  1. Behind Hermanus High school you will find a BMX track...we used to race Dual-slalom there many many moons ago. Kobus should be able to help out. Closest Gravity style riding to you is Somerset west (https://www.thehangerbikeco.co.za/ if his that talented, speak to these guys, co-owned by Andrew Neethling)
  2. Is that what she said?...need to get your brother to up the cadence then 😂
  3. There's plenty of kilometres to cover on a battery. (Thousands) The only thing worth keeping an eye on is the drivetrain, specifically the chain and cassette. Occasionally, you might run into some motor issues, but personally, I've owned four second-hand e-bikes without any problems. Plus, there are more workshops available now that can handle motor repairs if needed. The only hiccups I've encountered, fingers crossed, involve cable and wire connections. They tend to get dirty, but a good cleaning usually does the trick to get everything back in smooth working order. The 50k to 70k ebike market got some super deals.
  4. Is it just me, or has the news about the bike market's downturn not quite reached South Africans? On the bright side, for us consumers, it's a buyer's market for new bikes and more. While I doubt we'll see any "specials" or price drops at our local shops or online stores anytime soon, the asking prices for second-hand bikes on the hub are nothing short of a joke. Sure, you can set your asking price high and hope for the best. Perhaps some well-intentioned individual will transfer the money, allowing Frikkie to bask in the coolness of an overpriced second-hand bike for just one season... Regrettably, we must face the reality that the depreciation of bicycles, especially e-bikes, is something we have to come to terms with.
  5. Hi as Robbie says below, but when you exit NS and then cross the River look out for Bosluis climb, that will take you to firehut/Quarry... Should be able to find it on Trailforks. I wil almost suggest starting with Firehut and then go up Irish etc...due to summer heat Firehut gets plenty sun from 5am 🔥
  6. I have the Thule front mounted seat and my son loves it, start crying when I stop (13months old)... But, the stack on my bike is just to short and I need to angle the adapter to maximum to allow clearance below to my frame. Additionally I use my ebike and the display is also in the way. To get a good grip at that angle the spacer all get bent from the force. Not the ideal setup. So when you buy the Thule Front seat, be sure you have an uncut steerer...
  7. I like the Pyga Pascoe inspired design he brought over to Titan. Looking forward to see the completed version.
  8. I know very little of road-racing, so asking your opinion. If I look at the amount of crashes happening and how/where, it seems that a field of 100+riders is a bit excessive...? ( referring to yesterdays bunch crashes). Or is that just bad luck---and idiot spectators
  9. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c6JmxP7138 But then again, they never give a full conclusion...outcome is always that both bikes are great.
  10. I have my name up for a Levo SL, whats your experience/thoughts on it so-far? Had the Orbea Rise H30, and the extra batt helped, but struggled to keep up with the full power bikes obviously...and at the end of the day on the DH the advantage was not that much more (then again its down to rider skill level and fitness). Hoping to get mine on the next shipment end of June.
  11. Whats that blue thingy for? Nice collection of bikes I assume the wife and kids stay in the garage...hehe
  12. Great to see Trail daze are back! @Headshot Please explain the meaning of \"E-bike specific\"? or do you mean skill level specific? n Fiets is mos n fiets en n trail n trail...The rider makes the difference. My skill level allows me to go-big at Banhoek, where the next guy loves the Super-tube flow of the trail? Be that on E-bike, Analog or Drie-wiel.

    The Dad thread

Any advice on trailers for kids...Got the first one on its way in Sept...so pre planning/hoping for some riding. Got an e-bike and lucky to live next to my local trail. Obviously when the little Moth is older I would like to take him/her/they/them 🙃 on some fire road. (Wont tell the mother) These Thule XT trailers look good, but zero suspension. I assume it will be more of an ride on tar, far away from cars. Any thoughts? @JJ how was the first week....
  19. Slapped one on my ebike and I must say the thumb size feels great (if thats a thing ) and operates smoother than the Fox I had on. Installation was dead easy with the screw-in bolt at the button. Looks great. They could have made the thumb bit with groves to add grip , if I had to be really picky.
  20. Using Grinder to get a "Trek" is rather popular in Cape Town...????
  21. 1994 Raleigh Bomber...it ruled for many years. MTB-developing, school commute, newspaper delivery and Gravel-bike with the handlebar pointing up Used to race down Paarl DH track with one of these...broke the steering tube twice...fell my self moertoe twice... Maybe not exactly for the topic but it deserves some credit.
