  1. Thanks mate will do.
  2. I know that these toys are our babies but I'm thinking of buying the anthem advance 29er and not really prepared to drop the cash with only a bike shop car park ride. So, would anyone lend me their ride for a spruit section say from the gardens to delta and back? I'd be happy to discuss forms of insurance and have no intention of racing around. Just a gentle play to get a feel on a trail I know. As for size, I'm looking at a small or medium and can just swap seat posts from my anthem x 26er.
  3. When and where is the next 'ride before you buy' event? I'm banking on this to provide the comparative opportunity.
  4. If I'm going to break a bike then I'd rather it cost 8-10k than 15-20k.
  5. Seen that vid, its pretty awesome how strong they are. Needless to say, I still feel like I have to be gentle with falling in rocky areas or just dropping it, standing on it or other such unpredictable acts.
  6. Reckon I'm leaning towards the niner air9. http://www.bicycleplayground.com/product/niner-air-9-frame-2331.htm?variations=10451,10455
  7. R6000 is pretty reasonable for a top quality frame. I'd be happy to base a build on that
  8. Which is the cannondale hardtail frame? Is there anywhere in joburg I can have a look at them?
  9. How much does the giant set you back?
  10. What are the scotts called?
  11. I had a look at the niner E.M.D. what is it like to ride?
  12. I'm curious what people think are the best of the best non carbon 29er frames to give me somewhere to start looking.
  13. Never ridden steel, was thinking about titanium too. Anyone got any experience of tje Gary Fisher x-calibur?
  14. Yeah, running on an alu anthem, its a great frame. Feels like it can take a beating
  15. Which niner? I was considering cannondale.
  16. I've had a carbon frame and found I was always a little worried about it getting dings and knocks. So for my own peace of mind, for mountain bikes I prefer alu.
  17. Any ideas for the best alu hardtail 29er frame for a new year build?
  18. Where can you see what Tool Up Cycles have as stock and prices? I only see the links to the manufacturer pages.
  19. Yeah, figured as much. Both get good reviews. Wandered if anyone had any specific experiences with them.
  20. Got an inkling for a new stem and my options are between: Buying from the Us and having it brought over with a friend. Race Face Atlas - 90 dollars, 50mm, 150g, colour choice Easton Haven - 90 dollars, 55mm, 145g Was also considering the spank spike - looks cool but are a little heavy. Anyone try these and have an opinion?
  21. American Classics. Had two sets - Race and the All Mountain and they are great. Easy to maintain, light, and spin forever.
  22. I'm new to road cycling having spent the last decade on mountain bikes and avoiding tar like the plague. But I figured I'd give it a shot and see how I like it. Since I have no real idea of where is safe or dangerous for roadies are there any areas I should avoid or roads I definitely have to ride? Thanks
  23. i thought about the classifieds here but i' really like to have something with a warranty.
  24. Not quite, i'm in San Francisco so its a more reasonable hour here...
