  1. hm,, we made arrangements to sleep in Knysna the night before...so maybe get someone to drive us throught the morning of the race. I saw some used shuttles last year from Knysna, but at R350-00 bucks a pop thats a bit steep
  2. OK, So on Sunday it's 9 weeks before the race How do we go about organising a shuttle from Knysna to Uniondale on the morning of the race? I dont know who the contact persons where that did it last year. It might be early days, but it would be good if we could start getting it sorted now. Thanks guys
  3. just listen to Regard and go to an orthopeadic surgeon. I went to a general surgeon for varicose vein removal instead of going to a vascular surgeon. Scarred for life Good luck with the op and recovery anyways
  4. Thanks Tumbleweed. Some photos from the ride would also be nice. Cant access FB at work, only on Blackberry
  5. Leeu, you missed out! It was very well organised, and it was clear that a lot of planning went into it. Before the time we were treated to coffee and biscuits at a coffee shop. As Jagwil said, we were about 140 riders and went on the trails in and around Irene. Just a pity it was over so soon. The Helivac Marshals assisted at crossings and went along the whole route with us. They certainly are a necessity at rides/group rides etc It felt good to be part of something so positive, so from my side thank you once again to all the organisers of this ride, it was nice to meet one or two hubbers as well. Just realised yet again us mountbikers are a nice, friendly bunch
  6. Clown bikes are allowed, only if the riders are dressed accordingly.....
  7. Cant wait! while talking to the owner of an Engen in Wierdapark Centurion this morning, he told me he cycles as well. I asked him if he knew about the ride, he didnt, but now he does!! lets hope he and his buddies pitch up as well. Any luck with loading route on Google Maps? or even a short description will do. By the way, being ignorant at times (until now) about this issue, I didnt read Mathilda's story in detail, did last night when I couldnt sleep, and I must say, WOW WOW WOW. An eye-opener indeed. Anyways, this time tomorrow, we'll be riding!! yeeha
  8. Soooo.....any updates on the route and distance? its gonna be a good one!
  9. Well done Swartpiet and BigGuy, One day I'll make the Pilgrimage as well.
  10. Just take it in to your LBS to be trued (balanced) should sort problem out, and then make sure the tyre is seated properly on the rim
  11. Part of the FB group!! as mentioned on FB: all of us should join, it will definitely give our loved ones at home some peace of mind when we hit the trails/roads i see south bay cycles are offering muffins and biscuits on 16th
  12. Dangle, There has to be others driving this whole thing as well, A BIG THANKS to all of you. Safety is a matter that is affecting all of us. Will be at South Bay Cycles on 16th for sure!
  13. Think all mtb'ers that ride/train in that area should be there Count me in. Will get my training partner to come along as well.

    Breedt's Neck

Sun: CHECK, WIND: BIG CHECK, especially at the top, Fly: NOPE was good ride but saw that we need to up the training big time! Was nice to meet Redline accompanied by wifey, and SimHen (Henry) as well, awesome dudes and thanks for a great ride
  15. We calculated the Gautrain costs for my wife as we stay in Centurion and she works in Woodmead. Currently I pay her petrol as well: R680pm as she and other lady lift club to work. The Gautrain has bus stop outside our Estate Gate. If she uses the bus toi travel between home-station-work and the Gautrain to Sandton station 5 days a week the total cost would be R1440p/m We will have to see what the toll fees are once they're confirmed and then decide what to do.
  16. Went there yesterday to get a pair of Bib Shorts (Medac) and new gloves (Serfas Zen). Service was excellent, Leon was knowledgeable as always, and I had nice chat with the guys there. Indeed a pleasant experience (and some discount ). So if you're in the Pretoria/Centurion area, go and visit them.

    Breedt's Neck

Thanks Borriz, Sunday wll serve as a benchmarking exercise to see where we are with regards to training. Think it will be tough, but will regard the ride as an outting. Nonetheless, will give it a good go! Will keep a lookout for the sun, the wind and the fly!

  21. Dude, I know that pass well, is quite a challenge, even in a car!! Good luck, and look out for "spook draai", one hair raising bend, always misty, wonder why?? near the top
  22. My training partner and I want to attempt Breedt's Neck for the first time on Sunday as part of our preparations for the Karoo 2 Coast. At this stage I'm at the end of my first month of regaining fitness after a 2 month lay-off and my training partner is quite fit. But we are no racing snakes, and just want to see where our fitness levels are at the moment. So we dont wanna race all the way, rather give it a good go and see what happens. Anyone wishing to join, are more than welcome. We are definetely 2, maybe 4 riders at this stage. Starting 08:00 or 08:30
  23. In some cases a person is basically forced to wear them. To try and avoid a varicose vein operation I wore the normal black compression socks and started cyling (very glad about that ) and did extra exercises each day. Got some curious looks at my first few races. Anyways Had no other alternative but as to go for the operation 3 months ago (only left leg, as I didnt want to have both legs done at the same time) on the worst looking leg. Now I'm blessed with those skin coloured post-surgical ones. Wear them on both legs, as only one would look silly(ier) But I must say, even after long hard rides, I experience no swelling or sore legs. STill have to wear them until September. After that I will revert back to the black ones. Works for me
  24. Oh no..... For what it's worth, my sincere condolences to his friends and family, a very sad day indeed
  25. Seems like this weekend its me and the IDT.....
