  1. Although this is a nice idea, somehow I feel that this dad would not want any credit for what he did for his kid, his already achieved what he wanted to do.
  2. This is lump in the throat stuff and what life is all about- caring for each other. Big thumbs up to this dad, I am sure his son will remember it for the rest of his life.
  3. Hey Ronelle sorry to hear about your son's accident, I know he will recover soon. I had a similar accident (hitting a VW combi at 35kph from behind nogal in a cycling lane) 9 years ago with my then Hansom 531 tubing bike and you would not believe it, but my front wheel was still true, my fork intact, the only problem was that the frame bent on the top and bottom tube near the headset. Also got off light with the injuries considering that I was not wearing a helmet, only a cutt in the neck where the shatterproof glass cut me when I got out from the combi's hatch.

  6. I was a little more fortunate- no punctures, but got taken out by some idiot turning sideways in front of me to see how his friend was doing which had just gone down in the middle of the road. At that stage I was pacing the "temp" bunch up Phisantekraal hill, fortunately not too much damage. Got back on the bike and caught the bunch 35km further into the race again- with the help of Justin and his dad Peter- thanx guys. By the way, anyone know more about the group of riders (about 4 or 5) that went down on the decent just past the 4 way stop? It looked really serious as there was blood all over and they were lying very still? It was a dreadfull sight I must say!!

  18. I quess it would then be fair to say that road cycling is not for sissy's
  19. Also nearly got taken out by a motorist last night while cycling. I have given up the "wonders & tekens" thing, because it results in absolutely nothing. A shake of the head is my only reaction these days with the now and again loud shouting to avoid a crash.
  20. Isn't he one of Bob Marleys whalers?
  21. So your saying lance is not only using (to quote fandacious) "water and super c's", now I am shocked You cant' date=' wont and never will stamp it out, so best people understand that and get their flipn heads out their asses and see the what is actually happening, accept it(Williehond plz read carefully) and realise that cancer doesn't help you pedalling efficiency or losing a nut makes you lighter or because you lived on the wrong side of the Berlin wall makes you a hard kid. 22. Hagar jou blikemmer, jy't mos gese jy't 'n "pomp" bestel en toe kry levers en 'n rear derailer, gee 1tyd se goed terug
  23. The latest from the newspapers is that the Minister has requested weekly updates from the contractors with regard to progress, so it is being closely monitored. The contractors are not doing nothing, they are collecting the tolling money for the Government and I think there is some maintenance responsibilities as well.
  24. I am not sure about the R2mil they receive monthly, but what I heard is that in terms of the contract they get paid a fixed amount, which was based on projected income which would be generated by the tolling at the time the contract was signed. The income generated by the tolling is paid over to Government. Once the new tolling booths have been constructed this contract will lapse. Yupp' date=' almost done with the 1st section, got two more 2 go! Roadworks @ Hospital Bend and Koeberg interchange will be done before world cup. I dont understand what's taking so long down in Kalk Bay. And lets not even start talking about Chappies. [/quote'] Didnt someone post on the hub that the contractors werent getting paid and that was the reason chappies wasnt getting done? I'm not sure about the contractors, but what I do know, as per an interview on 567 Cape Talk, the operators of Chappies receive R2 000 000 a month, regardless of if it is open or not. That is actually quite shocking.
  25. Hagar: its because you are special- special things happen to special people Wa koop jy jou goed- ek order sommer 'n hele boks patches, miskien stuur hulle vir my 'n nuwe bike
