  1. I used to watch OCC and Biker Build-off back when I had DSTV and often wondered how practical they were - some of the ways they routed exhausts and changed frame geometry made me cringe. Seems like I wasn't far off my suspicions!
  2. I've been toying with the idea of getting one - planted the seed with the Coach, but she isn't biting just yet!
  3. I've been a bit lost after the ZA's so floated around a bit. Decided to get some structure and joined the 13.1mi (21km) 16 week run plan and also the Grand Fondo Cycling plan. I'm getting the feeling after the first week that the ZA's were designed for the masses and were a little tame. These two plans are pretty intense - to a point where I'm thinking I was a bit optimistic enrolling for both at the same time
  4. It's very difficult as a Coach too. Tough to try and motivate athletes to train when there isn't anything to train for. Zwift has helped a hell of a lot, but even that is becoming a bit stale now. Were even looking at doing a DC type of ride in the near future, just to give the IM athletes something to aim for.
  5. You might well be right - Emma Pallant left BMC and went to Spez and LCB left Spez. From a marketing point you would think LCB would be the better option of the two currently, so can only think that Spez might be looking at their budgets a bit more carefully
  6. That's interesting - a good rule of thumb is that if you sell a bike overseas you can only count on about 60% of what you get for it actually making its way into your bank account - so assuming 4k I would probably only get 2.4k out. But multiply that by 18 and it does make sense - because the demand in SA is very low so it's not going to sell here for R30k let alone R40k....
  7. As it stands though, I have again over-capitalized. It will never pay me back what I have spent in ZAR. But then we don't buy these things and restore them to make money!
  8. it's odd hey - I've joined a DT forum in FB which is predominately UK based and there's a huge demand for the earlier 175MX - the prices are crazy. When the guys saw my 175 they were a bit confused because I'm not sure they ever got that model in the UK so they weren't really sure what it was. When I told them they were still available new a few of the guys were very keen to bring some in. So who knows - maybe one day I put the 125LC, the 175 and the 200 in a crate and some guy in the UK who is DT mad will snap them up!
  9. Thanks - it's been a bit of a challenge. So much was worn or rusted that I didn't really have a choice not to replace - so the budget has been blown right out the window. It's scary how quickly the costs add up.
  10. So a bit if work was done in December....
  11. Was there a graph? Spreadsheets are nothing without a graph!

    Who remembers?

Yup! Me too - reverse-H box or "Ferrari Box" as my mates used to call it. Took some getting used to not hitting the reverse-synchromesh when changing to second but if you aimed for the split in the plastic vent housing you got it right every time!
  13. Make your teeth rattle like a skeleton having a wank in a biscuit tin too....

  16. I guess - we don't know what the terms would be. But a Brian Joffe-type businessman would most likely look to Williams and remind them who is supplying their engines and would they like an additional percentage off the engine supply price in return for their driver?
  17. https://www.crash.net/f1/news/950393/1/hamilton-wants-get-2021-f1-mercedes-deal-done-christmas So I'm wondering - from a business perspective do Mercedes actually need to sign him? Russell seems like he could step in quite easily, he would undoubtedly be available much cheaper than Hamilton, and the PR surrounding Mercedes giving the young protégé a seat would be huge. I know they would probably never do it, but for me, take our business - we have a R4million asset - it's been fully depreciated. It's still running well but there are signs that it's getting a bit glitchy. Now I have a choice of getting a new Asset, at half the price, and which would be able to to the same job at arguably the same production rate, and will be able to be financed over 4 years, or I re-finance the old Asset at a higher cost than a new one and hope it remains reliable. I know which way I would go I must be honest. When I was doing my Engineer-in-Training at Iscor, my Mentor always said to me of business decisions - "If you want loyalty, get a dog"
  18. Change to the soft rubber
  19. From his little Instagram video he also tried to dive into a gap that wasn't there.
  20. I haven't been following F2 so when I saw the comment here on the thread about "Marzipan" being a bit aggressive I did a bit of Google searching and see he's a real piece of work - and that's before this latest little stunt on Instagram. Haas must be in serious financial difficulty for them to even consider this guy - I hope the financial backing is worth the admin because he's going to be a handful. He looks like he could be another Santino Ferrucci - he also blew his F1 career (although he seems to be doing better in Indy)
  21. Couldn't resist a little mock-up last night after I unwrapped the powder-coating!
  22. If I was Gene Haas I would be seriously worried that if I didn't re-hire him for next year, three dragons were going to pitch up at the factory for a word.....
  23. Some DT updates... Blueprinting - when you spend the entire weekend matching up and cleaning the ports for maybe 0.5kw extra But at least now I know that everything is matching like Yamaha intended. It will probably be a little better but not expecting miracles! Oh, and some parts arrived....
  24. I wouldn't be too disappointed though - those bikes do have a reputation for being reliable, but 62000km for a single is a lot of km's. Unless it was serviced religiously, and had dealer stamps to confirm, you were probably looking at a top-end refurbish anyway which would have set you back close to R15k. You can get nice XT660's with less km's for R35k to R40k
