    Give it a TRI

Good Luck to you and your wife on your new journey, it sound's like you are approaching it from a sensible angle. If I can give some advice on confidence during open water swimming - and this from someone who is not a great swimmer - the fitter you are with your swim in the pool, the more confident you will become in the open water. I'm not sure where you are from, but there are plenty of people on this forum who will be able to advise on various open water swimming groups, its a good idea to join them, they cater to all skill levels. Have fun, it's a great thing to do

I have had the sleeved 2XU Trisuit for a couple of years now, and it seems a quality piece of kit. It seems to have shrunk in the stomach area though !
  3. Doug, I have an old Felt road bike that I could lend you. It’s not in great condition but it should manage the 90k course. WhatsApp me on 0832420285 in the morning. I’m about 70 km out of town but I will be doing the event.
  4. Share your Live Location on WhatsApp with someone before going for your ride

Good luck to everyone doing the Durban 70.3 event tomorrow.
  6. Hi Scott, I’m not doing the event and I live about 70km outside of Durban, but if you don’t come right, give me a call and I could help out. I’m from a farming area called Eston. Regards. Rob
  7. Thank you. Much appreciated
  8. I can't seem to find what the distances are per day. Can anyone assist please? And daily ascent as well. Thanks
  9. I'm doing the Pinotage event. My first time at W2W.

What was your race number ? I think we are in the same age category - 1322 for me. I probably shouldn't have been on the start line, head cold or something kicked in quite severely on thursday and friday, but I figured that I would start and see how it went. Swim was good, cycle was ok as I had determined to keep the heart rate low as a Precaution. First 10K of the run was good, and after that it was a slow affair. Overall i was happy with my day all things considered.

So the swim is on. I'm probably going to regret only having done 3k total swim training !

Average Durban sea temperature for the month of October is 21* C. Very good chance of a wetsuit swim.

I think there might still be a chance that it's a wetsuit swim, but definitely prepare for the possibility that the water will be too warm for a wetsuit
