    That Kromme Rhee stretch of road is due for an upgrade within the next couple of months... a new bridge over the railway line will be constructed to eliminate the level crossing

    Not 100% correct...there is a triparty agreement...Upto a while ago the Western Cape Government had to pay if the actual collected revenue is under the projected figures! I know of some efforts to have this amended...whether those efforts were successful, I do not know!

    Yes PGWC will be liable for any claims if something does happen...thats why they took that decision!

    From what I understand an indeminity sign will be going up at Chapman's Peak While officials where out there inspecting the route the other day, they cautioned cyclist going up there that the road was closed...gues what Mr Cyclist continued and gave them the "up yours sign"...that is very dissapointing

    Before Chappies was closed yesterday, Chappies was still a possibility! I very much doubt that anyone would be prepared to take the risk of sending 35000 people along that road now I know that a meeting is taking place this morning between the stakeholders and I think its safe to accept that we are not going over Chappies Would be interesting to see what other alternatives were thought of besides OKW
