  1. Nope - think that is the one that Hog has now Yes it is, and it's AWESOME!
  2. But I don't have a KS, I only have a Joplin. I'm happy with the Chumba any way, maybe next year I'll convert it to SS and get myself a 456 with KS post.
  3. I wish these guys would build a frame with a 31.6mm seat post. I can't run my Joplin on these frames, and I'm not spending $400 on a Rase Black Mamba.
  4. Found a liiiiiiitle bit of play in the headset. Tightened it up a quarter turn and will test it tonight. Seems I'm so worried about over-tightening things that I under-tighten them.
  5. Okay, I admit I built the Chumba up myself, and I may have stuffed it up. I can't remember if the 'Goose made the same sound, so I don't know if it's the fork. On rough terrain there's a pretty pronounced knock coming from the front of the bike. Can't figure out if it's the fork or the headset. It's very possible that I have the headset bearings the wrong way around, it's a PRO Cane Creek style headset. It could also be the fork, Marzocchi AM3. How do I figure out what it is?
  6. Now there I have to agree. It's really disgusting doing Trials on the rocks and having to dodge the sh!tpiles everywhere. Also, broken glass, booze bottles, and just general garbage everywhere. It's sickening!
  7. I don't think the Spruit-dwellers are the problem. They're just trying to get by. We've done a few Trials rides on the rocks there recently, and they either spectated or went away as we got closer. I think there are more organised forces behind the hijackings.
  8. I've got one. Once you're used to it you'll never be able to go back! It's awesome to be able to drop the seat when you hit the technical sections, or even if you just want to get nice and low for a few corners. As mentioned, there's a little bit of sideways play, but you don't notice that once you're sitting. If you need more drop, there's a more expensive post called the Rase Black Mamba, with 9". I've also heard good things about the KS posts.
  9. You want to use the 456, which is a tough All-mountain frame, to ride on the road? Maybe rather look at the Scandal, which is for XC.
  10. I upgraded my old playbike from rigid to suspension, which meant I had to get a disc compatible front wheel, a disc brake, and rotor. Spend about R2000 in total. Retired the bike about a month later when I bought the GT. Took all the goodies off when I sold it. What a waste.
  11. My 2c (and I'm no expert): The chain is harder than the rest of the drive train, which is why we replace the chain before it trashes the rest. Now, by rotating 3 chains, I think we may even cause more damage to the drive train, since there are 3 different wear patterns worn into the rings/casette. Don't think it would make a measurable difference though, since we're replacing our chains often anyway. I guess what you need to ask yourself is: Would you rather measure 1 chain and replace 1 at a time, or keep track of 3 chains and replace 3 chains at a time, although less frequently? I vote 1.
  12. Just put it right next to the track. I could use something to break my fall when I overcook it in the top berm.
  13. Today's session was fun! I think my longest run was 5 laps, and I was pretty dead. This track flows really well, and is a great example of what a pump track should be. I think the team did a great job and I know I'll spend much more time there. Well done guys!
  14. Dude, that track is awesome! Thanks for insisting that I try it on your bike today. I've been having fantasies of building a pump track in our spare room all day! Maybe I can bring the GT around tomorrow so I can play on the bike I'm used to. I'd be dead keen for a pump-track race series!
  15. Oh well, no takers. Guess it's a Trials session at the park then.
  16. Have you seen my sister? If I was you I'd run very far away! Anyway... Anyone keen? Otherwise it's just me and the Trials course again.
  17. Ah okay. She did mention she had some charity work do to this afternoon. Something about getting a booker to help get some dude weighed Reception was a little crap so maybe I misheard a little.
  18. I thought only girly MTBers wash their hair?
  19. Awwwwww... But why not?
  20. Anyone keen to ride this arvie? Maybe hit the Spruit or the park?
  21. Hey, I think I know what we can do for the next girls skills clinic!
  22. Yes, he's damn impressive. The bastard. I need to get training!
  23. Hmmm... This is a style of road riding that actually appeals to me because it's more technical - lots of corners, which means braking and racing line comes into play. No way I'm building up a road bike for that though!
  24. That's a lot of money for a wheel set. I see they have Hope Pro 3 with ZTR rims that weigh the same but cost half. Or you could go slightly heavier but get the Pro II hubs with ZTR rims for less. Don't listen to me though, I'm a Hope hubs fanboy.
