  1. The lighty is loving the bike, he's already confident on it and racing round the drive way, not bad for a kid who's just turned four. I'll give him a month or 2 and then take out to Rietvlei.
  2. Hi, the RSP is R3,999 It is pricey for a kids bike but I figure its worth it, it's a lot lighter & it's rigid so he'll learn to handle a bike properly, his brother will also use it when my eldest son outgrows the bike so hopefully a good few years use will justify the price.
  3. I was a bit worried about the saddle but he seems to be fine on it
  4. Very nice, will definitely look at upgrading in the future.
  5. Awesome bike That Niner fork is a beauty, suprisingly I think the black and white fork you have there looks nicer on the bike than the nude carbon.
  6. Thanks for the feedback, so apart from looking a helluva lot nicer the Niner fork also handles better, thats good news. I'll PM you to discuss availability
  7. Collected my Ritchey P-29er frame from my LBS today, what a stunning frame, super chuffed with it. I'll build it up over the next 6 months, 1st choice: which fork to go for ? Any advice as to which is the better fork and why ?
  8. The difference is that there was nothing else available when we were kids.
  9. I wish ! This bikes tips the scales at 8.9kg quite a few less than my Pyga. This is the main reason I spent a bit more, the 20 inch Avalanche in comparison weighs 11.8kg which is a huge difference when you're a kid and only weigh about 20kg yourself
  10. Correct, 20 inch wheels, kids bikes are measured by wheel size i.e. 12 inch, 16 inch, 20 inch etc
  11. My LBS did the conversion, used a rim strip, tubeless valve and sealant
  12. And now an XL is mine Picking the frame up from my LBS in the morning
  13. Got my eldest son a Momsen 20inch mtb for his birthday, awesome bike, I converted the tyres to tubeless so no punctures
  14. This looks like it will be an absolutely awesome race. It has a lot going for it: - Amazing trails - Well priced - Close to JHB I reckon it will be a huge success but needs to be advertise in Ride or Tread, I'm definitely riding, luckily I saw this thread. Can't wait, 3 Towers 1st though.
  15. Looking great, have you taken it out for a decent ride yet ?
  16. Very good write up
  17. Would have to agree, the seat stay decals do look kinda crappy, the top tube decal looks very cool though.
  18. It's going to look awesome, post some pics when you're done.
  19. Definitely before the ride
  20. Ha Ha, I can see major flack coming for the bar ends, oh well It's a size XL, so no bigger size available, having said that I think the fit is good.
  21. I'll reserve judgement until I've done a few rides, 1st impressions were that it's faster once you get the wheels rolling, definitely slower in the tight twisty stuff but rolls over things a whole lot easier, overall so far I'd say the 29er is faster, having said that I am 1.93m tall so the 29er does make sense for my height.
  22. Thanks. I tried the no bar end thing, had evry intention of leaving them off, then did a 70km marathon without bar ends and my hands were damn sore, reckon I'll need them for the stage races, at least they're not carbon My Frame arrived at my LBS on Tuesday so I just missed the snow.
  23. GT Zaskar 100, carbon 26 inch dual
  24. These bikes deserve a dedicated thread ! Took mine for its maiden ride this morning at Rietvlei bike park, was also my 1st ride on a 29er. What a Bike !!!
