  1. Good work patches, advice not to be overlooked.
  2. Not quite sur why one would buy a bar that saves 100g and then fit two plugs that put it straight back on again...i don't run with bar ends so don't think i'll need the plugs. Also the Easton EA70 monkey lite SL seems to be able to be trimmed. It comes at 685mm and i want it 660mm so will be taking off 12.5mm each side, can't see that making a huge difference to the clmap zones.
  3. Thanks for the advice, I shall go and get the correct stuff. Incidentally did you use some kind of tape to protect the carbon under the brake/shifter clamp?
  4. Buying a new set of handlebars but they ned to be cut down a little. Any advice about the cutting process? Any special saws, clamps or wetting agents to stop the carbon splintering?
  5. I would agree from a classical point of view, but in my opinion if a hundred people are involved in the task of R&D, design and building it shouldn't detract from the beauty of the final piece. After all, who gets the credit for an amazing building the builders or the architect?
  6. Why not? can beautiful things not be mass-produced?
  7. This is art...
  8. Love it... don't the high end scott scales and the santa cruzes do the same with the cabling?
  9. Looking at upgrading my rise bar, I had a flat and didn't like it much, I like the 660mm width so the two best options in my opinion are the FSA K-Force riser, which has a 20mm rise or the Truvative noir world cup which gets awsome reviews and sits at 640mm width and 15mm rise....both have the same sweep and rise angles. Would you really feel the difference between them?
  10. What size rotors are you running?
  11. I'll try the rotor upgrade to the XT first and then see how that helps. The replacement pads I have are XTR BR-M965 Metal ones...it doesn't say sintered on them but its the only metal option, the others are resin. Is this correct? I've heard you can also get composite rotors that cool down quicker, made of ceramic something or other...anyone got any experience of these? Are they worth the extra mola?
  12. is it easy to get pads and things for them?
  13. Hi, Looking for some advice on a brake upgrade. I'm running SLX at the moment, which do the job but haven't amazed me with their performance also they don't do to well in wet conditions. Which brakes do you oaks recommend for XC riding. I'm looking for middle to upper range, with a bit of a weight saving. There are loads out there and i've been looking at Juicy 5's or 7's, or perhaps the Hope - something or other. Ideas????
  14. There will always be a test that can break anything. look at Top Gear for example. They often break a number of examples of some of the most expensive high performance vehicles on the planet when they do a test drives, it wouldn't necessarily be because of the extreme nature of the driving or a particularly bad product... The only thing that's clear is that lots of tests are needed to get an average performance.
  15. There are 259 users online right now...why don't we put together some sort of petition to see the CSA take action on this, or at least provide some sort of rational justification for the chaos...if this were football or rugby heads would role.
  16. http://www.ewn.co.za...g.aspx?id=59881 Is this it for coverage? No pics either
  17. Just got into work and have no TV access, where's the best place to catch up on the disaster that was today?
  18. Not many reviews out there on this wheelset but its the high-end XC offering from Sun-ringle. Almost no info on the premium straight pull hubs either... Goes for a great price on CRC and is pretty light too...hoping someone here has some experience of these wheels or the general sun-ringle quality. 19. Yep need to have an idea of your budget before everyone can throw in the two cents. i'd go for a 26HT though...perhaps a scale, zaskar or lightweight alu meteore.
  20. Does anyone know who distributed Exustar pedals in SA. I've seen them in a few stores but no-one seems to know how to service them or get spares...Visited the website but they're based in europe. Anyone know where to get spares in SA? or who to contact?
  21. How much do hope brakes go for anyways?
  22. Second hand scott scale Sid Race AC wheelset X9 with Noir Crank no seat post or saddle, clamp or rear brake and just stand the whole time and use the front brake
  23. Nice looking bike Thumper, love those old chrome Gt's
  24. Great story....seriously ugly bike this one....so funny.
  25. Is it the light or has that thing got gold spokes? now that would be cool.
