I have a Edge 500 red bundle with premium HR Strap.No Complaints as yet. I use the Cadence/Speed Sensor on my trainer and use GPS for speed and distance on my MTB. I prefer the smaller size of the 500 over th 510 I have : Total Distance,Total Time,Avg Pace, Avg Speed, Max Speed, Total Calories, Total Fat Calories?,Avg HR,Max HR,Avg Cadence,MAx Cadence,Total Ascent,Total Decent,Temp etc etc and a host of other tools etc. you can break up your workout/ride into distance or time based laps. and you can upload directly to Strava,fittrack,discovery etc etc. Then theres Courses, Activities,Workouts, HR Zones,Speed Zones, Power Zones ....... I dont think I have used 45% of its Features Yet....

Like I previously said, what ticks me off the most is that because of one Person like that we could all get kicked out of modderfontein(and other Trails that have Rules and Regulations), same goes for the people speeding through the reserve(in there cars) and the okes who leave there punctured tubes on the trail.One Dead Animal with a tube around its neck and we all get kicked out. One Person Ruining it For Everyone is what gets such a hair up my arse.

I seemed to have stirred quite a commotion, and its not even Friday. Daideron, I hear what you are saying and yes maybe I should rather have called the post "Silly Person of the Day". The Guy didnt Really Shout at him but offered a Friendly reminder as he rode past "Helmet?", the Dirty looks from him and his compadre's told us to rather not make a fuss about it, or else!. I Suppose its up to the organisers to make sure the Rules are Obeyed.

If those are "Nearly New" that makes my two year old MTB Shoes "Brand Spanking New"

What ticks me off is that at the end of the day he could mess it up for everybody else. Image the The headlines in the papers, they will have a field day with it. and then the Trails get Closed and thats that. Yes the Reserve has the "No Helmet, No Ride" Rule.

The regulation requires the use of a protective helmet that is properly fastened and fitted while riding a bicycle or being carried as a passenger. Modderfontein Reserve Rules: The usual rules with regard to cycling are mandatory, mainly being that "no helmet, no ride" applies. A full copy of the rules and regulations are posted at the beginning of the trails, please take the time to read and acknowledge same. You need to have your own bicycle and cycling gear. Please stay on the designated paths within the reserve and remember to look out for walkers and wildlife.

So this morning a Tonsil decides to MTB at Modderfontein without a Helmet. After the guy parked next to me yelled at him "Helmet" We all just got dirty looks and off he went. All we need is for him to smack his head or worse and there goes our modderfontein riding venue...... WEAR A HELMET TONSIL!!!!\ Rant over... Otherwise I Had a nice ride at Modders this morning.......

Hi all, Has anyone done the 35km MTB 94.7 Race?, Is it Technical?, what could it be compared to(Technically) Modderfontein Yellow/red route? Rietvlei Zoom Farm Blue? Any info would be great. Thanks

Tonsils like this will be the reason why we wont be able to MTB in reserves etc in the future. Same as the people that drive 80km/h in the 30km zone in Modderfontein.

not much details in the paper, just that it was sunday morning and there was a big log across the trail, so the cyclist stopped and the guy came out from behind the bushes and cornered the cyclist against the fence.The guy then grabbed the cyclist and grabbed his cell phone and fled under the bridge. Eish, and I was gonna start riding there!

Just read in our local paper : A cyclist was ambushed by a knife wielding man early on sunday morning in the JHB Botanic Gardens, Emmerentia. The attack occured in a part of the garden near the corner of Beyers Naude drive and Judith road. No arrests have been made.
