  1. The correct way of doing this is very simple: 1. Submit the warranty claim to manufacturer. 2. Register your "possible" claim with the insurer telling them you are waiting for a response from manufacturer on warranty claim. Once you receive the manufacturers response submit a copy to insurers and claim what was not covered under warranty or cancel the claim if fully covered. Did exactly that with my one claim a year ago and the insurer actually appreciated the feedback from the manufacturer in order to substantiate my claim.
  2. Agree with the above. You will be implicated in this fraud as well seeing that you know about the insurance claim. Did you supply the quote for the insurance if so - drop them a note and say the claim was handled as a warranty iro the following items and list them.
  3. based in Gauteng. Did find another topic with the same question so will follow up on that. Thanks
  4. I need some advice. My carbon rear wheel (road) got damaged when I hit a &%$# pothole. The damage is on the section that hold the tyre bead in place. The rest of the wheel are still 100%. Can anybody point me to a specialist that can do carbon repairs on wheels. Thanks
  5. Anybody with a extra 50 mm carbon rim (rim only) please let me know. I busted my rear rim in a pothole and need to replace
  6. It only fits on round seatposts so useless for bikes with aero seatposts. Bring out a fitting for aero posts and you will make a killing
  7. I am looking for 2 x Cradle Mountain Trophy entries. Please let me know if you have available via PM
  8. Your Campag 10 spd wheel will work perfectly with the 10spd Shimano. In most cases you can change the Freehub from Shimano to Campag or Campag to Shimano. You cannot just change the cassette. Good luck with the Ultegra DI2 if you're half as happy as I am with it you will enjoy, its a fantastic groupset and I will never change. Maybe upgrade
  9. Hi Dubbin _ Sitution sound so similar. I also experimented once by stop taking the meds a few days before the weekend an then I can easily get my HR up to 145 to 160 level and actually feel great. Also decided not to take the risk again. I go every 6 months for the full monty of test and was given the all clear to train at my last visit. I started this topic to get more real life experience advice and maybe a 2nd opinion on the Betablockers. Thanks to all of you for the responses and advice
  10. Thanks BlueMonster I wish you well and a speedy recovery. I started riding again after three months but had to keep it slow and I was not allowed to get my heart rate above 65% of max = that is like standing still Got the all clear now a year after the event to train at higher intensity. Might be a good idea that we keep in touch and share some war stories about our tickers Will pm you my contact details Wish you well
  11. Thanks BarHugger some great articles you referred to
  12. [quote name="Richard29" post="2577766" timestamp="142658d. how did you know you were having a heart attack? sharp pain in your chest? (if you don't want to answer id understand) good luck and happy riding Thanks Richard I was probably very lucky and extremely blessed. Last year whilst doing the Carnival City I had this pain in my chest and battled to breath. Thought it was after effects of bronchitis. Later the afternoon it got worse and I went to emergency at Olivedale They did an ECG which was fine and while waiting for the blood results it happened I know nothing but was told later that they had to resusitate me and shocked me a few times to get my heart going again I understand the importance of working with the Doc but would like to hear from other cyclists in similar situations how they handled it
  13. Hi Guys - I need some help. I am back from a heart attack one year ago and recovered 100%. However I am still on medication that cause my heart rate to go to a maximum of about 120 to 125. This apparently is due to a "Beta Blocker" that I take that acts as a governor on the heart. I am extremely happy with my Cardiologist and what he did for me but he does not understand that in cycling I mean doing 120km's on a Saturday and same on Sunday. He said I can train and ride as before but with this blocker it is impossible as my legs just don't want to go. Enough about the history. I need to go and see someone with a sports background / experience in endurance sport that can help me to assess the medication and if anything else is available. Can you guys recommend someone in Johannesburg or Pretoria
  14. I think the TV coverage was very poor for such a world class event. Camera work was terrible and the camera placements even worse. Must be the same guys that did the Argus. They showed how the chopper nearly blew Songo-Info off the trail and giving them a very bad dust shower - not cool Don't even want to comment on Owen Hannie's commentary
  15. Remember most people are already in or on their way to Cape Town with their bicycles. Cancelling the CTCT there will be no organised ride and all these people will hit the various roads in any case. That will also spell chaos in my dictionary
  16. Actually did ask for him - was told he will only be back next week
  17. You are so right. Went to the so-called Mega Store yesterday and could not find one of the four items I was looking for. The Team members "sales staff" are of no assistance as they know absolutely nothing about cycling
  18. Good news - Don't tel me Nibali is/was not aware of the culture in the team and the risk of staying there.
  19. Do any of you know if there is a gps route available for download?
  20. Well done to everybody involved in organizing this fantastic race. Parking, Start, Marshalls, road marking - everything was well organized. Even the riders in our bunch behaved well and we all had a safe ride. Thank you and well done - will be back
  21. Get in touch with Stefan at Cyclesuccess. I think he's also racing in VA's and did great things for me as far as coaching is concerned. PM me for his contact details
  22. Can anybody recommend somebody that can do repairs to carbon wheels. Damaged mine hitting a pothole. Preferably in Gauteng. Thanks
  23. I will do this race this year as a big thank you to our Lord for giving me another chance and my family for their love and support. Suffered a heart attack last year after the race, and after 4 stents and a lengthy recovery is now back to full recovery and riding again
  24. Contact Stefan @ Cyclesuccess. Doing mainly training but also services He will sort you out - based in Westrand Helderkruin PM me for contact details
  25. I use White Lightning (Lube) and it works a bomb to remove any stickers. Just wet it properly and wait a few minutes
