  1. Howsit all, Looking for a wheelset of hope hubs on Stans Arch Ex in a 26inch. Any recommendations for the best place to find, build these? and a competative price for them? Thanks
  2. OK, not many responses. CWC doesn't know where to get these things loose either. Try this one...does anyone know if any other hub can be laced onto the rims and spokes of the crosstrail?
  3. Anyone know where I can get a replacement for mine? or the Mavic dealer in JHB?
  4. Not sure if this has been put up but there are some nice quotes for us here.... http://www.bikeradar.com/racing/article/best-bike-quotes-34881/
  5. I'm going going over to the states in November for a couple of months and will be situated in San Fran and then in Connecticut, the question is...do I take my mountain steed? does anyone know of any issues with transporting bikes on american domestic flights? Given the size of my bike box relative to my relative's vehicles, would it be easier to hire a ride whilst in the different places?
  6. Any ideas? phoned a few, like northcliff but they says its six weeks and no-one has ordered them in SA.
  7. Anyone got or know where to get one? I would like the zero rise version. Goes for R700 on CRC.
  8. Nice ride indeed, One question a little off topic....why are so many top end Fox and RockShox forks white?
  9. This one? You said this works for a double up front?
  10. Excuse my ignorance but as I hit more bumpy stuff the chain is popping off now more than i'd like... But will a chain tensioner do the job or are they not very useful compared to full chain guides?
  11. Any ideas of what is best bang for the buck....saw this one on Bikeradar http://www.bikeradar.com/mtb/gear/category/components/chain-guide/product/review-bionicon-v02-chainguide-12-46125
  12. I have a mongoose meteore team and its really light. Lighter than a zaskar which was my alternative. If you're looking for an XC Alu hardtail then this is the one i'd recommend. It really is an excellent alu frame and you can get one for cheap. There were a couple on here for sale a while back and they may not have gone so check out the classified section. I think I may have got Northcliff's last one.
  13. I also run a 180 and 160 combo on an XC bike and just enjoy that little bit of security. Always felt like if I was quick then my front wouldn't quite do the job in an emergency, these stop me very quickly, but as Capricorn says it could be as much about having the brakes setup properly. I had mine bled and recalibrated with new pads when I changed my rotors...also changed to shimano rotors... What ever it was, a 180mm will do a better job mechanically speaking
  14. Fine, whatever.
  15. I'd like to think that when there is inevitable interaction on the trail as is the case of the spruit that the interaction is one that is friendly. Weekends are obviously family time and there is a diverse range of riders using the same space, why not be friendly...surely it should be the default.
  16. Is it me or is the spruit becoming a less and less friendly place to ride? I remember when most people you passed would exchange some level of greeting whether a nod or 'howsit' or 'morning' but it seems more recently everyone has an air of 'get the hell out of my way'. I was having a discussion recently praising the high levels of comaradarie among mountain bikers but perhaps its reserved for the races or the epic with general good will and socialibility out the window on training or spruit rides. How tough is it to say hi when we all just trying to enjoy the same sport in the same place. Heaven forbid anyone gets in some trouble and passing riders just don't give a damn.
  17. More worried about third party inflicted problems than my own. It will prbably be a busy time there over easter so i'm sure it will be fine.
  18. Haven't ridden NF before but reckon i'll take the extra time to this weekend. Is it safe to ride alone? The book I have says not to ride there alone.
  19. How come there's nothing like this in joburg...if there is or has been when and where is it?
  20. ???? that doesn't make the tiniest bit of sense, 29'' fair enough...and is being able to deepthroat 29'' a good thing or a bad thing... poor form on the comeback....
  21. Was thinking the same...don't clothes have the highest import duty?
  22. Why doesn't anyone sell a blank Ibis mojo Sl frame? Thats one thing i'd be tempted by. I brought a non-name brand carbon HT frame which was freshly branded by people starting their own brand here...It felt great until it broke in three places on a fairly chilled bit of the spruit...not very demanding...They did replace it and it was then all good but never felt quite so sure about bailing with carbon under me. From now on its Alu for mountain toys.
  23. So this is why trail lide should have some extra protection near the back of the head!!!! looks seriously sore.
  24. thanks...kind bummed about the amount of rain thats still coming down
  25. I've got some work to do tomorrow near the cradle and would like to take my bike out. I know its serious roadie territory but is there anywhere to play off-road?
