  1. A little hijack but as I have mentioned on other forums my wife has a coaching company and was in the HPC squad for the 2012 Olympics so I have been very lucky to meet some ex and current Olympians as well as a few Elite Athletes who she trains now. I've also met some extremely talented Athletes who should have made it, but didn't. And the one thing I can identify between those two groups is what you have mentioned above - a win at all costs mentality - even if it means screwing over your best mate. And there's no sympathy when they do hey - business as usual on Monday after a race. Anyway, back to F1 - I've recently discovered the Beyond the Grid F1 podcasts, and for someone who was a big fan of F1 in the 80's and 90's its been brilliant hearing old F1 drivers talking about events which I clearly remember. There's a few common threads: Senna was insanely talented and ruthless, MSC was not the Angel he made out to be, Prost was also brilliant, Gerhard Berger and Jean Alesi were always causing *** and Flavio Briatore was really really scaly. If there were rules to be broken he had no issue doing so. Of the older driver episodes, I enjoyed the one with Alan Jones the best - would have loved to have had an AJ-type driver in the group of today. As for the local drivers, I have newfound respect for Sergio Perez, as well as George Russell and Lando Norris. And I'll finish with "Cash Money, Bitches!" Guess who taught his Nephew to say that!
  2. Imagine the look on his face if he had to step barefoot onto a Lego brick.....
  3. I just remember from chatting with Jade (I did mention it before) that BMW were super cautious with that bike - any deviation from the service interval and the warranty was voided. I also recall that there was a customer complaint that did the rounds where BMW downloaded info from the ECU and saw the bike had been overrevved so also didn't want to honor a warranty claim. They must have been concerned about something, so when you do have it repaired, make damn sure you stick to all the correct service intervals, otherwise you might be sitting with another R15k down the line.
  4. Will be really interesting to see how he goes this year. Lots of finger-pointing at him during his Dimension Data NTT stay but if both he and Cav have good tours with other teams, some fingers might be pointing in another direction
  5. And did anyone else notice that MainCheese is quietly sitting in 33rd place?
  6. Get hold of Gary - 0732109842 He's ex-Yamaha Technical Advisor. Has his own business now in CT - he'll give you an honest opinion. Tell him Andy from Yamaha said you must call him
  7. https://www.cycleworld.com/2008/12/12/first-ride-2009-bmw-g450x-2/ Question is - are you an experienced Mechanic ????
  8. Couple of interesting things around the G450X - the swingarm pivot is directly in line with the front sprocket shaft - the theory there was that they were trying to keep the chain tension absolutely constant by pivoting the swingarm on the same fulcrum as the front sprocket - that meant they had to have a really unique rear suspension design too. Also - the engine is full of oddities - the clutch is mounted directly onto the crankshaft so it spins super quickly and if I'm not mistaken, the engine also runs counter-rotating to the wheels - so that you had less momentum when slowing down and turning. Jade Gutzeit raced one in the Enduro class - I think he was marginally successful, but he wasn't overly complimentary. I also remember BMW were super strict with the warranty - even putting on an aftermarket pipe voided the warranty. Oh and the motor was made by Kymco - which we at Yamaha used to regularly remind the BMW boys whenever we had a chance!
  9. I love Belgian Malinois-zes. There was one that was at puppy school with our devil dog and the two of them played up a storm. I was just amazed at how smart the Malinois was - pinned our Lucy-fer down in a play fight 9 times out of 10.....we referred to it as a hair-missile
  10. Ahh - it's one of the Roadworthy ones. That was my project in 2010/11 I think. The official Yamaha roadworthy WR was a completely different bike and also too expensive so we brought in kits from Aus and made our own. I tested one for a few weeks - wasn't bad at all, but wasn't really suited as a commuter - I was doing the required service intervals every 2 months!
  11. I know right! I actually don't care much for the cycling content on the Hub, but it's been great chatting with cyclists who enjoy motorbikes. If Admin removes this, the F1 and the MotoGP topics I probably won't be visiting the hub much. The ironic thing is that these non-cycling related topics were always very civil - even the Rossi vs MM vs Lorenzo discussions never really got out of hand, and even then, just a quick picture of Mrs. Stoner or BB posting a quick time and all was forgotten. I've seen some really nasty stuff said in cycling related discussions - to a point where unless I was absolutely certain about my facts I wouldn't comment at all. And if I did then my responses were so sanitized to make sure there was no way anyone could misconstrue them that it just become tedious to reply so I opted not to. Which is a pity because as Cyclists we all have some information and experiences to add. Hopefully the existing ones will stay and only new ones will be removed?
  12. Years and years ago I read an article which mentioned that Harleys vibrate at a certain frequency, which is also the exact frequency of certain parts of a (female's) body. It was probably written tongue-in-cheek but who knows....???? What I do know is when I had my old R80/7 BMW and my then girlfriend used to ride on the back we had to ride at 110kph. Apparently the bike was most comfortable for her when we went 110. Not 100, not 120, but 110. Right where the mirrors used to vibrate the most. Can't think why it had to be at that specific speed........
  13. Jeez remember that thread! Was really interesting to follow.
  14. Is that you Elon. I mean Eldron.....
  15. During the lockdown last year I went through all my old Ride and Bicycling Mags for interesting articles which I scanned in for reference. In 2014 Bicycling had a TDF edition and published a few French-inspired recipes. I saved them and put them in my recipe file. Yesterday I tried this one - I'm no cook so I think it was more luck than anything else, but I can highly recommend it! Was really good! 20210531083851816.pdf
  16. Yea I hate that. "I've narrowed my choice down to A or B. Can anyone give me some feedback on either of those two please?" "You should get C" "C is crap - you really need D"
  17. I only saw this now but agree with Steven - that's bottomed out somewhere. Have a good look at the rim - see if it isn't damaged. It might have been on a trailer during transport, or it might have hit a pothole. Have a very close look.....
  18. Bwahhaaaaa. These are the best
  19. During the recent Race2Sun we rode through one of the more dodgy areas - there was a pile of rubble with a fire smouldering so I looked and I'm convinced I saw a burnt TT Frame lying in the rubble - to a point where I wanted to stop and look but then realized it probably wouldn't have been a smart move. I reckon a lot of the parts get stripped off because you can't ID them, and the frames just get tossed into a big bonfire.

  21. Did some running-in of both bikes this weekend. The neighbours were not amused.
