  1. It was a very long day at the office for me. Great to be out there again. Slowest half that I’ve ever done.
  2. I phoned Ironman a bit earlier today and they say it is definitely on.
  3. I've just totaled up my training since 15th March. I have never done so little training leading up to an event. Swimming 2hours 40 minutes Cycling; 19 hours Running; 9 hours 20 minutes Should be a fun day out!

  6. An interesting treatment that I have taken recently for Biharzia is Biltricide followed two weeks later by a course of Coartem. Bilharzia is very interesting as it can show up in many parts of the body. It has caused me to have, at various times, a cough, eyes being sensitive to light, fatigue, headaches. night sweats, etc. I have suffered with this for over 30 years and it seems as though the Coartem is a good follow up to the Biltricide.

    With the likelihood that all triathlon events will be cancelled this year, it will only be the third time since 1988 that I have not done at least one triathlon per year. A bit of a sad situation.

  13. I have bought a training program off Training Peaks, first time that I will be using a structured program after 30 years in the sport. The program started off on Monday, with 18 weeks to go until Durban 70.3 I'm interested to see what difference this is going to make. The program I am using is the Phil Mosley Masters Intermediate program over 18 weeks. Looking forward to the journey.

    Go with a one piece sleeved suit, it's the safer option. Practice wearing it in training, don't wait for the big day to use it for the first time.

    My 10 cents: Take an easy swim week, scale right back on the swim training, go for a surf swim or two for the fun of it. Just go and swim with no goal in mind, and if you get out after 10 minutes, then that's ok. Change the routine. Or, go and have a sundowner looking out over the ocean !!

    Sleeves all the way. Can be used in olympic distance as well as longer distances. Orca or 2XU are the only brands that ive had experience with lately - both are good. Make sure the fit is correct so buy new to start with and get the proper fit advice from a good shop.

    My rule of thumb: If you do the event distance in training through the week, for 6 weeks leading up to the event, you should be able to finish the event with a bit of Vasbyt. For example, a full ironman event, if you can do 3.8km swimming, 180km cycling and 42km training per week, for 4 to 6 weeks leading up to the event, you will be fine to finish.
  24. Well done, Major achievement for sticking it out. I definitely would not have managed that kind of vasbyt.
