Well I use 32GI because I am in the pre-diabetic catagory If I use anything with too much sugar, I get headaches after the race and feel real crap

...And had my bottle of 32GI recovery after the ride and I am ready to roll again

Carboloaded with 32GI 3 days before the race. Had a bottle an hour before the race and one bottle for during the ride. Had two packs of 32GI chews- finished one before Swellington and the other just after the N1. Felt strong all the way home. Must confess I had 2 backup GU's in my pocket just in case the stuff did not work, but hey that was not necessary.

Well the D-group was firing yesterday Was 10 bike lenghts off the pace @ the top of Hells, dropped my one domestique (C-rider) chasing my other domestique (B-rider) who was with the front runners- took me 6kilos to hook onto the back of the front runners again- caught them just before Boschendal. Before Paarl we caught a big group of C riders, at that stage about 200 riders in the pack. Cruised leka all the way to Swellington and was blown back to Stellies by the wind It was big blade stuff the entire race, took the turn back upto Hells towards the finish and we we like 10-15 B, C & D riders with 2kilos to go-with some idiot shouting "So who is going to jump". Was way to early and everyone kept calm until the last 500m. Went on the outside and ended up being beaten by 3 guys by one second for the honours in the D group. Ended up with a time of 2h37. Was my first race with 32GI in 2 years and must say the stuff rocks big time

Must agree, always a painfull experience when the south wester greets you on your way back from Smellington

Hey but the wind might be a blessing in disguse if its a north wester- blowing us home over those rollers

After a 2 year lay off, I am in D, so not too bad. Luckily I will be having some domestiques from B & C dropping back to pull me along

The "old" Ksyrium elites were bomb proof- heard of guys weighing in at 120kg's riding them. I had a set which I passed on after clocking 20000km to a buddy who has subsequently done another 10000km with them and no problem. I upgraded to the Ksyrium SL's and I must say for a 90kg+ ride I would not recommend these. I had my rims replaced earlier this year by Mavic due to cracks after clocking just over 10000km on them.

Onetime can tesify to an awesome hubride we had years ago in the rain and no-one even had rain jackets Must admit though, the stop at Mugg & Bean was a long one- needless to say they could not keep up with refilling the muggs
