  1. Here she is... running a brain fork off s Spez but will probably go back to the carbon rigid. Someone said steel is real, sure rides lekker!
  2. What bike is that? It sure is pretty!!
  3. Eish... someone just cost a lot of people on the hub a lot of money... I'm not even halfway through the list and there is already a bucket full of bikes on there that I want!
  4. Hi, I'm on the IC400 not the PowerBeam. Set up my gearing a while back to be the same as my 1x11... tried to stay with you guys in the first minutes yesterday but had nearly zero resistance... Will try and sort it out before the next one! Any advice on how to set the gearing. Thought I still had the PC software but unfortunately not.
  5. Just realised my IDT is still setup like my MTB - so running a 32 in front with 11spd in the back. Can I change the virtual gearing from the iPad or only by logging on to the site via PC? Let the fun begin!
  6. Thanks - got both so will use the iPad for tonight then. Found the race already setup - if I click the detail button then nothing happens? Should it start downloading (would like to download from the office if possible as my signal at home is non-existing) See you guys tonight (I'll be the guy in the back picking up the gel packets and thanking the spectators!)
  7. I'm in! Now just to get home early enough to get into some lycraand get the fan lined up... iPad or Desktop version - which is the most stable?
  8. Good question... I entered a couple of times. Would love to know who won it!
  9. I got the exact same reply! Skelms!
  10. Found this online. Really looks too good to be true... 2014 Bronson, decent groupset, dropper post etc. R19,000?? Eish... http://johannesburg.olx.co.za/2014-santa-cruz-bronson-carbon-size-large-in-tennis-yellow-iid-654250900
  11. Awesome ride!!
  12. I'm on a Tallboy, ran a 34 for the first half of Joberg2C this year then switched to 32. Downhill is free km's - so if you spin out, so be it! 32 does the job on the steep stuff For the last years Cape Pioneer I used a 32 and on some of those climbs I wished I had a 30 but managed fine on the 32. My 2c's - 32 is the way to go!
  13. Are the route profiles available yet? What is the ascent on the 75km? Thx Deon --- Rule5 ---
  14. Camper all the way. Just did our first Joberg2C and it worked like a charm. Nice and warm compared to the tents and all the advantages that you mention above (space, space, space). My only advice would be to go and look at the camper that you booked a couple of days in advance if all possible. We rented from KEA and their campers are in really good condition compared to MAUI and any of the others that we have used previously - just ended up getting one that had some Diesel in the water tanks... they brought us a new Camper at Reitz though! (The replacement was a MAUI unit and was well past its sell by date - but still worth it!) You can arrange with the massage/physio's to drive your camper, a couple of teams did this, or just take the family and make them part of the journey - mine enjoyed it thoroughly! See you there next year!
  15. You need to do it at least once to find out if it is your cup of tea!
  16. Can't comment on Joberg2C yet - give me a month and we'll chat again However, I completed Epic in 2013 and I'm glad I did it. Will I spend that sort of money again - no. I did my third Cape Pioneer in 2013 (yes, it was a busy year!) and I'll be back for the next 10 years. Some days are just as tough as Epic, the race is just as well organised and you get certain sense that it is about the riders - they really pull out all the stops to make sure that you're looked after. I also prefer the idea of a journey and being in a different dorpie every night!
  17. Not the best pic... but rides like a dream!
  18. Hi, A friend is looking for a dual suss bike mainly for Marathon type riding. (i.e. Sani, Berg & Bush etc.) He falls into the BIG GUY category: 6ft 5inches tall ±119kg Hands like a skottelbraai... get the idea? Questions are: Carbon vs Ally frame - Advantages etc.? 2 x 10 vs 1 x 11 (likes simplicity) Bike suggestions At this stage the SantaCruz Tallboy © XXL is at the top of the list of bikes, anything else he should be looking at? Any advice or own experiences will be appreciated.
  19. Ryan, Loads of routes in the East. We do 110km's without too much tar on weekends! Have a look on Strava - you're also welcome to follow me on Strava to download some of our routes (pm me). Regards, Deon
  20. How about speaking to your LBS or any of the local bike shops? You may just find a young mechanic that would love to experience the race and then you have someone to give the bikes a once-over in the evening. I've been fortunate that my wife enjoys going to the races so she drives the motorhome, cooks and makes sure the beer is cold. I've even trained her to do some basic bike stuff like replacing brake pads, cleaning chains and topping up sealant... and who said SWAMBO could not be trained (SWAMBO - She Who Always Must Be Obeyed!) Enjoy the Epic!
  21. Hmmmm... honestly, I'd speak to the guys at Torq-Zone cycles to give you a price on a custom built Santa Cruz Tallboy C2 - you can get a pretty decent spec with R60k! (Speak to Dirk)
  22. Thanks for the feedback guys! Will definitely look at the options in the area.
  23. Anyone have any nice trails or routes in the area that you can recommend? I'm looking for fellow hubbers or any other riders in the Port Shepstone or Southport areas for MTB training rides from the 27th until the 5th. Would like to do a couple of early morning rides. Thx!
  24. Super nice build! Look at getting a Wolftooth or Raceface Narrow-Wide chainring up front - that should keep the chain in place! (get from www.evobikes.co.za)
