  1. LOL - I was skimming through the headlines, had the post about the new female Bond in my head and I misread "contrarian" for "ovarian". Thought to myself well here's someone who is in touch with his female side
  2. Or a runner with a cycling problem.... https://www.runnersworld.com/news/a28382640/mike-woods-tour-de-france/

    Who remembers?

Shhhhh - He's actually Saayman - remember always spotting it in the credits of one of the Music shows he used to present on TV

    Who remembers?

I remember this guy. From my days at UND when we partied outside Kings Park right to when I was at the 1995 RWC final and he jumped on Lomu's back :-( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0BnC04zsFWs
  6. Not F1 but Le Mans - well worth a watch - in 1956 you needed massive balls! One of the comments below the video is priceless: 1956-"somebody in the way never mind" 2019- "he rejoined the track so dangerously"

    MotoGP

vs Schwantz who would scare all of them witless!
  8. Off-leash walk in the park yesterday - they didn't run around much, but were absolutely knackered when we got back home - I read once that mental stimulation can tire dogs out just as much as a long walk - looks like it's true
  9. Ja I went and listened to his vlog a bit and I see what you mean. Still wouldn't mind seeing what he can do in a pool though. And I also wouldn't mind putting him on a year running training program either and see just how quick he could be.
  10. I took up Duathlon in 2011 at age 39 having never run more than from the one end of the street to the other. Took me 7 years of hard graft to run a 1:37 21.1km pb and a 39min 10km pb. Running is damn tough if you come from a pure cycling background. I ran that race (the 10km) and that route wasn't easy so for him to run a 1:29 at his first attempt I think is very very impressive. Kudo's to you whatever your food choice. What I will say is I hope he doesn't decide to take up Duathlon because I think he would be bloody fast. And if he can swim and decides to do a 70.3 Distance Triathlon, he's going to surprise a whole bunch of age-groupers out there.
  11. Certainly going to contact them too - mine stopped working a while back - it was way out of warranty so I was getting ready to toss it into the bin - but going to chat to Ryan now and see if it can be repaired!
  12. Would that be a sulk of Fernando's? or maybe a Retirement of Fernando's
  13. Ok then Interstellar will be next on the list....
  14. Anyone here going to 1000Bikes this weekend?
  15. That's like your mate at school telling you he thinks you shouldn't ask the girl out because she's got issues and then next thing you see he's dating her....
  16. Well now since I was relating this story to my family, my brother mentioned that he hasn't even considered buying a car for his daughter in Cape Town - instead he gave her a Credit Card for Uber only. He reckons he wins all the way - no insurance costs, no parking costs, no car maintenance, no fuel costs - and importantly, no stress of her driving drunk. Just a fixed Uber amount every month. So I'm guessing going forward, the Motor industry will take a knock - as well as the Insurance Industry. And once the future takes hold and we get Autonomous vehicles, there will no need for Insurance at all.
  17. Back in 2009 I was with Yamaha and I bought my parents a Yamaha Surround sound system. It was quite tricky to set up properly so my Dad never really connected it. I have now bought their house and in one of the cupboards I found the system all nicely packed away so spent the last few weekends getting it all connected again. My wife is away for the next 10 days, so its going to be: (on Full Dolby Stereo 5ch Surround Sound) :-) 1. Top Gun (again) 2. Days of Thunder (again) 3. Master and Commander 4. Bohemian Rhapsody and last but not least Pirate Radio (or the Boat that Rocked - depends where you look for it)
  18. Or an Impey - I know I know, but at least still a Saffa....
  19. Myself - turning 16 only meant one thing in my life - 50cc learners licence. Nothing else
  20. Most of them arrived by Uber..... I wonder how many of today's 17yo's will even go for a car licence?
  21. So some time ago I read an article on how Harley Davidson is concerned that Millennial's are not buying motorbikes which will have a big effect on their business model going forward. Noticed something really interesting this weekend - my Wife has two Junior Triathletes staying at our place before they all leave for Europe this week and she organised a braai for them and a few of the other Athletes on Sunday as a bit of a Team building exercise. We've just moved into the house, so the garage is filled with my bikes, as well as my Dad's collection while we sort everything out. I was mentally preparing myself for a bombardment of questions about the bikes from the guys, and a few ooh's and ahh's from the girls. Not a peep - it's like they didn't even notice them. When I turned 16 I was at the Licensing department with all my mates getting my learners, and as soon as i got my licence, the girls regularly got picked up and taken for lifts everywhere. Apparently not today's 16 year old's. Motorbikes and Scooters aren't even on their radar. The only positive comment I got was from the one guy you saw the Scrambler I built and said it looked like a bike Captain America might ride. I mentioned to my Wife later that I should henceforth be known as the Captain - After which she said "Aye Aye Captain!", and sung the Spongebob squarepants theme......
  22. Anyone been following this story? The more I read about Rich Energy the more something sounds a bit dodgy! https://jalopnik.com/haas-f1-sponsor-rich-energy-denied-appeal-after-losing-1835947104
  23. Well there goes my Hail Mary - I really thought they would include him. I'll still go out on a limb and say I reckon TDD (TNTT - cool name btw) are good for a stage win or two....
  24. For those who might be interested - there's a new Stryd coming out - now takes wind into account. I don't think I'm going to rush out and buy the new one yet - I'm perfectly happy with the old type, but I did often wonder what effect the wind had on running efficiency and power. https://www.dcrainmaker.com/2019/06/testing-in-the-wind-tunnel-with-stryds-new-running-power-meter.html
