  1. I enjoyed the ride. The trail was fantastic: technical bits, crazy climbing, crazy descents, long flat wide stretches, single track - very testing. The heat was a killer and I wasn't as fit as I thought I was, coming in 30 minutes later than what I was hoping for. Will definitely be back on these trails. Only thing, which is a given in the trailseekers, is the traffic, the walkers always kill on the ups and downs. The missus did her first half marathon on Saturday, and came in swearing and bruised, but also loved it. Even managed that first 10km climb without walking it. Kudos to the couple (I assume) doing the marathon on a tandem. Was amazing to see them ride the climb @10km First order of priority for Hakahana: BEER LICENSE. When I got in, the ice in our coolerbox had melted and the beers weren't very cold
  2. *troll on* The roadies.
  3. check your spam, mine was there.
  4. Nice, good to know. Often @ Cafe Delizioso, but haven't been to Torqzone.
  5. +1 - Boooo
  6. shot for the advice. I'd originally let the computer set max based on height, weight & gender, coming out at 186bpm, but I can push 195. Will play with the computer tonight and see if I can manually set the max to a little faster. *edit* fixed
  7. I'm gonna start using Nando's condoms.
  8. It's a standard garmin HRM - hard plastic sensor with elasticized material straps. Must be the double-reason, as it was strap on tight and moist.
  9. Ag jinne. I have 2 of my own and she does too. I'm hoping the "cheaper by the half-dozen" principle kicks in soon.
  10. cool. see you saturday.
  11.
  12. you sure about that?
  13. My missus (yep, she's real Karma) used my HRM this morning. My HR varies from 80 (about 40% of max) to 190 (104% of max). I had just used my HRM, so from what I could tell it was functioning normally, but when she put it on (and she even has a pulse), it was showing 240bpm! This was before she climbed on her bike. My assumption is that the monitor is reading a double pulse, maybe it's being worn too low down or something? How can I fix it?
  14. You used to be indecisive, but now you're just not sure?
  15. Stop contemplating and do it
  16. I'm in E for the marathon this time.
  17. I normally use 1 GU and it's usually about 40min - 1h before the end. Nothing worse than running out of energy 5km from the end. takes a lekker ride and makes it feel KUK. (if spikes are a myth, then I must be a unicorn). Usually eat bananas, little bit of biltong and/or some cashews and a peanut butter sarmie on longer rides and drink water with a 50/50 mix of coke+water for sugar boost if needed.
  18. Route discovery and guidance +1 - locate routes in an area and then give guidance on how to ride those routes. Something lacking in most mobile apps.

  21. "True story" ?
  22. Crossing the road to continue the trail, of course.
  23. Schwalbe racing ralphs. If you do start doing more technical stuff, go with the snakeskins. *edit* just saw Surv0MTB's comment, ye those are a bit soft on the tar and wear down.
  24. They have a buffalo category now, you know.
