  2. I am getting older so I prefer the 52/36 and 11-28 cassette setup on my road bike. The 28 is just here in case I hit one of those steep climbs.
  3. Jip I also heard of these incidents but this hasn't deterred me from using the road, yet. Then again I use the route over Polka a lot.
  4. That looks like the route I use with the Mtb It reconnects with the Devonvalley road via a steep tarred downhill section past the Hotel 26% gradient if I remember correctly and a bugger to climb with a standard road bike setup
  5. Thanx for the heads up, can't even remember starting this thread Can however mention that this route has become my favorite route

  18. Bought a replacement Garmin Heart Rate Monitor and strap from Nav World, Maitland on Saturday for R830...which is a very good price considering that I paid R895 for the strap alone a week earlier.

  21. Saw him ride his bike just before 5 yesterday afternoon along De Bron rd, Brackenfell followed by a youngster and a lady cyclist, suspected brand ambassador for Adrenalin bikes Greated him "Hi Willie" but he appeared to be in a rush Can be co-incidental but I see they rode from Kraaifontein Industrial area next to the N1, can that be where his bikeshop is?
  22. The fact that the race was slightly shorter may have contributed to this
