    Hobbies

Cycling was my hobby and would like to get into photography. My current hobbies include : speed nappy changing, speed formula mixing, extreme insomnia survival techniques, entertainment centre for two 8 month old boys. Holding thumbs that I can make cycling part of the list again - soon.
  3. Replaced my rear deraileur recently and decided to attempt to adjust it myself. Read up on how to do it on the net but, still have one headache. All works fine except for the highest gear. The chain does not want to drop down to it - even with the cable completely loosened. Any ideas?
  4. Recorded the whole thing from 5:15 am till 9:30am. File size is 18G on the hard drive. Not sure how much I will have to drop the quality to fit it on a DVD. If anyone is interested i'll see if i can squeeze it onto a disk.
  5. My very biast opinion: Bought the Giant TCR Advanced ISP a couple of months ago and all I can say is . Have been enjoying every minute of it. The 2006 models are going for very reasonable prices compared to similar quality frames. If you can get one, don't let it slip through your fingers. The new models (2007) are out and you won't get them at the 2006 prices.
  6. Have been to that shop once. Needed to urgently have wheels trued. The guy charged me R50 a wheel. Very steep compared to the R30 I paid with the previous owner. This guy is only there to make money. Won't see me again.
  7. Plan for this weekend (weather\wife permitting): Sa: Hendrik P - K Hill - Robert Broom - Magalies - Bekker Skool - Hekpoort - Protea Rif - K Hill - Hendrik P = 125km So: Hill repeats on K Hill
  8. Put in leave for the whole December - 5 Dec to 5 Jan. Will be changing the twins nappies most of the time. Cycling, Christmas, New Year has been cancelled till further notice. Weird this is that i can't wait for it . Definately a holiday to remember.
  9. I have an old set of Rolf Comp wheels lying in my garage. The rear rim snapped in an accident and I could not get it fixed - no parts available anymore. PM me if you are interested.
  10. My wife is 4 months pregnant - with twins smileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley4.gifsmileys/smiley2.gifsmileys/smiley5.gif. She is very adament that the tandem will be used in future again. Unfortunately this is a long term plan and currently it is gathering dust. What would be a good way of storing it ?
  11. I went through the same excersize in Dec 2004. My choice came down to the Giant TCR and the Raleigh RC7000. The two bikes had 95% the same spec but , the Raleigh came in at R2k less. Real value for money. I have been riding the bike for just over a year now and I have put it through a lot (about 9000km). Up to now, not one problem. Despite many peoples opinion on the Raleigh name this is a solid bike.
  12. It all depends on import duties - if there is any, it might work out the same to buy locally.
  13. Hi, I'm looking at importing some bike tools (Park Tools) and a workstand from www.chainreactioncycles.com. Does anyone know if I would pay import duties on this? If so how much?
  14. My short list is as follows (in no specific order):smileys/smiley17.gif Giant TCR Advanced Cervelo R3 - any one know who I can phone for a quote? Specialized S-Works Tarmac Any comments on my list? My heart still bleeds for a Colnago Christallo but , at R27k (local) and R23k(abroad), my head will bleed if my wife saw the pricesmileys/smiley18.gif.
