  1. Ha-Ha - funny you mention that - I went for a whole bunch of blood tests at the beginning of the year, because it's the responsible thing over 45 blah blah blah..... And one of the things they tested was my Testosterone level. Not pretty
  2. Which I think is why as much as I hope I am proven wrong, Rossi at 40, is not going to be able to compete with someone who is 23 and fearless.....
  3. My Nephew rides MX in Cape Town and he is graduating from a KX85 to a YZ125. I found him an ex-team bike here in Pretoria and I collected it last night. Couldn't resist taking it for a little blast up the road. And scared myself shitless. I don't know what happened between when I was a kid blasting my KDX200 flat out down a dirt road in the dark in 1988 and going up a tar road last night, but I got into third, turned it around and putted back to the garage and parked it. That thing is fearsome.
  4. My wife has a Jazz. That 700 engine must be sooooooooooooooooooo exciting
  5. ha-ha - I do that too. It's a bit of a dick-move but then they shouldn't be on their phones!
  6. Anyone else having issues with their Gym visits not reflecting on Vitality?
  7. Another one of Yamaha's oddballs which never really took off, but now are quite sought after. They took a whole bunch of parts out the parts bin, made a frame and stuck in the engine from the DT/WR200. Never officially came to SA, but there are a few knocking around as grey imports. And if you think the R1 was the first Yamaha R1 you would be mistaken. Google R1-Z for another oddball classic
  8. You have an SDR200...... Ooooooh
  9. So does anyone have any motorcycling mates in Queenstown who would be willing to go and check out a bike for me......
  10. From the horses mouth :-) http://www.billysbikes.co.za/new-rides/30-yamaha-tmax.html
  11. The thing is, it really is a pretty decent motorbike. Unfortunately, it's labelled as a Scooter and gets a pretty bad rap. The TMAX I rode when I commuted was the only motorbike I have ridden where I felt that if for whatever reason I could not own a car, this would be a genuine alternative.
  12. A TMAX is really just an automatic motorbike with a scooter body. I might have my groups wrong, but if I recall Bill Hunter comfortably led the C group times at a trackday once. And that was the old 500 TMAX. That bike handled and stopped as well as any roadbike. The new one has a proper aluminium frame and bigger wheels so it's even better. And from a safety point of view there were two things I felt really comfortable with - with the storage space under the seat, I didn't have to carry a bag on my back which I always felt covered my Hi-Vis vest making it a bit less effective. And with no tank and frame between my legs I also felt that if I was ever hit from the side by a car, my legs wouldn't get too badly injured. BWhiz is a little less so....tiny wheels, front brake hardly any better than a decent MTB brake, and acceleration which can quickly get you into trouble means you need to keep your wits about you. I get a bit nervous when my Wife takes the BWhiz.....
  13. I decided to do my dealer visits on an R1 back in the day. Used to go from home in Pretoria to World of Yamaha to Centurion Yamaha to Linex to Wilrogate and around to JHB Yamaha and then back home to Pretoria. Lasted about 2 weeks and I gave it back and grabbed the TMAX scooter. It was a pain in the arse (literally, because the underseat pipes actually burn your arse) to commute on the R1. Can't think that any superbike is pleasant to commute on.

https://www.crash.net/motogp/results/913625/1/jerez-moto3-test-times-thursday-final Well a positive is that he's 3-odd seconds faster than his team-mate, and also quicker than the great Turkish hope that Red Bull dumped him for. So who knows - maybe this year he's got his head sorted!
  15. Jaaaaa - I watched Ed China on Wheeler Dealers "simply" replace the windscreen on an MGB. Not a chance in hell

    Who remembers?

Was all fun and games until the pole came loose in the ground. Then it became see who can hit the pole out of the ground....
  17. Ok - I've suddenly realized there is more to Youtube than just music. A bit like someone who thinks they know Excel because they successfully added two columns together....

    Who remembers?

The plan was to hit your brother with the ball. So aim at his head. The whole time

I see DB is at the bottom of the Moto3 sheets again. I really hope he comes good this year because I suspect if he doesn't, he might struggle to make the 2020 grid..... Can't help but wonder if he isn't just a bit too tall for a Moto3 bike.
  20. I think those two ears on the wing of the Ferrari make it look like a haas
  21. Yamaha has a similar bike called a YBR125. When the Japanese were out here for their dealer visits one of them was telling me that the head designer of the engine smoked. He laid down the challenge to the minions that the engine must be so smooth that if he were to balance one of his cigarettes on end, on the tank and rev the bike to 5000rpm it shouldn't fall over. I called bull**** and bet him a beer that it wasn't possible. I lost. Badly. I think it only fell at 8000rpm odd. Then I got the whole discussion about why engine vibration causes rider fatigue and since the YBR was a commuter bike you didn't want to arrive at work tired blah blah blah.....

Reminds me of the time we supplied an R1 SP to FHM for a model shoot. When the bike returned there was a whole bunch of glitter on the seat and the front of the tank. The comments from the all male Motorcycle division at the time were very descriptive.

https://www.visordown.com/features/top-10s/top-ten-coolest-motogp-liveries From the Guys at Visordown. My favorite was the Camel Honda and Camel Yamaha - we did a BWhiz Camel Replica when I was at Yamaha and it was really nicely done!
  24. Redbubi....
  25. So how hectic is this - I'm buying some stuff at a deceased Estate auction and I noticed the guy I am dealing with (the Gent who died's son) had a #bringnikkimulderhome on his email signature. So I spoke to him a bit last night - granted I only have his side of the story, but he says his partner (they weren't married) abducted their son and went back to Bulgaria. He's been fighting for two years to have his son returned - he reckons he has spent 2 Million in court so far, and the next stop is the European Court of Human rights. https://www.facebook.com/Bring-Nikki-Mulder-home-942484232582926 He says his partner was a bit eccentric, but never showed any of this behavior when they were together. Hell hath no fury they say.
