  1. Best treatment is Granuflex dressing (it looks like a big plaster). Clean the wound, and stick over the whole area before scabs form. Moisture from the wound then activates the anti bacterial glue. Granuflex stays on for 2 weeks, letting the skin grow back underneath without ever forming a scab. I have donated a lot of skin to the road surfaces in Gauteng since the 90s, this treatment worked best imo.
  2. I find it strange that the main claimed advantage of 29ers, the roll over angle, translates into an advantage in marathons. Of all types of riding, this is where roll over would have the least influence. For me it would be more logical to assume the advantage of 29er wheels for marathons is due to more inertia, creating more of a flywheel effect. 650b would decrease this advantage (and so would super light, carbon 29 rims, too). In 2005, a relatively low profile rider riding for a pro continental team, Ondrej Sosenca, broke the UCI hour record. What was interesting is that he used a very heavy disk wheel, with a weight of almost 3kgs, if I remember correctly. This is another example where more wheel inertia resulted in a faster time.
  3. It is still 25% lighter than a Dogma, and made in Italy, while the Dogma is made in China. Imo their association with Ferrari is very appropriate. Those down and seat tubes of the C60 looks massive. I love the stylish paintwork on some.
  4. I think we will drop down from #1. It was built by Kirsten, with Smith and Kallis as part of the foundation. Also with a super pace attack. If Steyn is out and Morkel and Philander is off form, the team looks very ordinary. Imo, we shoule look in the next generation, for a team that can dominate again. How about experimenting with the young guns a bit - QdK, Stiaan van Zyl, Rilee Russouw etc as batsmen, and Hendricks, Hardus Viljoen, Chris Morris as bowlers? It is sad that after many years, we still do not have a spinner that can hold a spot in the squad. We play tests in Sri Lanka next - I suspect we wil see Peterson or/and Tahir in the team again - neither of those is a long term solution. I think Morkel and Petersen has to go. Lets rather build something new.
  5. Positives from this series: Vern improving as batsmen, he claimed the allrounder spot AB batting like a master Elgar opening well against the top bowling side in the world. Abbot bowling well Negatives Team only waking up after we were 1 0 down Fragile top order Alviro not doing much with the bat. Amla, Faf and Duminy getting back a bit of form (mostly too late though, they will probably get lots of runs in the next series) Bowling attack looking harmless without Steyn, in test 1 he was off his best, and in test 3 he got hurt. Vern not getting wickets Morkel being mostly useless, except for a few good spells. Poor fielding at times
  6. Close one. Best team probably won the match and series? SA looks to be on the decline, a bit. Our top order is now unsettled, and our bowling was very bad this game. I hope Abbot gets another opportunity, he bowled better than Morkel and Philander.
  7. I think the pitch had a lot to do with "taking the game away from SA". Almost all the Aus batting partnerships were 50+ even with their out of form players batting. Imo it is very poor preperation to prepare a pitch where the toss has a massive impact on the result. Perhaps it will turn - but that why would they prepare a dry turner if we do not have a front line spinner, then? If it starts to break up and have variable bounce, it will be a disaster. At least it is the home ground of a lot of players, they will be able to read conditions - what roller to use, when to defend and attack. Their bowlers will be tired, and if we make them work for a day, there may come a time later today or tomorrow to push on the scoring rate, if we can get close or ahead a bit, perhaps day 5 can get entertaining.
  8. Lets wait till both sides have batted. There is a lot of scoreboard pressure on us now, but our batting list looks solid. We need two days of good batting - it would be awesome if AB and # each get big 100s, get us ahead by 100 or 150, and we can let Dale have a go at them on day 5
  9. I had the road brakes, they were very nice for a ligt set of calipers, no issues. I have a set of bar ends on the mtb, and I am amazed at how well they have held up over the last 3 years. They took a couple of big hits.
  10. I walked into the Lab 3 weeks ago and asked for a bottle of Stans. He walked to a rack of bottles and cages, and asked me if I liked any of the "waterbottle stands" on the rack. Eddy may have a point here.
