my bike back there
  25. turns out they are still under guarantee, and I had a chat with the Shimano rep as well...taking bike in to Solomons this arvie Thanks guys!