  11. A comment that caught my eye on crickinfo went something like " In the mighty jungle of South Africa, the lion sleeps, but next to the ocean, he stares" Probably posted by one of the Aussie batsmen, because he could not get the staring eyes out of his mind :-)
  12. I dont think Clarke had to give permission. Smith requested it from the umps, they have sole discretion to give the extra 30min, if they think the game could end in that 30 min. They made a good call.
  13. Smith still has 2-3 years left in his career. How did Clarke do in his last 11 innings? I dont see the Aussie media and supporters gunning for his head. We fixed the opening pair, with somebody who can also bowl a bit, Amla is back, Faf is looking better, AB is AB, JPD found some form, QdK started to look a bit more settled. Now that looks like a world class top order should! Imo another all-rounder is not needed, we have plenty of batting already. We need a specialist bowler. Abbott took 12 in the match over the weekend btw selectors.
  14. I would rather see Elgar replace Petersen first. Smith has had a weakness against full bowling on his legs by left armers for a long time, especially at the start of his innings. It is Smith's achilles heel, and MJ with a new bal must be a nightmare for him. I hope he can find a counter in time. Who will replace Parnell? I vote for Abbot, or another specialist bowler. JPD and Philander are the all-rounders, not need for McLaren imo.
  15. AWESOME! Super bowling by Steyn and co. The drama of the light, the bad umpiring, the reviews not taken, the almost out catch by AB, the almost in run out by Petersen. Ironic that Lyon got an edge on that lbw, jungle justice for the nick by Rodgers for which he did not walk, hehe. Ausies' cages have been properly rattled.
  16. IDT is no problem at all for the frame - lots and lots of people in America, Canada and Europe use them through their long winter. Manufacturers would have voided warranties if trainers damaged frames. I think a trainer puts less stress on a frame than the road - much lower vibration, no pot holes etc.
  17. But they run the risk of losing with an early decleration, if the pitch is flat, and the rain only shows up Monday evening.
  18. # and ABD batting together = magic!
  19. I hope the weather holds for us to get a win. Bowling them out a second time will be more work without Parnell. But the boot is on another foot in this match, Im loving it.
  20. I think you are only allowed to switch keepers once per innings.
  21. Great bowling by SA. I love the aggression from Morkel, where was that last week? Too bad AB dropped Warner. I also wonder why Smith did not review that edge from Lyon -perhaps concerned about wasting a review on a tail-ender? Im glad we did not roll over and play dead like England did when Aus put them under pressure. We can hit them hard tomorrow, we need to get Warner, Haden and Smith. If we bat again, I hope some of our batsmen who threw their wickets away can focus a bit more.
  22. We were that devestating team until recently, when we went to other countries and thrashed them in their back yard. I give Gary Kirsten a lot of credit for that. We played this same Aussie team before, lots of times. Butnsee what a difference a coach can make, Lehman vs. Arthur. That is why I think Domingo is a plonker, together with his average results so far, despite inheriting a great team. Philander is the worlds best bowler, according to stats. Dale is #2. I disagree about playing De Kock. Play him against India or WI or Zim, so he can find his way into test cricket. To play him against a rampant attack can set his career back a couple of years.
  23. I would like to see Abbot in for Peterson, Miller in for McLaren.
  24. But that is a heart rate monitor that extrapolates power from HR. Imo if you already have a HRM, getting a powercal is pointless. Secondly, if power and HR is thus related, why bother with a power meter at all?
  25. I dont blame Smith for choosing to bat first - he could not guess that the pitch would have variable bounce from day 3. I balme Domingo for going in with an underprepared team, and the selectors for selecting players who were not up to scratch - Petersen is a sub standard opener, and the team can not stay the best in the world with so bany bits and pieces all rounders - Duminy, McLaren and Peterson in one team was a big mistake. Imo they should pick one all-rounder from the 3, and go with a specialist batsmen and a specialist bowler instead of the other two.
